Amritdharis Eating Out - Please Discuss!

Sangat ji, dass is confused.

Is it ok for amritdharis to eat out at a restaurant? Obviously the food has to be vegetarian, egg-less, gelatine-less etc...

The thing that's constantly bugging me and am finding it hard to get my head around is the panday (dishes) both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food gets cooked in.

So surely as hygiene, health and safety standards dictate, all dishes used are washed at high temperatures; thus removing any bacteria etc... it is therefore safe and ok for amritdharis to eat from?

This question can be applied to a whole host of situations such as:

• eating at family's/relative's/friend's houses (who also eat meat from the same dishes as they serve you in)
  
• eating at peoples wedding receptions/birthday parties/etc (where meat is served on plates as opposed to plastic trays)
  

Thing with not eating at family's functions (a family who eats and cooks meat) is the notion of not wanting to upset them or making them feel the food they cook is not good enough for an amritdhari to eat - even though they have cooked vegetarian food for you with pyaar (out of the same dishes they usually cook meat in, but have obviously washed them before cooking vege food)...

Where do you draw the line as an amritdhari? Surely we can't upset our familys? There's no compassion in this? Then again, you eat from same dishes that meat is cooked in?

What's right?

Thing is, my personal and gut feeling it's ok to do so because the dishes are washed. Then again, the idea of meat being cooked and served in the same dishes you eat from isn't a good feeling when amritdhari as it's scary to think if you do it (if it IS wrong) there will be consequences).

And to confuse things further, I have some really chardi kala amritdhari mates who are on both sides of the coin - some eat out at restaurants etc with no problem (obviously vegetarian food) and some totally reject the idea as they have sarabloh bibek (eating from food cooked in sarabloh dishes only).

Please please pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee sangat ji help dass out - im sure there are others who may be wondering the same sort of thing!

before i took amrit and was in england i seen like a group of amrit dharis walk into a halal kabab restaraunt and eat out, kind of weird

What about "pure vegetarian" and vegan restaurants? These places do not use egg etc, so should be okay if pressed.

there are fast food places in england run by singhs and singhnia all blessed with amrit

a place near birmingham is called chamkaurs, they make pizzas etc all vegetarian of course

Mr Guptinder you will face problems

1. If your family is not Amritdhari.

2. If you are single and don't know how to cook.

3. If you have to travel or stay away from home.

In all the above cases you will have to make a compromise or rely on someone else.

It's good if you can keep Food Bibek.
