  1. Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh VOTED without a doubt, so should the narrow minded people who call themselves sikh on this forum. Leave the judgement who is a better sikh or not to the man above and do the right thing in helping a fellow sikh raise profie of sikhe where it's so much needed in the western world.
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh! Funeral was today , here's a link which gives some pictures and further information on the charitable work Giani Jee carried out as well as kirtan seva. I was at the funeral today and all I could hear from speech after speech was that this person had every gun (quality) that SSGS preaches to us. http://www.littleblindpeople.com/
  3. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh I Knew Bhai Sahib very well personally and he has been a great Sikh examplar to us all. This is tragic news and tragic for the Sikh kids who were learning vaaja tabla from him. Very sad day indeed but let's also rejoice the happiness he gave us while alive and the kirtan darbars he participated in the seva with Giani Hamdard Ji. I can never forget his geet he sang around 1984 " maai nee maai sanooo Amritsar lagda pyara". He was always in chardi kala even when he had the first heart attack he continued his seva,, No doubt parse shabad kala of Gurbani kept in chardi kala at all times. Dhan Guru Dhan Guru Pyaree. So many wonderful Gursikhs passing away , Bhai Jasbir Singh Jee kaanee wale not so recently too.
  4. Great, that's AKJ UK and AKJ.ORG sorted out and migrating how about AKJI when will this take on to the migration or will it???
  5. Just one thought Great discussion loads of information for the joe average sikhs like me to comprehend. Amrit/ and amrit discussion over the past couple of decades has become daaaal as mentioned by Professor Darshan Singh Jee, it's because one says one's version is better than the other. Guru Ji gave us something simple and we've made it real complex could we ever simplyfie it again and unite under one banner..Akal Takht Sahib. These discussions are mostly taken the wrong way and people sometimes ignore them, there is something to learn from them when you compare to Gurbani and teachings. Let me examplify what I am trying to say Gurabni clearly mentions "every living human being possess the sarvor of nectar of amrit" but not everyone takes the pauol. We take the "pauol of the khanda" and not amrit. After taking pauol then one has to churn and do naam/Gurbani kamai to chrun the amrit which resides on the inside. We DO NOT TAKE AMRIT, only khande de pauol , understand this then we may get somewhere. If I'm wrong please correct me.
  6. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh I write on this thread occasionally to find some youth very confused in sikhe. However I must stress there is no doubt these guys were rock solid and an inspiration for other youth. May Guru Jee bless their soul, atmaa noo apnaee chanran vech jaag dehaan. The almighty works in mysterious ways some he takes young some old, some who we need most are taken away so early. Some that are doing nothing for the panth and causing rift seem to linger on for years.
  7. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Khalsa Girl , We had the same issue in our town and spoke to the library staff who allowed us wrap the books containing sacred writings and to be put on a higher separate shelf. The other thing that can be done is to get your local Gurdwara invovlved and get those books back to the Gurdwara library.
  8. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ke Fateh! I'm afraid to say that we lack in this ina big big way. The muslims do excellent parchar their imaams who come over from India to the UK get free English training in order for them to preach Islam in English in mosques. I can't even count on one hand the number of English speaking Sikh Kathakaars.Problem with us is that we disagree more than agree. If our Guru Sahiban did parchar of SGGS in the languages prevalent at the time in India then why us Sikhs shy away from producing English kathavacheks, parcharks. I've spoken to various people and our elders in the AKJ or taksaal circle normally base the argument that you will never be able todo parchar in English ,due to Gurbani being in Gurmuki, it's important for kids and upcoming generations to understand panjabi/Gurmuki. I do agree with this arugment and respect it, but surely if the language the kid speaks(English ) speaks in school 40 hours a week and he/she comes home speaks at home with his parents too, isn't it just as important to do parchar in English!! We are way way beehind muslims, they even have a national radio channel where there youngsters tune in and raise questions and thus higher awareness. What we have a couple of Satallite channels to which the youth don't even listen. We do our nagar kirtans holding up traffic , but we never tell the gora what it's all about. The muslims are prevalent in the meida and looke very similar to us, I 've been living in the UK for the past 40 years and still you get gora saying paki/muslim to us sikhs. We have no media channel or hardly ever presented in the media. The irony is we have mahan kirtan smagams all over the UK tons and tons of them with various groups, AKJ, TAKSAL etc. but issue reamins. It remains because these groups do not work together collectively and the divide between the youth is ony widening not getting better, thanks to the elders brainwashing each of their own that is one thing that we 're excellent at. You only have to look at this thread there doesn't seem to be anyone out there who wants to change this or go forward, the youth are singing the same tunes of arguments of raagmala, meat , dastar etc. etc. and it's a real waste of time and nothing is being done to go forward in presenting sikhe to the wider western world.
  9. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ke Fateh Great seva Could someone also do the seva of providing a brief historic account of this Gurdwara Sahib.
  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Pakandi baba and a few more, please help m understand these too: 'Gur Nanak Dev Govind roop.' (Basant Mohalla 5, p-1192, Guru Granth Sahib) 'Gur meh aap rakhaya kartare.' (Maru Mohalla 1(15), p-1024) 'Gur Nanak Nanak har soai.' (Gaund Mohalla 5, p-865)
  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh I disagree isn''t the Guru's the same as God, explain this one in SGGS: "Aaap naryann kala daar jag me parvaryooo"
  12. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Saui Sakhi's are there but not as authentic as SGGS Mahraj where it clearly mentions::: "Satguru mera sadaa sada naah awaee nah jaai awoo abnaasi purkh haae sabh mahe rahea smahee" apologies for spelling mistakes, it's clear Guru sahib will not take human form ever again, Khalsa is perfect and as long as SGGS is with the Khalsa and Khalsa has the ultimate faith they can achieve anything as Khalsa did rule after Guru Sahiban period. That's a proven fact.If they were to come back then what they did in the first place by creating khalsa was wrong how can that be? Problem we have in our community is we go more on hearsay and not focus on Gurabni, we could be waiting in vain for generations but never realize the powers that be want that exactly for us to wait and wait and as we wait we do nothing else then slowly as we wait out faith is gone and so is the ultimate spirit to do anything. Khalsa Raj is inevtiable and will happen as Maharaaj has mentioned, when and how , where no one knows. Instead of waiting for Guru Gobind Singh jee, at the present moment the challange focus for sikhs worldwide is to raise the profile of Sikhe, when you meet a gora in workplace on anywhere introduce sikhe to them that is the goal of every Pag wearing sikh at present, as most goras/non goras perceive us as muslims.
  13. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Beautiful , thanks for posting, problem is yes we are forgetting, bring up hte topic of 84 with any punjabi relatives and they go all quite or some speak the opposite.Thing is I 'm not sure is there a web base or internet link where all of our shaeeds have been listed from 84 and their story. I know we all have taksal shaeeds, babbar shaeeds on their own websites but is there a website that has everyone's story, if not we need to have it for the upcoming generations.
  14. That's what w're excellent at getting the kirpan out
  15. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh 84 survivor you meniton "where is the proof on Sant Jarnail Singh Ji shaeed", I rather not go into <admin-profanity filter activated> for tat but could easily say the same where is the proof that he's alive and kicking. We need to move on and put these type of argument at rest and get out of the old panjabi mentality. If sant Ji was alive do you think he would be sitting idle with what doing on in Panjab at present?
  16. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Sants in sikh history, during Guru Sahib Jee's period no one had this title, the only title used by sikhs was "Bhai"..examples such as highly respected Gursikhs who were living with Guru Sahiban at the time , Bhai Manj,Bhai Gurdas, Bhai Nand Lal, this was the trend, if the tilte sant was so important Guru Sahiban would've passed it on. Secondly there have been Gursikhs who had excellent chardi kala jeevans where sikh sangata have named them sant out of high respect. However as we all know in the present day sikhism this word has been used to gain wealth and maya only by quite a few so called sants. I don't want to mention names as we don't want to go around the same cicles but it's quite evident who the dodgy sants are in present day. So how does one recognise a true sant, I spoke to highly respected Gursikh once who told me , a sikh at sant level would not go around protraying or advertising he/she's a sant. A true sant would be the most humble sevadaar who could go witout food for days, naam only being his food as per quotes in Gurbani, a person who could with stand any test any weather condition, you could put him in prison cell for months yet you woulld not see any difference in his complexion. You could put in icy cold condition without clothing and he would not waver. A true sant would have naam vibrating through roam roam and would never advertise and beg for money or ask people to touch and bow down to him or accept birthday gifts. There are such individuals but as per Gurbani they are "verlee " . This is the reason people who slandar sants should not...people who think sants are everything should compare thoughts from SGGS and before declaring in their mind they have met a true sant. Problem with us panjabi people is that we are the best at crowd following than any other kaum in India. Looking at India's history people past and present, the rss /arya smaaj, types who were not successful in their own states were assigned to panjab by the hindu goverment where they knew panjabi's would follow them like sheep which bring havoc to the state and sure thing this policy is working over and over again even today. The title sant is used by such people today. Finally we always forget the other parameter with sant which is siphai...do we have a record or a number of the sants in today's age who helped around in 1984 people like sant Jarnail Singh, if there is a number I bet it doesn't exceed the number of fingers on one hand let alone 2.If so please correct me.
  17. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Bass Singh calls every Rehansbhai he goes to "brilliant"!!! I didn't know that as I don't post here often , indeed respect to Bass Singh and U.
  18. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Golee Marro, Looks like my comments have definitely golee lagge geayee to you.I never said anything is wrong in praising kirtan gurbani. My points are of a higher nature , it's not about raag/music/or tawala, it's Gurbani, if one has full focus on Gurbani in any environment it being sung or read than one can feel the same brillance throughout depending one ones' naam kamai/past karms etc. However focus is indeed easier in some environments such as a rehansabhi due to the sangat being involved.Focus is key no matter what. My intention to write here is not to cause controversy but just to raise awareness which one can raise higher if one wanted but even that depends on Guru Jee's blessing for one, if one has such an ardaas for higher awareness of Gurbani.
  19. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh Just a small query What is a good rehansbahi? What is the difference if you went to your normal Gurdwara daily for normal kirtan programme would that be not on par with a rehansbhai? Gurbani is all the same everywhere , somehow our perceptions are not right?!!
  20. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh I have question from the leanred individuals on the forum. Why is it that some sants don't have "singh" as the last name? Why is it that they also don't wear sri sahib as a kakkar? And lastly when you say fateh the don't return the fateh back to you. However when they do ardaas and so forth these sants mention fateh to SGGS as normal. This is not about dissing sants and not meant to cause debate , simple answers would be much appreciated.
  21. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ke Fateh A great question and I think anyone involved in a camp should reply here with their thoughts for organisers to further improve the camps they already run. Camps should happen as mentioned above with a couple of goals with vision in mind so the campers walk away thinking: 1. Positive 2. They centre Gurbani techings daily in their life or begin to this .. applying learned skills. This doesn't mean doing nitnem and that's it this mean to everything in life in every second that's passing by the indvidual. 3. It was great it gives them a new way of thinking that makes them feel proud their Guru sahiban and purataan sikhs. 4.Camp organisers should focuse on purratan sikhs on how they took on challanges in life daily in history e.g 1984, 1978, or any period prior to that. We have countless black days in sikh history, countless shaeeds in the panth, they should be talked about at lenght by the oragnisers. 5. How to portray themselves in the wider world as sikhs which projects a positive image for sikhe in genreal. Overall the campers and their organisers should think in similar thinking of large multinational companies who are successfull, for e.g a key line for IBM has always been " THINK GLOBAL ACT LOCAL"
  22. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ke Fateh Thanks to Singhs/Kaurs of Immortal Prodcutins for doing a wonderful exceptional sewa. May Guru Sahib give you even more inspiration and strength on this much needed sewa for upcoming Sikh generations in the western world.
