SIKHI SURVIVAL SERIES

(formly known as London Sikhi week)

Imagine yourself alone in a jungle with no food, no shelter and no way out. How would you survive? What tools would you need? This life is that jungle.....and over the 2 weeks we will be introducing discussions based on how to overcome all the obstacles and how to SURVIVE!

“THE COMPASS”

Wednesday 4th March Time: 6-8pm

Location: Kingston University, Clattern LectureTheatre, Penryhn Road

To escape and survive the jungle you need a guide. What is that guide in life? Gurbani , the Guru....

“SURVIVING AT HOME”

Thursday 5th March, Time 6-8pm

Location: Imperial University, The Clore Theatre, Huxley Building

Problems faced in Sikh/Punjabi households that we are to afraid to tackle. Alcoholism, self abuse, domestic violence etc...with a take on what Gurbani says, and how they should be tackled.

“I’M A SINGH, GET ME OUT OF HERE!!”

Friday 6th March, Time: 5.30-7pm

Location: Kings College London, Hobkins Building

Comedy night, parchaar through humour!! Not to be missed.

"Chaupi Sahib Program"

Saturday 7th March, Time: 5-10 pm

Location: Sikh Missionary Society, Southall

One Million Chaupai Sahibs by June 2009 - Play your part, Pray for the Panth! Lets stand and unite as one and pray for the protection of all the victims. Followed by keertan and langar.

"SURVIVING THROUGH THE AGES"

Monday 9th March, Time: 6-8pm

Location: UCL, Medical Sciences AV Hill LT

How have we managed to survive, and lived to tell the tale? Throughout the ages Sikhs have had a price on their head, let’s not forget all those great sacrifices made over the last 500 years by Gursikhs and what relevance they have to our lives today.

"THE KIT"

Tuesday 10th March, Time: 6-8pm

Location: LSE,20 Kingsway(Opposite the Peacock Theatre), Room G108

What are the ‘tools’ that we need to survive in the jungle of life? How do you escape?

"KEERTAN DARBAR"

Wednesday 11th March, Time: 6-8pm

Location: Kings College London, The Spit

Keertan, with Katha in English and of course langer.

"Student AKAND PAATH"

Friday 13th March 8am Arambh

Evening keertan Darbar, followed by the homeless run.

Saturday 14th March

Workshops, learn to tie a daastar, Spring clean the Gurudwara, discussions, and of course the evening Kirtan Darbar and Katha.

Sunday 15th March

Bhog Sri Akhand Paath Sahib in the morning followed by kirtan Darbar.

2 days to go, till the first event. Its starts in the evening, so you have no excuses!!!

How to get there

By train

Trains run regularly from London Waterloo to Kingston upon Thames station or Surbiton station (at least every 15 minutes). The train journey takes approximately 25 minutes.

By bus

The following buses run from London:
