Minty Breath while simran?
by Guest missk- 8 replies
- 1.6k views
WkkWkf, I recently started doing sirmran, I am still on the first stage for most of the time I guess ( repition with my tongue ). Of recent I've noticed the back of throat feels very minty/fresh . Is this because my mouth is open (since I'm reciting) for most of the time while I do simran? Also whenever I start my simran, I notice in the beginning I go through emotional ups and downs. Does this happen to anyone else? Am I doing something wrong? Thank you

How do I get my sister interested in Sikhi? 1 2

WGJKK WGJKF! Dear Sangat Ji, I am a Punjabi guy who needs advice on getting his sister more interested in Sikhi. Our family lives in the west, and our upbringing was not very religious at all, apart from going to Gurdwara once a week. I am 20 years old and started to explore Sikhi on my own, to find out more about my past, and I fell in love with it. I am not the most practicing Sikh, but am trying to make myself better. I have started doing more sewa and am currently in the process of learning Japji Sahib. So I am making some progress. The thing is, I want my sister to experience the same joy that I found in Sikhi, but I am having difficulty getting her to open up to i…

I'm not sure if I've found the right place for what I'd like to discuss. Feel free to have a read and if you can offer advice, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm 22 years old now. I was Christened as a baby but my upbringing was standard for living in North East England and there hasn't really been any religious way of living (i.e. attending place of worship etc). Although, on record, I am registered as being Christian, I don't see myself as being Christian. I haven't exactly got a religion, but I do have beliefs: I have a wide range of knowledge of all of the worldwide major religions. I find sense with some aspects and not so much with others. I believe in God, howe…

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh Please could someone help me with some questions. - I have a Christian name. Can I have naam sanskar with amrit sanchar, if so how do I request this? I spoke to a granthi ji at Singh Sabha Gurdwara Southall, who did not understand why I wanted a new name? When pressed he said I should ask the panj pyare before the sanchar and they will decide if i am eligible for a new name. I can't surely be called eg Mathew John Singh? What's the standard procedure here and how do I approach the panj piare? - I have done my best to learn Punjabi. It is good enough for casual conversation but I am scared of not understanding the panj piare du…

Sangat ji I have managed to come into a bit of money. And was wondering, post dasvand settlement, is it wrong to buy shares? The acquisition I propose to make will be calculated. (I.e. gor'rment backed Lloyds shares). Thoughts appreciated.

Racists

SSA, Hi everyone. Well I have been unemployed for quite a while now. Which is bad enough on its own. But my last 2 interviews have left me feeling quite bad. on both occasions i got the feeling that the interviewers where racist. I got quite a few snidely looks ect. is this due to the current climate. ie with 'Asians' all over the papers for bad stuff . and white people reading the papers everyday about how bad Asians are? ive never felt this amount of hatred before. ie i have many white friends in the past. but now i just feel totally different about white people and how racist they can be.

Is this possible or not ? 99 % Amritdhari women are Kurehati's and will never do Pesh in front of Singhs doing Seva of Punj Piyaras. Does it mean they are doomed or can there be an Amtit Sanchar for the women by the women.

Hi all, I'm trying to set up a Sikhi Forum on StackExchange. It requies people to follow it and upvote questions and generally take part. An Islam one, Christianity one, Hinduism one, a Buddhim one and a Judaism one are all either created or have lots of followers but no one yet has set up a Sikhism one. Any support would be much appreciated. http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/52432/sikhism Thanks.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I have gone through one article where some Sikhs believe that Cow is important to Sikhs maybe they are Namdhari Sikhs.... But is cow important to Sikhs???? and there are some Gurbani Tukhs written in this article by Bhagat Singh http://www.sikhphilosophy.net/sikh-youth/22775-the-importance-of-cows-in-sikhism.html The Khaamadhayn, the cow of miraculous powers, is the singing of the Glory of the Lord's Name, Har, Har. Guru Arjan Dev When it rains, the cows always have grass to graze upon, and housewives can churn the milk into butter. Guru Nanak Dev If the rivers became cows, giving milk, and the spring water became milk an…
