Members 316 Posted 3 hours ago If you’ve ever had a run in with O9A types you’ll know how they tend to be more troublesome than the average racist. Lay…

Thought I'd start a thread about books worth reading. They don't have to be Sikhi related. I picked up: Confessions of an economic hit man by John Perkins. Have been told it's a must read.

Bhangra is popularly pushed as a "Panjabi Harvest Dance" by our own people. Here's an interesting read about Bhangra and how it was unknown in East Panjab. The crazy Bhangra performances at weddings or silly Bhangra moves on stage are a new invention. How Not to Dance Bhangra [Bazaar. London . Summer 1987] Bhangra isn’t a folk dance, but a spicy mixture of nine Punjabi folk dances – Dhamāl, Gidha, Jalli, Jhummar, Luddi, Pathania, Phumania, Sammi and Sialkoti bhangra B hangra performed in this country is not authentic; not to speak of the bhangra performed in Bombay films and youth festival…

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/index.html Does this finally put the mask debate to bed? 'Gold standard' analysis of 78 studies and 1million people finds face coverings made 'little to no difference' to Covid infection or death rates The research - carried out by the Cochrane Institute , the 'gold standard' of evidence-based reviews, looked at 78 global studies involving over a million people. I came across a couple of unfortunate incidents in the news recently that served to get me thinking about issues that i suppose go to the heart of Sikh philosophy. We are instructed not to veer towards extremes; that the correct path is the balanced, considered middle way. Sikhi is as much a faith about standing up for oneself and battling for those who cannot defend themselves, as it is a faith that believes that love and kindness are essential traits if we are to live fruitful lives, and eventually merge with God. How does one decide which situation merits a particular approach? Some Sikhs would have us believe that the default position must always be the one of to…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Guru Pyaare Saadh sangat Ji, We would like to update the Sangat on the situation since the protest that took place on 29th May 2012 in Luton. Anan Majid Basharat has now been charged with 3 accounts of rape and one account of ABH. He is due to appear in Luton Crown Court in December for a plea and case management hearing. The news was prevented to be broadcasted by the court due to potential racial tension, but since it was published today in “Luton on Sunday” newspaper we feel the sangat should be aware too. The violence and harassment prior, and the barbarity of the rape ordeal were on a sadistic level. It left members o…
