What is the importance of vishram in bani?

dunno about any saakhi but according to bhagat jaswant singh ji, there are 3 pauses: vishram (long), jamkee (medium) and thamkee (short).

they help us understand the meanings of each tuk better, more clearly...my opinion is a longer pause wud indicate greater emphasis and longer contemplation on the shabad...but maybe someone wiv more knowledge can confirm this or explain it better...
