  1. Do you realize how wrong this info is? Bhai Randhir Singh jee had nothing to do with Singh Sabha movement. The Singh Sabha movement was started and spear headed by Gursikh Pyare, Prof Gurmukh Singh Jee and Giani Ditt Singh Jee(may their sweet memories live on). Due to this movement Sikhi was revived which otherwise was in the decline. The Sikh population rebounded and doubled in a matter of a few years of Singh Sabha Parchar. And since when did SGPC get created by Bhai Randhir Singh Jee? He was in jail before and after the Gurdwara reform movement happened. In other words, he completely missed out on the Gurdwara reform movement because he was serving jail for 17 years. The glorious Gurdwara reform movement was where tens of thousands of Gursikhs freed our Gurdwaras from Hindu Sanatanist Pujaris. All of the jails of Punjab were filled with Sikhs. These Sanatanists were fully backed by the British who killed hundreds of Sikhs by literally beating them to death in the various Morchas. All of India was awe inspired by seeing these Shaheedis where Singhs were beaten but they did not once react by screaming in pain. A British man who witnessed this says the Singhs reminded him of Christ. I was going to reply to all the koor parchar on that thread yesterday but the mods had closed it before I could post.

  2. When I grew up I was taught that I have to wash hands before touching a Gutka Sahib. But as I grew up I began doing panj ishnana before touching a Gutka Sahib out of respect for Gurbani Pothi. It is not compulsory to do panj ishnana but just felt like the right thing to do for me. But hand washing is a must. As for any seva of Guru Granth Sahib jee. One must have full body Ishnan and wear suche clothing. This is puratan rehit.

  3. From my experience, which may not be truely representative: when i was taking santhiya, the teacher would say this word is pronounced thus though some people say it like this. But that is incorrect as the meaning changes or we have to add a matra or because this sant said to.say ot this way.I was raised in a taksali environment, but when i grew up (lol), i was exposed to akjs. Their way of thinking and doing santhiya and things. And i realized most of the differences my santhiya teacher attributed to 'some ppl do this' were referring to the way akjs do things. That was shocking. I had thought the other ppl were ppl who had not taken santhiya or did not know. I didnt know it was for an alternative way to do things. But having said that, i really liked ppl i met in both jathas. You shoukd really try to meet some ppl in jathas and taksal yourself. Its really cool how much they are into sikhi than us average sikhs. Of course tne youngsters take it too far, but kids like making cliques. So really try to meet some jatha/taksal singhs

  5. Can we please not turn this into another debate? Blasphemy of mahapurakhs like Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh should call for an immediate ban.

  7. I know you cannot read Punjabi but if you have an English transliteration Gutka then read the 13th ashtpadi if Sri Sukhmani Sahib of how big the paap is of Sant ki Ninda and what are the consequences of such a Maha Paap. it is a rakshas(demonic) trait you are displaying by repeatedly doing this paap. But maybe it is not your fault. Gurbani says PAAP BURA, PAAPI KO PIARA. A paapi when he repeatedly does the same paap over and over again begins to like it and repeats it even more. Khair, you should repent instead of repeatedly doing paap of Sant Ki Ninda.

  8. You only need to take a shower if going to tabya of sri guru granth sahib ji. For gutka sahibs, wash hands 5x after washroom. For photos and other holy material, washing hands once is fine.

  9. The SGPC, after they demolished all the beautiful historic bungaay (which we commemorate in our ardaas every day, in a sick twist of irony, praying that they stand for all time - "Chounkiya Chandae Bungaay jugo jug atal") scattered around the sarovar in order to widen the parikrama. Visitors to the city of Amritsar noted that these bungaay were among the very best representations of Sikh art and architecture, their edifices covered with murals and intricate engravings. There is no meaning behind these tiles other than the willful destruction of our history for the sake of 'beautification' and greed (maintaining the artwork of the bungaay would have cost the SGPC a lot of cash). The Gurdwara management of Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib did the same thing, destroying the historic Bunga of the Ramgharia Misl, among other things, so that they could carpet bomb the place with marble. This trend is repeating itself in countless historic Guru Ghars. Several of the mango trees at Gurdwara Amb Sahib, dating back to Guru Gobind Singh's time, were also chopped down to accommodate new marble tiling, and others strangled to death by all the stone. These revolting men have no respect for Sikh Itihaas.

  10. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh It is a matter of individual Shardha-bhavana. Normally you should do what your elders or role models did. What was good for them should be good for you. However due to some extra ordinary circumstance you cannot perform Seva as per standard then do Ardas asking forgiveness & improvise. Another option is to request near or dear to do Seva in your place. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh
