1. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, When I look back I'm astounded how HE's helped me, But at that time this Helping Hand I could not see, At that time I felt it was I, And today I realize the 'i' was just a lie. HE guided me and helped me to get back on my feet, Made me something even though the minimum qualification I did not meet, Many times I pray 'give me another chance to grow up again', Because this time I'll thank you in happiness and sorrow and in health and in pain. Guru Rakha ps. Mehtab Ji 'tussi great ho'
2. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, Before you trivialize this call by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, please do try to read the battle of Chamkaur. Gyani Pinder Pal Singh has done kathaa on Saaka Chamkaur and Sirhind and the CD is available on the Net. In case you cannot source the CD please PM me and I can have it sent to to you (as a Sewa ... offer open to the Sikhsangat Cyber Sangat). I'm sure once you listen to the CD 'you will find your arithmetical analogy grossly wrong'. Guur Rakha
3. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, March is not that bad, But come April and winter lovers like me start getting sad! But you are coming from to India so some precautions you must take, Keep an eye on your water and food intake. Drink lots of bottled water and say no to salads, curds or you can say any food that's uncooked, Or with a 'Delhi belly' or something worse you could be 'booked'. Do not succumb to your relatives when 'khaan de liye karran force'! Would not be a bad idea that when you go back you take an antibiotics course. Do not forget to visit Darbaar Sahib and Fatehgarh Sahib and Chamkaur Sahib during your stay, Pay your respects to Sahibzadas who sacrificed their lives at an age when kids gleefully play. If you happen to be in Chandigarh you can PM me, I can take you around Gurudwaras in and around Chandigarh..... an 'asees' is my fee. Guru Rakha
4. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, First and foremost every Indian politician sees power as a means to make money. Then comes Indian Political Parties and their objective is to come to power to rule (Democratic 'monarchy'): Congress and Akali Dal's objectives are the same and that's to rule, And BJP's is to convert Sikhs to Hindus and use its rule as a tool! Congress has no qualms at hitting out and harming Sikhi to achieve its aim, To achieve its aim Akali Dal has played with Sikhi and 'for us Sikhi comes first' they funnily claim, So as to achieve its aim BJP will use any means and that's the reason to ally with Akali Dal it was game. So Sikhs must realize 'trust no politician or any political outfit', We can only trust ourselves and for our Panth do our bit. Guru Rakha
5. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, In my opinion Jinda ji has tacit support from the Congress. No wonders Hooda is all charged up to give in to his demand. I think many in Congress would like to see the authority of SGPC undermined. For two reasons.... one it affects Sikhs and secondly it hits out at Badal. Congress and Akalis are two sides of the same coin. I say this because both can hurt Sikhi for political gains. Badal and Amrinder same thing, Dono hann nakli Singh. Guru Rakha
6. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, Lack of unity in the Panth. Imagine Chandhok who was the President of Delhi Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee gave a Siropa to Tytler! Not that Badal and gang are any less. All misuse religion to further their political goals. The creation of a SGPC is Haryana will just compound the fractionism. And if you ask me by their actions they excommunicated themselves. Guru Rakha
7. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, Lodhi does not have any religious significance for Sikhs. Its a seasonal festival and Lodhi time is supposed to be the coldest part of winter and post Lodhi the winter is supposed to ebb. In Punjab the first Lodhi of newlyweds and 'boy child' are celebrated with gusto. Now in Punjab social organizations are demanding that the first Lodhi of the girl child also be celebrated like that of the boy child. Guru Rakha
8.

Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, Absolutely by the Grace of Waheguruji. I was pretty stupid at one time to think that just because I've chakod Amrit I'm a better Sikh or 'that I now have the Agency of Sikhism'. I may have obeyed Guruji and chakod Amrit but on whether I'm a better Sikh only He's the Judge. Guru Rakha
9. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, I know he needs to be tried and punished for what he did in Punjab in the name of bringing peace in Punjab. But in India he's not going to be tried for these crimes. So in this case its like 'bhaagte chor ki langoti' (anagram for something is better than nothing). Guru Rakha
10. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, Some of us by just keeping kess and tying a turban think that this is the 'ultimate in Sikhi'. Partaking Amrit is not the pinnacle but just the start towards the pinnacle. Partaking Amrit is 'not the end' but a means to achieve the end and that is kindle selfless love for Akal Purakh Waheguru Ji. And this selfless love is only possible if one becomes a 'marr jeewda' and accepts Guruji's Bhaana devoutly. Amrit is not a license to feel 'a cut above the rest'. One day I was sitting in Pangat in Sector 34 Gurudwara. A elderly gentleman was sitting opposite me and somehow the Sewadars wartaoing Langar missed him. I called out to a Sewadar and he put , if I recall correctly, a helping of sabzi in his plate. The elderly gentleman angrily said that he did not want this much sabzi. Seeing the predicament of the Sewadar I put my plate in front of the elderly gentleman and requested him to put what he did not want in my plate. He then addressed me and said that my plate had touched his plate (the rims) and that as he was a Amritdhari he could not eat what was in the plate. I did mumble that I was an Amritdhari too but then left it at that and requested him to hand me his plate and I got up washed my hands and got him a new plate and requested the Sewadar to put sabzi as per this gentleman's requirement. And I ate what was in the plate he had rejected. I feel post Amrit one should become softer and humbler. Guru Rakha
11. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, A Haryana Cop , retired DGP (Director General of Police) , who was found guilty of molesting a minor has been stripped of his Police Medals. KPS Gill is basically a convict as he's been convicted of molesting a Lady IAS Officer, though he was let off by the Court on account of the fact that he did not have a criminal background and because if the responsible position he held. Now there are demands in India that all Cops with convictions should be stripped off their awards. The argument is that the Cop should not only deserve the award but also must be worthy of the award. I hope he is stripped of his awards. 12. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, There is a CD of Gyani Pinderpal Ji's Katha on Saaka Chamkaur and Sirhind. And there is a book on the Poetry of Allah Yaar Khan Jogi on Saaka Chamkaur and Srihind. Anyone interested in either can PM me and let me know postal address where I can have these sent (please accept this as a Sewa from my side). I keep saying this to all Sikhs: When your kids reach an impressionable age please do take them to Chamkaur Sahib and Fatehgarh Sahib and let them learn about the sacrifice of our beloved Sahibzadas. Guru Rakha ps. in case privacy is an issue I can send these to Sikhsangat and you can have your CD and/or book collected from them
13. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, Aise Shaheed kadhi nahi mardhe, ( Such martyr's do not die) Jedhe Dharam di khaatar hann laddhe ( Those who fight for rightiousness) Jadh takh rahegi Duniya Sahebzaadean di shaheedi duniya karregi yaad, ( Till this World remains the world will remember Sahibzada's martydom) Bahadur aur sherill Pitta do bahadur aur sherdill aulad ( brave and lionhearted Father's brave and lionhearted children) Guru Rakha
14. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, I understand that Bachchan will be in London in December. Why don't London Sikhs petition the UK Government that Bachchan should not be allowed into Britain on the grounds that he incited mobs to avenge I Gandhi being shot by Sikhs? Sikhs should not get taken in by this 'his Mom is a Sikh talk'. Guru Rakha
15. Fateh parwaan karro iiyo, Jarnail Singh's , who threw his shoe at PC Chidambram to show his disgust at Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumat getting tickets for the General Elections, book I Accuse is now in bookshops. Please do read this book. In fact I feel every Sikh Home should have this book and the book written by Mr. Phoolka 'When a big tree shook Delhi'. Guru Rakha
16. Fateh Parwaan karro jiyo, I recall when he was to embark on his 'Unforgettable World Tour' I had posted messages on various Sikh Sites requesting Sikhs to protest outside the Show venue and the Hotels he was staying in. If I'm not mistaken I had posted a message on this Forum too. He still travels a lot and I would request Sikhs in Europe and USA to write to their respective Governments and question him being given a entry Visa. He also is a Brand Ambassador and we must write to the Brands he's a Brand Ambassador and inform them about his past. He has a Blog and I feel we all must log on and let him know how we feel. http://bigb.bigadda.com/ Guru Rakha
17. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, All happens as per HIS Hukam. My son who is six foot four inches and is a handsome lad suffers from a gait problem. We've (my family) accepted it as HIS Hukam. Yes,there are times we feel bad and sad, but then I usually go into the Gurudwara and do Ardas and take Hukam and believe me after this I do not feel bad or sad. We know if HE wants HE can make him okay in a jiffy. We do what is humanly possible and look for treatments and do Ardas. The other day I overheard a Lady tell other's in her four ball at the Golf Club that my son is a handicap. I felt like gong up and telling her despite this my son who is a Amritdhari, obedient, appeared for his final year MBA and a lad who has taken his problems very positively is better than so many kids who despite being Sikhs do beadbi of their kess, are disobedient, uneducated ( dropouts from schools or colleges), drunks and even smoke. And believe me there are loads of such kids in this Golf Club. I recall we went to meet his College Principal and he told us that usually parents come to him with bowed heads or ready to pick up fights and argue. He said we had come to him 'with our collars up', And in Bani Guruji says that the only way to cross the ocean of life is to accept HIS Bhaana (Will). This is the hallmark of a Sikh. Guru Rakha
18. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, I happened to attend a Kirtan to celebratebirhtday if a child and marriage anniversary of the child’s grandparent’s. TheKirtan was held in a Park opposite this family’s house. I noticed some nonSikhs did not cover their heads. And after Parhsad was distributed it seemed asif many just forgot that they were in the presence of Guruji. Some got up andwere meeting and greeting each other with their back’s to Guruji. And soon just5 people left in the Pandal. I know the Granthi Ji who had come from Sector 34Gurudwara and I asked him if the vehicle that the Gurudwara uses fortransporting Guruji had come and he relied in the negative. Sukhaasan was doneand I got my car to transport Guruji to the Gurudwara. The family who had gotthis Kirtan done got busy playing hosts as there was a lunch arranged in theadjoining pandal and they just forgot about Guruji. This incident strengthenedmy feeling that Guruji should not be taken to parks or hotels. Say of these people were attending a function where a Political Leader was the Chief Guest. These people would not have dared to leave before the Chief Guest. Guru Rakha

20. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, There is this Big Boss Show clone in India. Its in its third year. Raju Srivastava , a stand up comedian, is one of theparticipants in this year’s Big Boss. Amitabh Bachchan is the Host andyesterday when he was speaking to the house guests he called out RajuSrivastava’s name and camera focused on Raju and Raju is seen dressed up like ajoker and he says ‘ Waheguruji ka Khalsa Waheguruji ki Fateh’ and there is ahalf smile on Bachchan’s face. Without a doubt Raju was trying to lampoon ourgreeting. Now comes the Divine Retribution. Today while romping aroundthe pool in the bIg Boss’s house his swimming costume falls down. Practicallyall the Channel’s are carrying this story with the pics, of course theoffensive part is blurred. Ive written to Amitabh on his blog and I would request those who feel offended by this to write to him. http://bigb.bigadda.com/ Guru Rakha
21. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, Be honorable. Guru Rakha
22. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, I recall a Urdu couplet.... it says..... Oh Baaz when you face strong winds do not worry, these wind actually make you fly higher. And it would be prudent that when you face problems in life to sit down and ponder on your past actions and if one does this thruthfully I'm sure one will say 'I deserve the problem or problems'. God scolds us via our problems and after we make amends HE shows HIS love for us. Do not get rattled by Dukh, its apart of life. Sukh after Dukh makes Sukh meaningful and one tends not to be thankless. Guru Rakha
23. Fateh parwaan karro jiyo, You could spend some time learning about the meanings. And I'm sure in a couple of weeks you would know the meanings. There are Gutkas in Gurmukhi/Romanized/ English which make learning very easy. There are couple fo sites that have Bani in this form too. Guru Rakha
24. Fateh parwan karro jiyo, In my humble opinion Brahmgyanis have unfathomable love for Guru Jis and Waheguru. Its because of this unfathomable love that they kept repeating Bani..... Bani to them was like breathing. My humble submission is start doing Japji Sahib and try to learn the meaning. Then as you fall in love you will yourslef will get the urge to do more and more Paaths of Baani. After all Guruji has taught us ' Jinn prem kiyo tinn he Prabh paiya'. Our Bani is not ucharod like a Mantra. Guru Rakha
