  1. Is this original poster serious?!
  2. There is no such link or factual reference to this incident whatsoever! So now what? Interpol is in on a conspiracy against Sikhs as well?!?! Please keep fairy tales off this forum
  3. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5h0Bw-5...UQA039vJ3Hp-niQ
  4. There is no such news of this anywhere, please reference with a link.
  5. Would they be playing the bani in the restaurant were people are drinking or would they be playing it privately within a back office for themselves? :gg:
  6. Contact your doctor immediately, herbs and vitamins are strictly preventative measures, you need the consultation of an OB/GYN as soon as possible.
  7. It's unfortunate that we as Sikhs have lost the very key message of our Gurus. Gurdwaras and Takhats were appointed SEPERATE from each other, this was incredible forsight from our amazing Gurus as to keep the spiritual Guru Ghar AUTONOMOUS from political stances, instead today have meshed both and bicker about politics within our own Guru's home, and the message has been lost.
  8. You're joking right? Secondly your whole point of this being 'policital' is a pessimistic view that sweeps every Sikh who was part of this naming as a politician. It's typical of our kaum to constantly bring each other down, but the fact that you're protesting the naming of an Emergency ward named after our Guru as a political/copycat move is downright laughable. You're pigeonholing it with other businesses that have 'Khalsa' in them etc. I fail to see how someone coming into the ward with a bullet wound is thinking about WHERE they should take their 'business', and if the naming of the ER has anything to do with that. Then you say it shouldn't be on the name of a public building, it was Sikhs that raised the money, had they not, that PUBLIC building would currently lack a brand new ER ward, it's in the same vein that churches put up the money to build an extension/wing and then get the naming right, I find nothing wrong with it. Your argument is all over the place. Also if you think healing the sick has nothing to do with Sikhi (as you put it) or our Gurus, you might want to get back to your nearest Sikh library and crack open a book or two.
  9. Dosanjh holds some valid points, if you think that Sikhs are immune to being violent fanatics you've got your head buried in the sand. The guy was beaten mercilessly by Sikhs for standing up against the Hindu hate speech that some of the misguided were spewing. There WERE fanatics in Vancouver especially around that time (and you're naive to think every single one of them was "G.O.I" agents and not just simply moronic zealots)
  10. To be honest I can't think of a more appropriate place you could have the name of the lord. And let's be honest, there are tons of hospitals named after Christian and Jewish prophets, saints etc. Would you think twice if you had an emergency entering one of these hospitals? No! So any non Sikh who would complain is being a complete hypocrite.
  11. Well gee I guess that explains everything.....
  12. the stuff in bolds above means they are similar in every aspect of life. Earning an honest living and all the stuff you wrote bhaji, everything is ditto. That was my primary assumption before i reached to the following conclusion.. >>> Kesdhari is definitely more of a sikh compared to the other. Agreed, I missed that part, but the point is, beyond defining WHO is Sikh (because if anything you've deduced they both are in fact....SIKH), should we start up a ratings system of who is MORE SIKH than the other, perhaps the Keshdari Sikh is a 4-Star Sikh, and the Non-Keshdari is 3-Star? Honestly, what does it matter? And who are we to judge WHO is Sikher? This tired argument has divided the kaum worse than caste imo.
  13. Pretty simpleton view there. What if the non Keshdhari lives an honest living, does his paat, thinks only well of others (Sarbat Dha Bhulla). Whereas the Kesdhari earns his living through shady business dealings, is extremely jealous of others, and has an over-inflated ego just because he's wearing a turban. Now who is more "Sikh"? The Irish have a saying, "you can strap a bible around a donkey, but that doesn't make it a priest" It's pretty funny how Sikhs just a assume "Paghri means good Sikh, Mona means bad Sikh", it goes a little bit deeper than that my friend. Take note that wear a pagh.
  14. The article you posted also states She has a Sikh background and takes her kids to Gurdwara, as well as church, she married a methodist, but is exposing her kids to both faiths, that surely beats out alot of "so-called" Sikhs that don't bother teaching their kids anything, completely appropriate that Sikhchic does an article on her, she is from Sikh background and has accomplished something very few people in our community have, and yet they think they can sit atop their ivory tower because they're more "sikh" than she is, completely idiotic!
  15. There's an interesting pattern I always notice. The turbaned Sikhs that are the most critical, excluding, (and downright hateful) of monai Sikhs tend to also be, deep down, the most insecure about their appearance/choice. Those that are completely comfortable in their bana are usually more inclusive. I also notice that it's the younger turbaned Sikhs in their teens that show the most hate/resentfulness, but again, insecurity and resentment issues could be said for ANYONE at that age so I wouldn't pay much mind to their opinions as they need to grow up and mature mentally anyway.
  16. At present, I don't think Sikhs are prepared for their own nation, in Canada, US, and UK, they can't even run their Gurdwaras without violence erupting between the moderates and the fundamentalists. I'm all for a unified Punjab where Sikhs have a distinct society status to protect themselves and give them a certain level of autonomy from whatever happens in New Delhi, and also give our people the benefit of being within the economic framework of India, which has improved vastly with P.M. Manmohan Singh at the helm and is poised to have even more economic leverage on a global scale in the coming years.
  17. Wow. I've read some really dumb posts in the past but I think this one shoots straight to Number One.
  18. I would wait to draw any conclusions, although there are many potential suspects, I wouldn't be surprised at any single one of the three potential culprits, those being the Indian Gov't, Islamic Militants, OR Fringe Right-Wing Sikh lunatics.
  19. Whats even more corrupt is people thinking that this is actually their business. Where does it say that people cannot be wed via the Anand Karaj ceremony if one person isn't Sikh? And going by people that post on this board, the argument over who is and is not in fact Sikh varies between liberal and complete right wing fanatical standards. So if a person is born Sikh they then have a birth right to an anand karaj ceremony? Or is it only for Puran Sikhs? Are monas allowed an Anand Karaj ceremony? Do tell.
  20. Agreed, you'll be thankful of that decision when you wipe out at 80-100 km/h and do a header against the pavement.
  21. Of course if I were approached by enemy combatants of the Sikh religion who said (even though I trim my beard) to shave it, I would refuse, as would any Sikh bow down to the will of such people. What you fail to understand is that wasn't JUST about the hair, hair is part of the body, eventually it too will fall and turn to dust, it was the PRINCIPLE of LIBERTY and PERSONAL FREEDOM of why Sikhs refused orders of the mughals, of course the keeping of hair is ordaned by Guru Ji and we SHOULD, that being said, if someone does or doesn't to me does not define the strength they hold for guru within themselves, there's ALOT more to Sikhi than simply how long a persons beard is, to trivialize it to such simpleton thinking borders on insulting it.
  22. How is it right for someone like you (who is OBVIOUSLY more in tune with Sikh philosophy ) to pass judgement with insults and broad statements such as "bhangra is pathetic"
  23. I tend too notice that most 'proper' Singhs who get all angry and obsessed with other Sikhs for either A - Wearing a patka B - Putting a cap over it every now and then C - Trimming their bear and mustache D - Trimming hair etc etc, get some (rather shallow) superiority complex over it where they go and start blasting others, and start hurling insults and hate towards them. However it usually due to their OWN deep down insecurities, so they have to call out others for not being more "like them" which would in turn help their confidence. It's pretty lame, quit obsessing over small things and dividing the kaum even further. You wear a dastar, don't cut your hair, and don't trim, congratulations, that really is good, but leave it at that. Just because you do, doesn't give you ANY sort of right or liberty to call out others. HeatSikhingMissile (Beard trimming Singh)
