Will Badals act against DGP Saini now, asks Dal Khalsa

A day after The Indian Express reported that a high powered committee has found that Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and five other senior officers own parts of the village common land (shamlat/ mushtarkan malkan), the Dal Khalsa asked the state to clear its stand on the top cop.

“Both Chief Minister PS Badal and his son and deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal should explain to the masses weather they will take action against the DGP or still feel that Saini is the best officer for top post,” the party asked.

In a statement, party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said there never was a doubt about the tainted and controversial past of the Punjab DGP. “Saini never operated within the ambit of law while dealing with militants or the common man. Him violating the law of the land was never a secret, but the Badals didn’t want to see it,” Kanwar Pal alleged.

Quoting the reported findings of high-powered committee set-up by the state government, he said not only the illegally occupied properties of these people should be vacated but they should also be prosecuted for making a mockery of the law. Pal said that such people had no right to remain in high offices.

He also said that fair and proper action would not be possible so long as these people continue to hold offices.
