It is an accepted fact that Sikhism propagates the use of Raag and Gurbani as a means of worship of the Almighty. This tradition has been passed down through the innovation of Raagis (Those that sing the Raags.) The very first raagi acknowleged in Sikh history was Guru Nanak Dev Jis trusted friend and companion Bhai Mardana Ji. Legend has it that when Guru Nanak was given Bani to recite to the world from the Divine, the same power would also instruct Bhai Mardana to pluck the Rabab in a certain Raag. Everynight at the gurdwara when SukhAsan takes place and Guru Granth Sahib jee is respectfully carried on the head of a beloved GurMukh, the rest of the GurMukh pyarios' sing : ਜਿਥੈਜਾਇਬਹੈਮੇਰਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਸੋਥਾਨੁਸੁਹਾਵਾਰਾਮਰਾਜੇ॥ Jithai jāė bahai mėrā saṯgurū so thān suhāvā rām rājė. Wherever my True Guru goes and sits, that place is beautiful, O Lord King. The dhol is being beaten, the shaneh (bells and symbols) are chiming, a group of ten children are at the front, the rest of the Sangat follow behind as Guru Sahib goes to the Peace (Sukh) position (Asan) upstairs on the bed. It feels like Guru Gobind Singh jee himself is riding majestically by and the Sangat bow, applyin…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Before reading the sakhi below could I request all Sikhs of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj to post stories about Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj for the next few weeks? As Sikhs of that Guru we are meant to follow our Guru’s footsteps and if we don’t even know where he walked how can we follow him? So please even if it’s a very well known sakhi please post so we can all learn something about our beautiful friend, father, king and guru. Many people of all religions began to flock to Sachkhand Sr Anandpur Sahib Ji to be blessed with the darshan of that king of this world and the next Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Ma…

How did it all start? Life is just a phase WHy do we say that? Everybody we love isn't really ours either They are just a part of this world The same world in which people don't even know who they are The world in which they god is in heven But isn't god within us Isn't he suppose to be around us ISN'T HE SUPPOSE TO BE EVERYWHERE?! WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE? Is it something in which we just wander or is to just make up for our mistakes My waheguru says that its to fin…

WJKK WJKF This may be a stupid question and if so, I dont mean to offend anybody however I was wondering whether a pesh kabz style shastar could be worn in place of the traditional shape kirpan. Appreciate any input.

Dhan Guru Arjun Dev jee (meditating upon whom will release one from cycle of births and deaths - japio jin arjun dev guroo fer sankat jon garab na aa-i-o), says 'Jo Mangeh Takur apany tey so-ee Soee devay' 'whatever is asked from the Master that is exactly what is given'. In Hibernia Road Gurudwara they have this in big letters across the entrance to the Darbar. I used to think this meant whatever you asked for in Ardas is what you'll get, but all ardas's don't come true do they? So what does it mean? The answer clicked when my dad was watching a nature program, some creatures have evolved to lea…
