Guru Nanak Dev Sahib - Born Mukth or Not?

Recommended Posts

Dear sadsangat. I have been wondering for some time now, and this won't let me sleep as its kept me thinking at night.

Was Maharaaj, Guru Nanak Dev Sahib born as a perfect being?

Was it later on when Maharaaj when to the river when he got the message from God? or was it in Sachkandh before that the message was passed to Him from God?

I am very confused. The sadsangat can only help.

Forgive me

Because he got so engrossed in the naam. That was the reason why.He was born in this world as a sat guru.

There was a story of guru angad dev ji when he was a guru.(I think it was guru angad dev ji)One day he sat in one pose for seven days without moving eating etc.The sangat got worried and asked guru ji and guru ji said he was to engrossed in naam .

Some sources say that he became enlightened at the river while other sources say he was enlightened at birth. Personally I believe he became realised later on because earlier in life he was seeking for god and going through the classic signs of a unrealised bhagat like vairaag and yearning for God but when he got enlightened (river) he went on an udasi to teach others about God.

How come you are losing sleep over this LOL?

Lol, of course Maharaj was born perfect and Mukth. Read Bhai Gurdas Ji's Vars. They explain that Guru Ji was sent directly by Vaheguru Ji himself. Guru Ji was already SatGuru when they were born. Look at all the stories when Guru Ji was a child. The snake protecting them from the sun, teaching his teachers instead of the other way round etc. Unrealised bhagat in earlier life? No way. Even the realised brahmgianis have a yearning for God continuoulsy. Doesn't mean they haven't found God. It's the way it is.

N30S1NGH explained it perfectly.

If the yearning is still there then they have not realised the Lord. What is there to yearn about when you have realised the Lord (sackhand)?

Possibly the limitations of the human body / condition coming to the fore and how it affects the mind? Although I'm not sure Guru Sahib would suffer from these issues like we do.

And how do you know that? Have you realised God? It's a yearning to constantly be in God's presence even if they are already there. Maybe yearning is the wrong word. Anyway, maybe I am wrong about the yearning thing but I maintain that Guru Ji was born SatGuru and already Mukth. It's like Brahmgianis and even Guru Sahibs. Why do they keep repeating Naam with their tongues if they have already found God. Once you are at that stage, you keep repeating naam forever.
