Suffering From Ocd

My ocd is debilitating . I cant do any thing productive and i end up at the end of each day in anxiety .My head reels and burns from thinking and worrying too much . My paranoia throws me into a state of no activity and i keep mulling over the negative consequences .

My brain has to put twice the effort to make up for the wastage of energy .

When i act in an odd manner for example if i retrace my steps to reach the gate in an odd number of steps , people call me crazy but they don``t know i have my own stupid reasons for doing so .

If i register for an exam , i am afraid of letting people know what i am upto out of thinking that people wont think well of me . i try to keep all my activities a secret so that noone knows of my plans .If someone knows i end up worrying till my head burns and my blood boils

have you seen a pscyhiatrist, ocd is curable, its a matter of self explaining, going to support groups and also taking medication

by explaining i dont mean to do compulsions and try to solve contradictions that arise in your mind, i mean by rationally thinking about what ur doing and how it doesnt acheive anything, you need to meditate to calm yourself down whenever u start to feel the state of panic

and you are not crazy, unfortunately the south asian community for hte most part are uneducated in these matters, especially ones who come from india ie our parents, relatives etc we need some programs that educate our community about psychiatric problems.

depression and ocd are two that are known to be cured in many people.. you need to seek the help i mentioned above and a lot of it also comes with you changing how u interpret things and how u think as well as pharmacotherapy ( medications)

Also i usually aproach tasks with a plan in mind and even if some minor thing goes ot of the way , i am scrwed over it . For example i am trying to register for GRE and i didnt have a credit c ard to do it , so i approcahed my bank with whom i maintain an account . The manager offered to do it from his credit card if i am reday to pay him the charges in cash . Now he has registered me for the exam but i am unable to study for it because i am afraid he knows about me and he knows that i am taking a test and i am scared silly that he might not think well of me . I am paranoid

you really need to see a psychiatrist before u spin out of control, its like someone for example who has cancer and they just keep telling ppl about it but dont see a cencer specialist, ocd is falls into different categories, some ppl have depression with it, some ppl have anxiety, some ppl have this and that so it dpeends, but it is curable, u have to go see ur psychiatrist and the above shabad is a perfect answer.

please go see a psychiatrist and ask for some referrals to discussion groups or support groups at your local hospital or some kind of community center, ur hospital or ur psychiatrist or both will have that information for you.

you are not crazy, you just interpret things in a slightly different way and you need some medication and training on how to interpret thigns differently.

ocd ppl have become doctors, lawyers and great professions, they are smart ppl but they are just very hard on themselves and they haev a high moral thats why they are bothered by small things

please go see your family doctor and get a psych referall

ps you have nothing to be ashamed or worried about, ppl openly tell others i have ocd, especially other cultures, our culture just isnt aware of these things and think its some black magic or like something silly like that, its very common for ppl to have ocd, u will find that many ppl in this world have it.

but there is help, so dont be ashamed and get help please, im in the medical profession thats why i know about this condition so well

Jee i'm also an OCD sufferer. Inbox me your skype/msn if you like and we chat about it if you wish. I've had numerous types of therapy so I guess I could share some of my first hand experiences.

Guroofateh!

paji/penji, please share your experience with different treatment modalities so that health care workers and the general public will get something out of your seva and have a better insight and ways to approach this problem that exists widely in the south asian community.
