Beware of fake Babas and Sants

Col. Sandhu pointed out how simple Sikh men and women are being exploited by some of the ever increasing numbers of so-called sants and babas who have established elaborate deras where many have sexually exploited and abused the women followers. He stated that the Sikh community needs to be aware of the nefarious activities of these anti-panthic people. He exhorted the Sikhs all over the world to seek the guidance and follow the teaching of only Sri Guru Granth Saib and not from these self-styled Babas.

He gave examples of three such Babas, 'Johlanwala Baba', 'Ram Rahim Singh', and finally Mann Sinh of Pehowa and the latters' exploitation of followers. He requested that the Sangat not give money to these already well-to-do deradars and instead concentrate on helping fellow Sikhs in Punjab who are going through some trying times.

How can colonel sandhu stop a sant? these types are quick to call baba mann singh a rapist but when the sant does x amount of bhagti they don't do sangat.

My only concern with these type of "crusaders" is that they may not always be able to distinguish between genuine and fakes.

From the three names mentioned, apart from the obvous Jhootha Sauda loser, the other two...not so much clarity.

Compelling argumetns from both sides leads one to believe that we need to hold out on passing judgments just yet.

More impartial investigation and input of Panthic Gurmukhs is required.

Otherwise this turns into a witch hunt with the anti-sant squad having a field day, attacking both genuine Gurmukh Sants and fakes.

Singh Sabha International is a good example. They have athe audacity to slander all sampardas including Dals, Taksal and AKJ.

Mr Sandhu should get the input of senior Gurmukhs and organizations of the panth before launching his crusade.

we have to be very careful to establish the genuine from the fake

we also have to have confidence like in our past that the light of Sikhi will automatically attract the kind of people that are attracted to the teachings of the Gurus

after all Punjab has always been the lad of sants and fakirs and the Sikhs never felt threatened before becuase of the proud self confidence of our forbears

yep we should get these fake babas but make sure we dont take down any genuine ones on the way. i know, lets make a floating prison in international waters where we can lock these idiots. or something.
