  1. My identity is not defined by or dependent on which place I was born, or which family I was born into, or what language they spoke, or what religion they followed, or what culture they were part of, or what ancestral lineage they had allegiance to, or which was their ethnic homeland. None of that was my choice. Thus my sole identity is only what I chose to be in life, i.e. Sikh. And if you think about it, even that wasn’t my choice, it was a blessing I was destined and chosen for. Thank you Guru Sahib! Mehtab Singh Jan 21, 2014

  2. the 10 bodies of sareer like soul body, aura, pranic, energy, positive mind, negative mind, neutral,...arcline....etc.. They have varying names and sometimes, some of them are grouped together such as mind body's may be grouped as one and then you have less than 10 ! High avastha abyasees and brahmgyanis can see most of these around everyone, especially the aura, pranic and energies. They can also see/feel the atma/paramatma within all of us.

  3. A few days back when i was at the gurdwara, the Giani Singh had been explaining two shabads, sitting at the gurdwara i felt i should recite these shabads daily. So i decided that i would 2 big maala's of these shabads everyday. Then down at the langar hall i changed to 2 small maalas! And on the way home i decided that i was only going to do 1 small maala of 1 shabad. :blush2: This reminded me of a saaki i had heard before which was about a gursikh who was climbing a tree to get some ripe fruit to eat. He was finding it difficult to get this fruit so in his mind he thought- "if i get to eat the fruit i will give a sant 100 loe-yan (man version of a shawl)." So as expected he ate the fruit which was at the top of the tree, on the way down his mind changed and he thought "i worked hard to climb the tree why should sant ji get 100 loe-yan, ill just give 50" Then on the way to the shop he thought "winters nearly gone, ill just buy 10 loe-yan" Eventually arriving at the shop his mind decieted him and he said "1 loe is enough!" After this he ran to the sant and into the darbar where the sant were doing katha and told them to "put the loe on straight away." The sant asked "why whats the hurry" and the man explained the whole story and said "im worried that if you dont take the loe now, in a few minutes my minds going to persuade me to take this 1 loe away aswell" :sprint: Basically the moral of this saaki, i feel, is that your mind is totally untrustworthy, ehda kuch pata ni kado change ho jana. So if you think of something good just do it straight away without thinking about it too much. Where as when you think of something bad keep thinking about it and avoid doing it, apne man nu samjao k "chad man'na kalnu karageh" :mellow2: Bhul chuk maaf ji

  6. its main reason is that when you have a company of those good human beings who always tell you to do good deeds only like charity or something else but don't do any religious job..it happened with me long time ago...It would be better if you leave such hypocrite worldly people...They will always motivate you to get materialistic things or social status....but would not bear it if they see you doing path or seva... because its useless because They can't see its output in physical terms...

  12. WASHINGTON: A US-based Sikh body has raised $3,30,000 to fund scholarships for bright but poor students to acquire higher education in Punjab. Sikh Human Development Foundation (SHDF) organized a fund raising programme which was attended by Sikh-Americans from across the US. The chief guest of the event, Surender Singh Kandhari, a Dubai-based business tycoon, announced a donation of $1,00,000. "Education is the most important treasure that any young man can possess and we are privileged to be in a position to help those in need in Punjab. It is our duty to do so. Good education helps in breaking the cycle of poverty. Giving is a virtue and it is a blessing that we are being asked to give," he said. "This is also the largest donation ever received by the diaspora community for higher education for students in Punjab. In Indian rupees, this is a little over two crores. And this certainly will have a significant impact on the future of Punjab," said Dr Rajwant Singh, outreach director of the Foundation. The foundation has so far provided 3,418 scholarships, including 537 for the current academic year. "More than 1,100 of these children have already graduated and become doctors, engineers, scientists, computer, experts and the like. Many are working in companies like IBM, Microsoft, Infosys, Indian Space Center and other good companies," said foundation's chairman Gajinder Singh Ahuja. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/nri/us-canada-news/Sikh-Americans-raise-330000-for-needy-students-in-Punjab

  14. Milk and milk products are bad but black tea is good that conrains caffeine. Also telling others to skip meals is the most horrible advice to lose weight. When meals are skipped the body is deprived of food and it actually starts building fat to make up for the skipped meals. Meals need to be healthy and eat certain foods at the right time. If you are sleep deprived this can make a person gain weight. Stress makes a person put on weight. Lack of exercise or exercising to much where the fat is lost but muscle is gained makes a person gain weight. Eating like a run walk model does not make a person any healthier or skinnier. It makes a person weak and fragile.
