  1. A bit off-topic but i think my reply will relate to this topic in some way... To clear doubt: Everybody (all Jatha bandi) follows SGPC Rehat Maryada. SGPC (along with panth) approved extremely basic rehat early 1930's. Damdami Taksal & AKJ always stand under the nishaan sahib of Akal takht Sahib. SGPC comes under Akal Takht Sahib. Though SGPC officials are corrupt in daily dealings and became some sort of bureaucracy biased to one political party etc.. However material approved by panth 75+ years ago is authentic and everybody follows that. SGPC Rehat or Akal Takht Rehat states to do 7 Bania in a day ( Meditating on Nam (Divine Substance) and Scriptures Article IV) . It is actually Missionary college of Ludhiana who strongly believes in the concept of 3 bania. Guru Maharaj did favor to me on giving me sarrop of amritdhari at akj samagam 7 yrs ago. My dad & mom took took amrit from Taksal during 1980's after listening to sant jarnail singh jees speech @ manji sahib. It doesn't matter with whom you go along as long as all jahtabandi keep faith in Akal Takht Rehat Maryada and rest is upto us on how to do progress in our life. AKJ or Taksal and others strongly believes in SGPC rehat maryada but however they add additional clauses/articles but with total respect to sikh maryada. Few people may fight over those additional clauses/articles but we all know that they are wasting their priceless janam. If we start choosing on picking up amrit saanchars like in our mind saying this amrit saanchar is better than that one.. which u and i know is bad thing to do and shows that we are not spiritually ready for amrit saanchar.. Even if they took amrit while thinking of such thoughts then they will find very hard path to make spiritual progress in their life. After Amritsaanchar mostly everybody goes off-track once in a while. I went off-track not for couple of days but for few years and at that time i started looking around to blame and having thoughts that maybe i should have taken amrit saanchar from akal takht sahib or this or that. THAT IS VERY WRONG and very non-gurmat thinking.. I learned that very hard way and came to realize that it is my own mistake and It should be me to make progress to make connection with waheguru ji. Our mind is our own enemy and it takes lot of time/energy to deal with your this enemy. Only with guru jees blessing one will be able to beat our own mind. As gurbani said, one can conquer the whole world if you can conquer/control your mind. If you feel that you did something wrong according to rehat maryada that panj piyaray gave it to you then consult them whether you need peshi or not. One request to all is that do not judge or discuss whatever happens during amritsaanchar. We are not capable of doing that it should stay gupt (between you and guru sahib ji). sorry for long reply

  2. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!! This issue was first highlighted on the following thread: http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/57990-hire-of-a-gurdwara-hall-beadbi/ A group known as Ayrshire Sikh Association (Scotland) hold a monthy diwan at the Woodlands Centre (16 Kilwinning Road Irvine Ayrshire KA12 8RU). This a community centre run by North Ayreshire Council which functions as hall available for any community bookings, which would permit alcohol and meat. The saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is taken to these premises on a monthly basis. There is also a Gurdwara in Ayrshire which has been recently purchased by the local sangat, however due to some local issues Ayrshire Sikh Association do not associate with the only Guru Ghar in their town and carry on holding monthly diwans in the Woodlands Centre. The Woodlands Centre has been holding Sikh Diwans since 2003. In February 2010 the local Sangat were able to raise the finances to purchase a building to be their sole Gurdwara. With the hard work of the local sangat the Gurdwara was opened in October 2010. However. the Ayrshire Sikh Association (as an official body) are still holding monthly diwans in the Woodlands Centre and do not wish to attend the newly opened Gurdwara. The Gurdwara is around 1 mile from the Woodlands Centre. On Sunday 30th January 2011, Ayrshire Sikh Association will be holding their monthy diwan at the Woodlands Centre, where once again Maharaj's Saroop will be brought. It has been publicised as a landmark diwan: Newspaper Article The main issue is that the pavitar Saroop of Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is transported 40 miles from Glasgow every month and then taken to this council run community hall which would otherwise be involved in some non-Gurmat activities. There is also a local freelance Granthi in Ayreshire who involves himself with the monthly diwan Woodlands Centre. The whole intention of the local sikh sangat purchasing the Gurdwara building was to stop any beadbi which they felt was taking place over the 7 years. Whilst there is no denying of the sharda that the Ayrshire Sikh Association hold, taking the pavitar Saroop of Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to a place like Woodlands Centre is not only offensive and sacrilegous to Sikhs it is also in violation to Akal Takht Hukumanama of 1998. Pressure is being applied on the Ayrshire Sikh Association from some members of the UK Sikh Community to stop this beadbi and form a union with the local Guru Ghar, however Sangat pressure is now required to help resolve this issue. Please politetly email the management at Woodlands Centre and request that they refrain from hurting the sentiments of Sikhs by not allowing Ayrshire Sikh Association to bring Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji on their premises. 3. After the 1980's Sant Baba Thakur Singh Jee Served the khalsa panth and the khalistan movement in various ways, uner the guidance of Damdami Taksaal and Baba Jee the Panth Observed the Sarbat Khalsa in 1986. Baba Jee helped the familys of the shaheeds and inspired many thousands of youth into the khalsa fold. Declaration of Khalistan & Constitution of the Panthic Committee On the 26th of January 1986 the Damdami Taksal organized a Sarbat Khalsa (Sikh national gathering) at the Akal Takht in Amritsar, Punjab where a resolution for Khalistan was passed. Later that same year on April 29 a second Sarbat Khalsa was held, also at the Akal Takht in Amritsar, where a declaration of the independence of Khalistan was made and a 5 member Panthic Committee was constituted in order to carry out the objective of overseeing the independence of Khalistan. In 1986 Baba Jee's advice was sought of how the movement should be taken forward and Baba Jee said 5 Singhs should be appointed to lead the Panth (nation). Subsequently on 26th January 1986 a Sarbat Khalsa (gathering of the Sikh Nation) was called and a Panthic Committee was formed (committee comprising 5 Singhs, Bhai Aroor Singh, Bhai Gurdev Singh Usman Vala, Baba Gurbachan Singh Manochahal, Bhai Vassan Singh Zafferwal & Bhai Dhanna Singh). After Operation Blue Star the government was in a hurry to bring normality to Punjab or diffuse the situation and in their haste they sponsored Baba Santa Singh of Buddha Dal to rebuild the desecrated and damaged Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib. The Sikh nation was outraged, that, first the government destroys Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib, and then quickly re-builds it, by sponsoring Baba Santa Singh with a lucrative budget. This added fuel to the fire of the attack on the dignity of the Sikhs, and as a result, the Sikhs decided to tear down the government built Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib. Initially after the demolition of the government sponsored Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib, different Sants were given the seva of re-building it, but none of them were up to the humongous task ahead of them. The re-building had a stop and start fashion to it and in the end Baba Jee took on the leadership of the re-construction project, after which, the re-construction made steady progress. 4. No one is saying taksal is the purest form of sikhi. The purest is those brahm gianis that become one with akaal purkh, no matter which jathebandi they belong to. Taksal have tried to keep as much as possible the full rehat maryada of guru sahib, arths, santhia, shudhta, saud and throughout the times placed there heads at the charan of sri guru ram das jee and given many many shaheedia for the kaum and done immense parchar, amrit sanchaars and helped sangat on their journey towards our satguru sahib jee Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaj. The amount of parchar done by the jathedars of the taksal is amasing. Fateh

  5. ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ http://www.youtube.com/sikhyouthgermany I put the videos from Justin TV directly on youtube.... you can have a look there as well.... I didn't sort them yet it will take time... we need a gud audio editing program if somebody knows one that would be nice. I want to thanks once again to all who came from so far to take part of this kind of unique smagam. We had Sangat from France, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and all over Germany and ofcourse this time a big thanks to the lovly sangat from England. First time in our History it happend that Sangat from England came. It was our 3rd Smagam but defnetly the best. All the Sangat from Hamburg enjoyed the Smagam thanks for you all for comming and taking part of this great smagam. The European Sikh Youth Smagam is a Sanjah Smagam, where all kind of Jathes are taking part. This year we had Bhai Apardeep Singh ji, Bhai Hari Singh ji and Bhai Sukhwinder Singh ji. UK Sangat was suprised that we invited AKJ , Taksali etc... And for Sangat I can say it's normal for us to do respect of everybody.... It doesn't matter from where they comes in which Jathebandi they are, if they are Amritdhari or Mona. The respect in Sangat is all the same. Maharaj ne bohat sari Kirpa kiti on this smagam. So many took Amrit and joint the khalsa panth. We also want to thank the comittee to give us the chance to do the smagam in that gurdwara. We had problems because in the Gurdwara were we went more than 10 years they forbidded 5-7 families to go inside the Gurdwara. They also forbid to arrange the Amritsanchar. So we had to change the location and we asked the Comitte of Gurdwara Singh Sabha Sikh Center and they allowed us to do the smagam there. Bhul chuk maaf ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਿਹ

  6. one thing i would say is to be extremely careful how this is dealt with, i am certain the media would be all too eager to turn this into being something anti-women. we saw this with the ramanand case where it was turned into a caste issue whent caste had nothing to do with it. it must be very clear to all, especially the media that the objection is nothing to do with females. on a side note, its kinda weird how its a big deal that bibia are leading, i thought it was pretty normal...

  7. http://www.pancardnr...a-pan-card.html PAN or Permanent Account Number is a ten-digit alphanumeric code generated by the India's 'Income Tax Department', that is required by anyone and everyone who wish to conduct any kind of financial transaction in India. Even those whose financial transaction is limited to paying income tax require it! PAN is required if you wish to enter the Indian Share Market. This is true for NRIs - Non Resident Indians living abroad too, who wish to make investment in India, buy property/house in India, open bank account, demat account, rent out a property etc.

  9. LOL at this thread... to the original poster I think you should do what you think is right for yourself... the only reason I said what I did was that's what my panj pyaare told me and several mahapurakh like Sant Baba Jagjit Singh ji who travel quite often by aeroplane do the same... it's up to you.. it's no big deal but the whole causing yourself pain thing... once you detach youself from this body i.e. you realise that it is only the vessel then you can live in a bhora (cave type dwelling) for 40 days without food like Sant Baba Attar Singh ji I assure you I feel no "pain" by not eating a few hours and nor do I do this ritually rather it's part of my discipline, I would do this for any of my kakkar if they became detached from my body - this is the rehit given by Guru Gobind Singh ji maharaj I'm not saying you're wrong penji above I think you just hav to realise that in Sikhi there are many ways to answer the same question as long as you know why you're doing it, it's fine

  10. @guest- ji u r completely right also look at the first paurhee of Japji Sahib Bhukhia Bhukha na Otree - By keeping hungry on the outside (fasting ect) a humans inner hunger is not quenched leaving ur food will not make u closer to Guru sahib. It is pointless. Yes a kakaaar is part of ur body and u do feel a lil like somethings missing but do an ardas. What will be gained by not eating? Instead Jap bani the whole way and as soon as you land wear ur kirpan . I usually do ardas rite at the airport and put it on over my clothes and then at home i tie it around my head n put it under after ishnaan. It is not bringing slackness into rehit at all. It is bringing ridicluessness into rehit and it is creating obstacles between the human and God. God is not met through keeping urself hungry. God is met through love. Bottom line, this body too is Gods dwelling place and you should never purposely cause it pain. This will never please the Guru

  11. Teji Kaur Kirpan is an ang (part of the body) for a Gursikh. Without the Kirpaan one feels incomplete. It is Guru's hukam as well as the Punj Piarais' that a Gursikh should always keep his kirpan on. It is also the rehit given by the Punj that should a kakaar become far from your body, one should refrain from eating, drinking and should as quickly as possible recover their kakaar, do Japji Sahib and Ardaas, or Ardaas by 5 Singhs as in the case if both your feet come out from your Kashera... Keeping this discipline, gives a real and constant reminder that a part of you is missing. This is sharda and a show of piaar to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's rehat marayada. Whether Mahraaj would be happy for for the Gursikh to eat isnt the point, however the avastha of the Gursikh who decides that if s/he is unable to keep their rehat, they will not go around pretending all is good... that avastha is looked favourably upon my Maharaaj.... 16 hours without food or drink is not impossible. Most Muslmaan do this for a month during Ramadaan for their own reasons.... Note though, this isnt a fast, its the acknowledgemnt that you are unable to keep rehat and you are acting in accordance with the Punj's hukam. Spreading your views give excuse to bring Dhill (slackness) into ones rehat. If taking off your Kirpaan is so easy, then it shouldnt b a problem to take it off at night, during shower etc?... Surely, Maharaaj doesnt want to see us get poked by the kirpan at nite whilst we sleep does He??? Gurfateh

  12. Sadh Sangat Ji, I hope all the Sadh Sangat is well and in good health. I would like to make all the Sikhs aware that 'Slough Singh Sabha Gurdawara' on Sheehy Way has purchased premises on Stoke Poges Lane. The premises are for the purpose of building a hall for parties. As the committe are aware that there will be backlash regarding this project - they have chosen to de-link the premises by calling it 'Falcon Sports Centre'. The primary function is to have parties and all the funding is from Sadh Sangats' money. I ask all the Sadh Sangat to write to the committe strongly protesting against building premises for holding parties where alchol and meet is consumed. Also the activities after completion needs to be monitored. If truely they choose to use the premises as a Sports Complex and for educational purposes I wish them best of luck, as this is what the community needs but I feel this is not true. Also if this is the case they could have named it 'Slough Singh Sabha Sports Complex'!!!!

  15. The post sends that signal out ,like there was a topic asking 'taksaal' gurpurab dates and now this and other such topics. It seems as though people think the Akal Takht Sahib's maryada is not enough I mean fair play follow the taksaal maryada no problem but.Lets not make it look like the 'quality' of the final 'product' is better. It makes other Sikhs feel as if they are 'lower',if they ain't a taksali or a follower of taksal maryada

  16. Why do people think that Taksaal is the purest form of Sikhism ?Does that mean if someone takes Amrit from a non Jathebandi Sikh has not taken real Amrit ?If you have taken Amrit with a true heart it won't matter what Jatha you took it from you have done the same thing - given your head to the Guru

  17. Sikhs shouldn't have other lastnames/surnames than Kaur or Singh. All other names such as Gill, Dhaliwal, Chauhan, Sagoo etc. refers to your caste and is of no use for a Sikh!
