Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh Today in the early hours of the morning a young Sikh girl at the age of 15 has died of leukaemia at the Southampton General Hospital. A humble request, that we all as a sangath do 5 Chupai Sahib Ji deh paath, for the peace of the rest of the family and for all those other young children who are dying out there. We complain about how cold it is, the food we eat, uni exams and essays etc etc. Lets thank Akaal Purakh Vaheguru that those of us who are fit and healthy that we are not disabled, we are not living knowing we are being eaten away by a cancer cell and we can actually wake up every morning to what ever it is that we do …

Fateh Ji I recently attended the Hayes smagam and also Khalsa Camp 09. In their katha, Gianni Thakur Singh ji iterated the amount of satkaar that should be shown to SGGSJ. Eg. when visiting and leaving the darbar hall, a matha taek should occur. They then went on to say that even if a pillar comes in between yourself and SGGSJ during one's movement in the darbaar hall, a matha taek should occur. Along the similar lines, Bhai Surjit Singh ji at Khalsa Camp 09 iterated that during kirtan the visual link between the kirtani and SGGSJ should be maintained. For example, once a sevadaar was no longer required to do choar sahib di seva, he was not allowed to walk between SGGS…

Back to school time is here again. Although I try to keep this blog focused on dharm, the reality of our lives is that we live in the real world, we have to go to school, study, get jobs, and serve through our financial and kirt seva. I've spent a considerable amount of time researching study skills, thus far I haven't found any strategies that feel like they are a good fit for me. Most of them seem too artificial or inefficient. In the hopes of helping out the dharmically minded youth, I present to you the best study skills blog, with the best study skills methodology that I've found. Please spread this everywhere, on all the forums, so that our youth can get a leg up.…

NEARLY NINETY SIKH ORGANIZATIONS REQUEST STRICT ACTION AGAINST HERETIC RAGI PANTHIC.ORG Published on January 5, 2010 Amritsar Sahib - Nearly ninety prominent Sikh institutions and Gurdwaras across North America and England requested Sri Akal Takht Sahib to take strict action against the heretic Ragi Darshan Singh on January 7th of 2010 for his continued blasphemy against Sri Dasam Bani, Nitnem, Amrit-Sanchar Banis, and the Sikh Ardaas. The Ragi has been re-summoned to appear at Sri Akal Takht on January 7th to explain his position; however he has publicly vowed to disobey the Apex Sikh Takht. If the Ragi fails to appear at the Takht on the requested date, it i…

http://www.gopetitio...line/33077.html The 25th October 2009 became an historic day for Sadh Sangat (Congregation) of Leamington & Warwick, after just 18 months of construction our Landmark Gurdwara Sahib opened by the grace and arrival of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This dream and vision became a reality through years of forward planning, excellent project management and especially fund raising by the entire Sadh Sangat, which is a momentous achievement for such a small Sikh community. On the 25th March 2009, a General Ajlas (Meeting) was held, during which the Sadh Sangat unanimously approved the creating of a Guru Ka Bagh (Gardens), a National Sikh Heritage Centr…

Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committees decision to amend the sikh calendar Nanakshahi is based on a visionary approach which would pave the way for the panthic unity and prove to be a milestone in this direction. This was stated by Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa Chief of Damdami Taksal and President of the Sant Samaj. In a statement released here from the head office on Tuesday, Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa said that Nanakshahi calendar is a calendar of the whole sikh panth which was not accepted by takht Sri Patna Sahib and Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib Nanded when it was implemented almost some years ago and Sant Samaj too had some reservations about it. Amendments no…

After the recent Detroit incident, I have heard about some instances of Sikhs being harassed on flights. I want to know if it has gone as far as asking a Sikh to remove his/her turban off. I am asking about domestic flights that travel within US, not international ones. Has anyone traveled by air within US in the past week or so and faced problems?

Vaheguroo ji ka Khalsa vaheguroo ji ki fateh dass would like to ask one question to the hardcore dasam Granth supporters please note in no way do I agree with the missioanry school of thought. What I would ask is if tommorow the brainboxes of the panth ( both pro and anti dasam Granth) debate this issue at Akaal takhat and the decision is made that certain parts of dasam Granth is not Gurus rachnaa would the sampardas and the pro dasam Granth guys accept this? No point in askin the anti guys as I dont think there are any this site, please note this is just a question not a attempt to start a debate. Bhul chuk Maaf

A very sad incident happened some time back. The Baba Isher Singh School located in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, Punjab appointed a Hindu Principal by the name of Mrs. Kundra. There was a dastaar wearing sikh girl in 8th grade. Mrs. Kundra told this girl to stop wearing the dastaar and told her " You look neither a boy nor a girl, you look somewhere in between". She tried to mock the girl. The girl told this to her parents who wanted an apology from the Principal but Mrs. Kundra refused to apologize and even the school authority remained silent and could not get an apology. The question to ask is Why did a Sikh school have a Hindu principal ? Couldnt they find a …

Defending the controversial approval of changes in the Nanakshahi calendar by the SGPC executive, the Akal Takht Jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh, has expressed the hope that the changed calendar will work as a “catalyst for unity among the Sikhs. These changes will be implemented from March 14, he added. The direct fallout of the changes in the hitherto widely accepted calendar will be that from March 14 onwards, the dates of important days will hardly remain fixed as was the case in the widely accepted Nanakshahi calendar, based on the solar system and calculations. A large number of Sikh bodies were opposing the changes in the calendar on the plea that these changes w…
