How To Remember Vaheguru

Recommended Posts

@ Balbir Singh Ji,

from the little I gathered through the Shabad Bhagat Ji is conveying a message for us, how our minds should be attuned to Waheguru Ji, to Maharaj. Bhagat Ji has given examples in the shabad how we should remember Waheguru Ji. In the last panktee of the shabad he speaks about a mother who's child is in the cradle and while she carries her house chores, she constantly keeps her child in her mind. This is how we should remember Waheguru as we go about our daily routines, with our mann always attuned with Him.

This is the little i could gather ji, please forgive wherever i made mistakes. Sangat will be able to guide better ji.

Bhul chukk mauf karna ji.

Kabeer, the rice is beaten with a mallet to get rid of the husk.

When people sit in evil company, the Righteous Judge of Dharma calls them to account. ||211||

Trilochan says, O Naam Dayv, Maya has enticed you, my friend.

Why are you printing designs on these sheets, and not focusing your consciousness on the Lord? ||212||

Naam Dayv answers, O Trilochan, chant the Lord's Name with your mouth.

With your hands and feet, do all your work, but let your consciousness remain with the Immaculate Lord. ||213||

Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakaal,

Dear all and Puneet Kaur Jee,

Truth and its spirituality are experienced in the present. It is not the music of future.

You wrote " . . . Bhagat Ji is conveying a message for us, how our minds should be attuned to Waheguru Ji, to Maharaj."

There is a difference. Preachers use often the verb 'should' while explaining spirituality.

The true Gurus sing Truth in the present.

Quote "Bhagat Ji has given examples in the shabad how we should remember Waheguru Ji."

Bhagat Jee is singing 'manu raam naamaa bedhiale'. The mind is transcended by Raam Naamaa. There is no mention of Waheguru in this Sabad, in my view.

Quote "In the last panktee of the shabad he speaks about a mother who's child is in the cradle and while she carries her house chores, she constantly keeps her child in her mind. This is how we should remember Waheguru as we go about our daily routines, with our mann always attuned with Him."

In last two lines all persons mentioned are males. Strange, the translator has used the word 'mother'.

In my experience, the state of a worldly religion is depending on its translations.

The true religion is the expression of its enlivener, also through words, as it is.

*****

Mehtab Singh Jee,

What have you experienced, the Guru's words or its translations?

Where did I say anything about my experiences to begin with? Both the Shabads I posted are from Gurbani and clearly indicate on how to remember Vaheguru and focus on him at all times. If there is anything to be added please feel free to do so.

I don't think anyone mentioned anything about the future.

Preachers probably use "should" to emphasize the Hukam of Gurbani.

Vaheguru is mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji some 17 times. Ram is mentioned over 2000 times, and it refers to the One Lord abiding in every pore of creation, again referring to Vaheguru. Do you want to claim that only Shabads mentioning Vaheguru are referring to Vaheguru and others are not?
In last two lines all persons mentioned are males. Strange, the translator has used the word 'mother'.
It does mention a young girl with a pitcher and a cow, both females.
In my experience, the state of a worldly religion is depending on its translations. The true religion is the expression of its enlivener, also through words, as it is.
Sikhi is not a religion per say, and to call it a religion based on today's definitions is demeaning. Sikhi is a journey of the soul towards Akaal Purakh, and this journey is both progressive and developmental in nature. Religion is just a way of life, Sikhi is a way of life and death. Our Sants taught us how to live, and Sipahis (Shaheeds) taught us how to die. Gurbani explains what is the true religion, i.e. religion in its pure state/definition, not what the definition has become today.

I know you are going to come forward with another 17 questions that have nothing to do with the title of this thread. Better not waste your, mine or anyone else's time.

Mehtab Singh Jee,

You wrote "Where did I say anything about my experiences to begin with?"

For what you have given the references of Sabads and its translation?

Quote "Both the Shabads I posted are from Gurbani and clearly indicate on how to remember Vaheguru and focus on him at all times."

Please explain which Vaaks from both the Sabads you posted clearly indicate how to remember Vaheguru.

Balbir Singh

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
