They make movies, sing dharmik songs but they dont use the name singh why ? They just dont have any credibility, they sing like they are proud to be from sikh families / background they make movies and animation but when you see their name but no Singh it makes no sense ?

Seems you were at the same Gurdwara as me, i had to tell people in the sangat to be quite, whilst Rehras sahib ji paath was being recited and the most annoying thing was members of the committee said nothing and they were sat their too ! But i am probably an extremist now ! It gave me no pleasure in telling others to be quite actually the opposite, i just cant see the point of coming into the darbar sahib if you want to talk and these were men chatting all to often we blame the ladies having said that the other week at another Gurdwara two old ladies were rattling away and i find it worse the further back you sit.

please forgive me but some of my veers here have made it sound very easy, Gurmantar is most important after receiving amrit from Guru ji and the panj pyare, but we should listen to Guru ji too and attend sadh sangat as regular as possible. Do our full nitnem daily without excuses and live accordingly to Guru ji's hukam, sewa, daswand etc etc, then by Guru ji grace can we be one with vaheguru ji ( ik onkar sat gur parsad), this path is very hard and difficult so be under no illusions but never give up because his kirpa can happen at any time. Also there will be tests of our faith at times to see if we give up, even the Guru sahibs had to pass tests to become the next Guru, NOT that they wanted to become the guru but rather that they had unconditional love for the Guru ji and became one with / worthy and were bestowed with the Gurgaddi. Some Gursikhs had tests too like Bhai Joga ji etc. But the above posters are quite right .

basically it is short for sulaman a name used by muslims, so therefore refer to someone as a <banned word filter activated> it means a muslim , p, etc. thats what i have always understood actually if it does then rather than being an insult , it is actually a praise and means man of peace and is the same as the name solomon used in other faiths.

Reading your link it says some rajputs converted to islam and others made an alliance with the moghuls ( which probably means they gave them their daughters / wives, lands and tax) e.g jodha and akbar and today they call it a love story , it seems they showed very little resistance and it was very poor at that . prior to moghuls was the delhi sultanate turks and then the afghans 1206 - 1526, 320 years they ruled! Then came the mughals in the early 16th century, it seems the so called warriors the hindu of today talks about was a joke even before these invaders other invaders came and always conquered and ruled, i agree with TurbanGuys seems they were not warriors at all.

not true my beard is very thick heavy and below my chest and it never irritates, i wash it everyday and i love it ! you guys who dont have a beard or kesh dont know what you are missing, i used to be shaved etc a few years ago now , so i know both sides and kesh & beard is the best.

The problem is we think it is easy to connect with / find Waheguru ji , and when we get comfortable and start thinking our life is good, nitnem etc is going well then bang ! it starts to go wrong well thats his way of saying you think its easy hey , well its not !! its a test waheguru ji is not easy to connect with after all he is the supreme being Akaal purkh ji. thats what i think, ardas nitnem etc is the answer keep going never give up beg for his mercy etc.
