I wanted to get a view on the topic of ashes- in Sikhism are we allowed to keep a small part of ashes for a keepsake in a small urn or for jewellery whilst scattering the rest in a river? I am asking for a friend who is struggling with the loss of her daughter she doesn’t want to do anything that goes against our faith or isn’t the right thing for her daughters journey in afterlife but at the same time is struggling with the ashes ceremony and wishing to keep some ashes. Please forgive no offence intended by this question.

What is causing all the root problems for Sikhs? From weak leaders who can't run Punjab. To society issues in the Punjabi Sikh community back home and in the west Let's look at some main issues. Broken marriages/divorces, domestic violence, crime, sexual offenses/rape adultery, physical and mental health problems, family break downs, money, low morality, ethics and values and the list goes on ect. Feel free to add more issues affecting us. Can we pinpoint a root cause for all the above? I have a theory why Sikhs are failing not just in the west but in more importantly our own homeland Punjab.

Drive carefully, Singhs. This is why truck drivers in India knock back those small glasses of tea during the journey.

Interesting study comparing Panjabi economic migrants with Tamils in Lebanon. It's obvious that the authors have recorded all Panjabis as Hindus, but I'm sure most would be Sikh. Also, the disproportionate amount of Doabans is predictable. https://www.mei.edu/publications/indian-labor-migrants-lebanon-comparative-study-migrants-punjab-and-tamil-nadu

This news is a bit old but I'm quite happy to see this since there are no Sikh schools in Australia (unlike 20 Jewish, 39 Islamic and 1700 Christian schools). I really hope the school has compulsory Sikh religious classes and Panjabi language studies for everyone (like Arabic language studies/Qur'an classes are compulsory in Muslim schools and religion in Catholic schools).
