There was an English lady who used to come to programs that I go to and she never understood Gurbani. Never even knew Punjabi. But when she was asked as to WHY she kept coming to listen to Kirtan she said " Because when I listen to it, the hairs on my body stand on end...they shiver."

I have been blessed with the gift of Amrit and I feel as if this woman felt alot more LAHA from Gurbani then I have. But then again, how does one MEASURE lahaa? How can you tell of another's spiritual progress or experiences?

Gurbani Is Jagg Meh Chanaan

Gurbani is meant for this WHOLE world and not just Sikhs in general.

However, I agree with Mehtab Singh that the more you become in tune with what Gurbani is preaching, the more you will follow Guru's Teachings and become Guru Ka Sikh.

All the Sikhs and servants come to worship and adore You; they sing the sublime Bani of the Lord, Har, Har.

gwivAw suixAw iqn kw hir Qwie pwvY ijn siqgur kI AwigAw siq siq kir mwnI ]1]

Their singing and listening is approved by the Lord; they accept the Order of the True Guru as True, totally True. ||1||

As Pheena jee said, LOVE and ONLY LOVE is the only prerequisite requirement, and I fully agree.

Forgive me for my foolish way of thinking, but this is what I feel (I am going to write my mind out here).

What does it mean to love someone? First there is love, then it starts to grow, and then a stage comes when it reaches a stage where one proclaims "the fire of love burns within me" (no I am not writing under the influence of Bollywood or narcotics). This is where you surrender totally to the one you love. You cease to act or think according to your will and happily give it all upto the one you love. Taking Amrit is this very stage of love. You are so madly and crazily in love with SatGuru Jee that you fall at His feet and surrender yourself totally to Him (no I am not there yet  ). And that LOVE, my friends, is what will take us across. I do support THIS LOVE as the sole requirement for ANY religion.

I am not questioning the love of someone who is a Mona or a non-Amritdhari, but all I am saying is that if someone truly has reached that stage of love, they will for sure take Amrit (just my opinion) . It is with Gurujee's grace that one grows gradually up this ladder of love.

I am in no way saying that Amritdharis are superior to anyone. If my earlier post sounded so,

I apologize.

Sorry for the long message, dunno how much sense it made.
