i know people are going to say that this has been discussed alot but im afraid people STILL take Sikhi and Amrit as a joke. Ill be short and to the point. A close friend of mine is bad. Shes amritdhari and does very bad stuff. She has been with boys but this isnt the problem. Im not really fussed about what she does because its her life and i have spent ages trying to sort her out, in the nicest way i can. Recently she started talking me into this kala. Im obviously not stupid to listen to her but shes acting like a vichole when ive told her i do not want to be associated with boys. This kala has been asking me out for quite some time and i try to but canot avoid him or this so called singhni who wants us together more than anything, telling us that we 'suit'! Im shocked at the amount of entertainment amrittaaris get from gosipping and trying to hook their friend with some next kala that im not even interested in. Gosh! I cant belive i have to listen to so much gand. I try and even do simran when im alone in college yet these 'modern' amrittaris try to polute my mind which is already fuzzy. Does anyone else feel the same or been in a similar situation? What can be done, is it lack of 'bhae' from god?is it something else? It has now become extremely annoying and saddening to see such gand going around todays youth.

Find new sangat and stop interacting with such people.

Tell an elder Gursikh in the area or her parents what is going on, if you would sacrifice your friendship with her for the truth.

Otherwise, if you tolerate it, it will continue

Be yourself. Even if you have to live a lonely life. True Love does come easy but you have to work hard and go through so many hardships. If you sink your feet to your ground you will be much better than these modern people.

you should just avoid her ,she is doing all this to spoil your life and get fun out of all this ,i know this because one of my friend did this to me ,she said all this perfect match blah blah stuff and encourraged me to purpose a girl ,she was just trying to make fun of us ,which i got to know later , everyone has their own karam ,so let her do whatever she want but iff she interfere in your life ,give her a good reply ,this boyfriend -girlfriend thing is just waste of time , she is on 1 side amritdhari and other side she is doing all this shows, that amrit is just a show off for her and such people dont deserve amrit ,i dont know whether you have taken amrit or not but jithe takk meh keh sakda just stay away from this gf-bf ,(not to be harsh but most of us today are into this just for sex ) ,

so my main advice

1. stay away from her ,dont get influenced ,no matter what she say,oh vekh kinaa cute ehh,oh tenu like karda eh blah blah :respect:

2. as for the guy ,,just say no and if he misbehaves ,call your brothers :nono:

3. try to make new friend ,it must not be a amritdhari but someone trustworthy with good character and jeh tussi amritdhari friend lab rahe ho for getting better at sikhi ,find some in sangat

oven tussi UK te lagde oh ,just remember eh tuhaade karam ne te ehda kitaa tussi aap pugatna eh ,and you can also share your things with your mom or sister ,tuhaanu eh difficult lagega shayad par it makes you stay from wrong road and make your relation stronger ,oven vi you are 21 ,1-2 saal te you will get engaged ,fer jinni marzi gal karleyo apne hubby naal , :lol2:

You have got some very good advice from the Sangat above but I just wanted to emphasise what jpsingh2 bhaji said. Please think carefully about how you say things.

Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee themselves got down on their knees to ask for Amrit. The Panj Pyares who had given their heads for Amrit asked Guru Jee, we have given our heads, what will you give? Guru Jee gave bachan he would sacrifice his entire family/lineage for Amrit. Nobody takes Amrit as a joke. But Gurbani tells us that 'this path is sharper than the edge of a sword and finer than a strand of hair' and also tells us that 'only Guru Jee and Vaheguru are without fault'. If somebody waivers from the Path and/or does wrong then by all means say this person did this or that but please, just my humble beanti, do not tarnish Guru Jees Amrit by saying an Amritdhari did this or did that etc.

    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
    • All of these are suppositions, bro. Linguists know that, generally, all the social classes of a physical area speak the same language, though some classes may use more advanced vocabulary. I'm talking about the syntax. That is, unless the King is an invader, which Porus was not. When you say Punjabi wasn't very evolved, what do you mean? The syntax must have been roughly the same. As for vocabulary, do you really think Punjabis at the time did nothing more than grunt to express their thoughts? That they had no shades of meaning? Such as hot/cold, red/yellow/blue, angry/sweet/loving/sad, etc? Why must we always have an inferiority complex?
    • I still think about that incident now and then, just haven't heard any developments regarding what happened, just like so many other things that have happened in Panjab!
    • There was a young Singh from abroad who went to Anandpur Sahib Hola and got into a fight with some Punjabis who were playing loud non-religious music. He had bana and a weapon or two. There were more of them than him.  He ended up losing his life. Don't be like that. Not worth it to fight manmukhs. @californiasardar1 ਮੂਰਖੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਲੁਝੀਐ ॥੧੯॥ Argue not with a fool. p473
