Sikh and Muslim coupld 1 2 3

I have recently found out a very close relative (boy) has been going out with a Muslim girl for a while and he intends to marry her. How should I approach this? I can’t believe it as she isn’t even pretty and she’s fat. It doesn’t even make sense as he’s a nice looking typical Punjabi boy who can be shallow. And he’s very protective of you say anything about her. he comes from a sikh family where his mom is religious and all his extended family too. He was brought up around sikhi but spoilt I guess, put on a pedestal and no fear of elders instilled in him. Still... it doesn’t make sense as she’s not even attractive where it could be lust!! it effects the…

There's a thread on the main page giving thanks to Sikh Medics on the frontline of coronavirus. But I want to dedicate this thread to some real unsung heroes ; The Sikh auntiyan who work as hospital cleaners in the UK. From West Middlesex Hospital to Hillingdon to Sandwell to Birmingham to Southampton General to the Royal London - up and down this country there has been and continues to be an army of Sikh auntiyan that deep clean the bed spaces of coronavirus patients. For minimum wage they selflessly put themselves at even greater risk than the doctors and nurses because, Unlike the medics, they are given no in-depth training nor provided with scrubs to wear, fit-teste…

Sikh Beliefs About The Soul & Moksha? 1 2
by Guest _Seeker_- 12 replies

Hi, I am very interested to learn more about Sikh beliefs on moksha. Do Sikhs believe jivas are eternal? When we reunite with God will we retain our individuality? like in the Vaishnava belief of returning to Vaikuntha to be individual souls with Vishnu/Krishna, is there a Sikh equivalent of Vaikuntha? Thank you for answering my questions. I want to know if Sikhism teaches that souls are eternal.

Sikh Births - A Little Help Pointing Me In The Right Direction
by Guest John H- 2 replies

Hi friends reading this, I am a 35 year old Anglo Saxon male living in Northern England. My friends baby is due within the month and I would very much like to mark this special occasion in a traditional way. Just maybe offer a small inexpensive gift. I understand some of the traditions involved regarding the temple and naming. Then the grandparents have a role. Sorry to be vague folks but I don't want to drop the ball and seem inappropriate. Is it best just swerving it all together and with a little distance offer best wishes. Thank you so much for any help given. John

Sikh Boys And Their Attitudes Towards Girls With Hair
by Guest Curious- 2 replies
- 1.4k views
I was curious - our religion asks both men and women to keep hair. However wherever I go I don't see women keeping hair (arm hair, leg hair, eyebrow hair, upper lip hair etc) Even the American white sikh women 3HO who are quite famous don't keep full body hair. You can clearly see in their videos that they do upper lip and eyebrow plucking. I was curious about whether the men like it this way and therefore haven't encouraged the women to keep their hair. Surely we should be raising our sikh boys with the view that they marry a sikh girl who keeps full body hair. Also I've noticed there is a huge emphasis on boys having the turban but none for the girls. No wonder many …

Sikh Channel

I dont mean to offend, well maybe I do. The Sikh Channel is NOT a Gurdwara, why are they begging for money? It is a business nothing else. If the channel was run by an established Gurdwara I would understand them asking from the "Sangat". Another thing that annoys me is that they call everyone "Sangat". We are not sangat we are their TV Audience. How can one sangat while sitting in PJ's watching TV with a cup of Tea in one hand? What do you think?

Sikh Channel

We've seen over the passed few days an appeal to keep Sikh Channel functioning and for people to set up direct debits as a way of contributing/sewa. As with everything we do, we should do some due diligence checks before parting with any money. Mr Davinder Singh Bal's records at Companies House and the Solicitors Regulation Authority show he has a potted history of being involved in companies that have gone into liquidation. Kam (the presenter and person named as in charge) doesn't appear on Companies House as a director of Sikh Channel CIC. It's all well and good to support Sikh ventures but one should be mindful of what's actually going on and is Sikh Channel…
