Try the Sant Kirpal Singh Ji's Teeka Amir Bhandar( named after their teacher Sant Amir Singh Ji). This will give you the GUrbani arths in more familiar Punjabi while still remaining in the Samparaic sphere.

Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji created the Nanaksar maryada where Faridkot Teeka is read every day.

The Faridkot Teeka was prepared by several Great Vidvaans of the Nirmal Akharra....It has always been seen as the King of Teekas on SGGS, and has never spured any controversy.

In my opinion it is the best Teeka but you have to accept that it is immensely deep and not the best place to start for novices wanting to understand Gurbani.Therefore Prof. Sahib Singh's teeka is recommended which is a gramatical literal approach to understanding the meanings of Gurbani.

Sant Gurbachan Singh and Prof Sahib were of the same time period...when Prof Sahib was first releasing his Teeka he was given 5 mins to talk about his Teeka but Sant Gurbachan Singh was present at that samagam and he liked Sahib Singh so much he requested that Proffessor Sahib Singh be given more time to speak about his Teeka on SGGS, thus Sahib Singh spoke for more than an hour about his transliteration. When asked about why he has only taken a grammatical approach to his transliteration and not an orthodox approach of including

vyakaran, vyakya, anthreev arth, uthanka etc Sahib Singh said 'i leave it up to the individual reading this to delve into his own spirituality and comprehend the meaning of Gurbani'

Upon hearing this Sant Gurbachan Singh was much pleased.

No teeka is perfect and no teeka is wrong. Everyone try to explain Gurubani according to the wisdome, which God has given to him or her.
