Gursikh Women Martyrs of the Anandpur Battle Enclosing Anandpur in a Fort, Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj initiated the battle for freedom and sovereignty. The biting sound of his “Ranjit Nagara,” a large kettle drum, shook up and instilled fear among the neighboring Hill Rajas. They had started considering Kalgidhar Patshah as their arch enemy and deployed several strategies to get him to leave Anandpur. The Rajas of the 22 mountain ridges (BaiDhar) consolidated themselves against Guru Maharaj, blew the trumpets of war and initiated regular attacks against Anandpur Sahib. However, the courageous GurSikhs warriors, under the command of our Tenth Guru, displayed such martia…

ABUNDANCE, POVERTY, AND THE ECONOMY Kanwar Ranvir Singh "That one alone knows the Way who earns with the sweat of the brow and then shares with others." This dictum of Guru Nanak, (born 1469, the first of the ten Sikh Gurus), lays out the basic economic thought of the Sikhs. It is a society in which labor rather than monkish asceticism is the true _expression of spirituality, and in which the sharing of abundance rather than accumulation of scarcity is the basic economic motivation. The Gurus condemned monks because they felt that they were other- worldly. By contrast, the Gurus promoted the view that God was present in the world. "Air/Breath is the Guru…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Gur Pyareo, here is another short shabad which teaches us how temporary worldly affairs are--in another example Guru Jee compares them to Sand Castles... mu 5 || dhaamunee chumuthukaar thio vuruthaaraa jug khae || vuthh suhaavee saae naanuk naao jupu(n)dho this dhhunee ||2|| Fifth Mehl: Like the flash of lightning, worldly affairs last only for a moment. The only thing which is pleasing, O Nanak, is that which inspires one to meditate on the Name of the Master. ||2|| This Shabad is by Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Gauree on Pannaa 319 http://www.sikhitothemax.com/Page.asp?Sour...=&ShabadID=1232

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Once upon a time.... Each gurmukh was really equal to Sava Lakh [125,000].Now a days.... Most of the so called sikhs are so much addicted by drugs/alcohol leave aside 1.25 Lakh they are not even ready to face a single person who may insult them/their sisters or mother/their Guru Sahib. Once upon a time.... There was love among all Gursikhs [sikhs of character, integrity, dignity, pride, kindness, rejection of the Bipran/Brahminism and Brahminical rituals, follow Gurus' teachings and Nationalism, etc.] Now a days.... There is nothing but hatred among most of us. Once upon a time.... There …

Gurfateh! 8 and a half years ago I was totally unaware of Sikhi. I had cut hair and used to eat meat, it was the norm for me and my family as a whole. I knew we went to a place called a Gurdwara, and that there was something special about the Gurdwara, that separated it from my house or any other building. But I knew nothing about our Guru Sahibaans or of the rich history of Sikhi. Then when I was about seven years old, I went along with my family to Panjaab because it was my Mama Ji's wedding. The wedding took place as normal, I carried on living life unsuspecting the big change that would take place within me in a few weeks time. Anyway a few weeks later…

Need Of The Hour

SatNaam I think at the moment, what Sikhs needs is 2 kinds of leadership. One, those individuals who were born in Sikh families, but upto a certain age didn't realize the essence of Sikhi, and got themselves into all kinds of messes, but later on returned to their roots and became Sikhs worth looking upto. These leaders can make today's confused Sikh youth aware of the fact that there is always a way to come back, that there is no need to despair, that they can always return and yet find their Guru awaiting them with His arms open to greet them back to their home. The second kind of leaders would be ones who are not born into Sikh families, but into non-Sikh ones. Thes…

Sikhism : A Universal Religion And The Only Indian

*WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH* Saadh sangat ji, i have been thinking about this for a few years. Sikhi is undoubtedly a universal religion as it carries a message for everyone at all times. The reason i call it the only Indian religion is because we have 4 religions that have taken birth in India : Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Hinduism is sometimes defined by some people as more of a culture than a religion, although i wouldn't want to comment anything about this statement since there are people who stand both for and against it. Besides, i am talking about Sikhism here. Buddhism and Jainism have very little following left in India. Besides, Bud…

http://www.snsm.org.my/library/articles/bani1.htm Powers and Effects of the Daily Banis JAPJI SAHIB: Control ones' 'ji', one's soul. When you ji, your being is endangered, when the radiance of your soul is weak, recite Jap Ji. Guru Nanak's blessing is that the thirty-eight pauris of Jap Ji will liberate humanity from the cycles of birth and death. SHABAD HAZAARAY: This is the highest disciple's love letter, written by Guru Arjun to Guru Ram Das. Its boon is that it gives the benefits of a thousand shabads, and the soul shall directly merge with God. It makes the separated ones come home with grace. Those who recite this shabad shall never be separated from their Belove…

Lord ! Lead us out of the Darkness of Falsehood Raag Majh ki // (SGGS: 145) This age is like a drawn sword, the kings are butchers; Goodness hath taken wings and flown. In the dark night of falsehood, I see not the (luminious) moon of truth anywhere; I grope after Truth - and am bewildered. I see no path in the darkness; It is the obstinacy with which Man Clings to his petty self-hood That causes this anguish; Nanak asks: Where is the path of Salvation? - - except through the Lord.

Is it just me or do girls not keep there hair anymore? :D I mean no girl. They keep some long hair but if it gets too long then they cut it. And some girls keep there hair but trim off split ends and stuff. it's so disgusting because most of them are my friends too. I wish that more people would actually respect the fact that it is our uniqueness and girls these days should understand this. Well I just let out what I think is right. Thanks for listening.

TAKING AND BREAKING AMRIT Think about two words people put together Breaking Amrit. Some talk about "Taking Amrit" and "Breaking Amrit". Ask yourself, how can you take something that isn't yours? And how can you break something that is Eternal? What does the word Amrit mean in Siri Guru Granth sahib Ji? THE FIRST AND HIGHEST AMRIT Here's what I understand. Bhai Gurdas Ji says that God is inside us like fire is hidden inside the wood. When someone is blessed enough with the highest state and realise God inside them, then God manifests in two spiritual forms - LIGHT and AMRIT. That great and blessed soul experiences light brighter than all the suns and their…
