Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh! How come Singhnees always have to wear pajamis with their cholas and Singhs dont have to? Like how the Singh's just wear their kachera under their cholla but singhnees have to wear pajamis. I am just wondering because I have never seen a Singhnee do that before. When one travels around Amritsar, you feel the smog, car horns, dust, etc. It is complete chaos, even right up to the complex. He was discussing Sahib Siri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, and the construction of Siri Harmandar Sahib. Sikhs been living in canada, uk and usa more than 100 yr but our soo called gurdwara leaders has completely failed to educated western media about our relegion.. forget about other peeps but we couldnt even educate our youths????? I was sittin down i thought... Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it. -
Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. back then was waaaay different. ppl didn’t attend higher education or have much to do after the age of like… 13, lol. you’d have 13 year olds boys and girls that know how to do kethi, cook entire meals, etc nowadays even 22 year olds are extremely immature and can be sheltered. the average person doesn’t know how to do anything except their 9-5 which they are probably half arsing as well.
