the reason for highlighting these cases is not racially motivated.

It is so our community understand these dangers, it is no exaggeration that our girls are worst affected as percentage than other British children. Ask anyone working in helplines, community work, or off-record with social service workers.

This problem is so wide spread, its epidemic levels. Only a tiny proportion end in convictions.

Thank you for the tips for identifying that your child is being groomed. As a new father to a daughter, I will say. I'm already over protective and paranoid.

I feel in some ways I may need to back off and just trust the world with my family before she grows up a bit, my wife says so too. But I didn't predict how much as a parent you just kind of, instinctively worry.

Some good points. To add I think our parents give in too easily to their childs demands these days. Now days even 12yr olds have mobiles, personal latops and social networking accounts when there is no need.

Somethings we could try to implement in our homes (were we have youngsters living with us eg younger siblings etc):

1) Have a family shared laptop not personal laptops/pc's this way everyone knows what everyone is doing online (this way no-one feels like its one rule for them but one for everyone else)

2) If your siblings are on faecbook and so are you make sure you add them as this way you can keep a eye on them. Or get a close friend to end them and keep an eye that way. Sounds mad but its better to be safe.

3) Randomly walk into your siblings room to talk to them about stuff in general as they might want to talk but don't know how to approach you.

4) Ask them how their day was etc so even if they feel isolated from parents they know you care.

These are just a few things that could prevent this kind of sad thing happening to our youngsters. The points I have pointed out above are just my own ideas from my own experience of having a teen sibling. Sorry if I have gone on a rant and in the process gone off topic.

We must share parental tips, things that have worked, dangers etc.

It needs to be an open frank debate, we're all in this together.

We cannot lock our children up, we cannot pull the internet plug- but we must educate and protect in a manner never seen before.

We have to learn fast, as technology has evolved, so have the dangers.

I was speaking to a friend GP the other day, he said the presciption for anti-depressants for young people is crazy, getting younger and younger.

The pressures on children is enormous, especially when it comes to exploring sexuality.

For children there is no longer a clear line between what is acceptable and what is not. Please read this:

This is very hard reading for young people only a decade older. But so much has changed in one generation, we must evolve too.

• Eat Langur together, pray together, do ardas together.
  
• Share experiences, fun days out,talk, talk and more talk
  
• SANGAT!!!. make friends with parents with similar aged children who also believe in Sikhi values.
  
• Turn BullSh*t drama's off completely. eastenders, hindi dramas. these are all mind altering, don't care how much you think its just entertainment.
  
• Make the child feel comfortable in his/her own skin.
  
• NEVER make remarks about being fat/dark etc. "oh no one will marry you, because your so.." etc
  
• NEVER over-react when you see something you don't like. The child will think I am already the "black sheep" i might as well now go further
  
• NEVER take you child to a mixed faith marriage.
  
• Take them to Anand Karaj of Sikh weddings as much as possible.
  
• NEVER bad mouth other Sikhs, leaders, jathas, Sants, gianis etc. Children do not need to hear disheartening gossip.
  
• Never bad mouth family members. Child needs to think the family is tight and if he/she does anything bad the whole family will disapprove, but also there to support.
  
• Never have family row in front of children. NEVER use children to take sides!!
  
• Treat Daughters like you would treat boys. if you dont like your boys cutting their hair, the same should be for eyebrows. Soon as you have 2 sets of rules, your on slippery grounds.

SarabhaPanjab, Singhni and others your comments are welcome in trying to protect the children but also no ifs, no buts, public enquiry now into the failings of the Police, CPS and Social Services in their negligence to protect 'children' from Pakistani grooming gangs.

This should be a Judge led enquiry and ALL participants to swear under oath.

The Police failed to serve and protect.

The CPS are meant to prosecute if there was enough evidence and in the public interest.

The Social Services provided no services to the children.

Enough is enough the Police, CPS and Social Services need to be in the dock to answer for their failings.

A public apology to Shere Panjab is in order after all they brought the issue up of grooming over a generation ago.

Putting a slightly wider spin on this issue.

It comes down to parents, siblings & extended family knowing how to show love and care to youngsters regardless of if your sikh, christian etc. As the next generation to become parents/older siblings we need to learn how to show pyare and empathy to our youngsters. Talking and taking steps are two different things. If you have young siblings start spending time with them&showing interest to them today! Tomorrow might be too late. We need to fix up our homes before we help outside.

The question has to be asked where there any serving or ex-members of the Police that were/are involved in these paedophile rings?
