  1. the turban is not big, the space is small. the underlying question to help crack the code is "what is the point of a small space?"
  2. You are correct in your general observation. However, it just so happens that the query and thread is specifically about the "Sikh turban" not just any turban. rough analogy---Clothes are not property of the police. Anyone can wear clothes. --------That may be true, however "police clothes" are only worn by police officers.
  3. Those men or women who go to a beauty parlours make great slaves, insecure, conforming, and obedient. Of course, they go to a beauty parlour, ergo they tend to be a tad ugly.
  4. She's hot! yes indeed, for someone with low self-esteem. I encourage you to work on your confidence to raise your standards. If you don't want to shoot for the stars, at least try to get out of the pile of ....
  5. starscream you've been sounding the same for three years. No offence!!! It's simran bro, are you expecting a hook and chorus? Beautiful job Keerpa!! thank you for sharing!
  6. Courtrooms, depending on country, have varied explicit and some unspoken dress codes, robes, suits etc. Do you see that as a ritual kphull? Or is that different? If so how is it different? Business environments have dress codes. Men wear 'men's clothing' even if some women's clothing would fit them better and vice versa. Handshakes are expected in certain environments. People stop at red lights and wait even when there is no traffic and it is absolutely safe to proceed. The union of marriage can be seen to be a ritual. Our Guruji was not so simplistic as to have a specific limited dislike for the thread itself. With respect, considering that you do understand that the kirpan is an integral part of a person for many, your view is sluggish and ill-considered. You have not seemed to consider the basic difference between discipline and ritual. You have also conveniently thrown in the word “purpose” without acknowledging its scope. All this to arrive at an abysmally stereotypical and meaningless point. Now that my friend, is a true display of the thread (Jaanou) to which our Guruji referred.
  7. Really? Starscream, do you wear shorts to a business job interview and tell the interviewers to look deeper or do you understand and dress appropriately? Hell why not wear a napkin? Why do you find it so difficult to understand basic etiquette in the home of your guruji?
  8. I've found if it's young adults without kes, they usually don't intend disrespect, but are ignorant or unaware. I would grab a ramal and subtly and quietly offer it to them and ask that they remove the cap (unless it was associated with some other faith). Your body language in such a situation communicates much about what you are saying. To their credit, I can only recall very respectful responses. If I encountered any adult doing this, I would probably ask if they were not able to find ramals and grab one and offer it to them.
  9. Just want to commend shastr on exemplary reaching out as a sikh and member of this forum. He took the initiative to PM so we could both clarify and he did so in a most humble, intelligent and mature manner. I mentioned above that I did not think we were far apart on our thoughts and it seems we do indeed have the same view. Shastr, thanks taking the initiative and displaying an exemplary spirit of sikhi.
  10. what is the level of schooling you are referring to? what subjects are you finding the most challenging? are you putting in your best effort? what have you already tried to help improve your grades?
  11. Nice to see some grey matter amongst white hair. A 14 year old puts us all to shame. Little bro you rock! The level of self confidence and common sense in today's society is such that we might as well prop our downtrodden sense of self with bags on our heads. i kinda disagree here ... not questioning the proud of thing at one should be proud of ... but there is a law of nature ... untill you have it in ur genes or its a some medical condition these are the two only reasons when its out of persons hand to have premature greying ... if person father and mother had black hair till the age of 35 - 40 ... and he has not any madical condition ... then the premature greying is just the result of un healthy and un natural life style ... something is wrong on the persons side then on the natures side ... it may be tension lack of sleep etc etc ... instead of being proud of negative stuff why not think about it and find the problem and make few changes in life style ... i m 24 years old a have a few whites couple of years back i found out whats wrong changed my lifestyle and it stopped ... does it affected my sikhi in anyway i dont think so ... nature has given most of us a chance to live healthy ... so live healthy and be proud ... we are haveing and most of us are actually haveing premature whites becuase of unnatural life style and we say oh i cant color it im gurus sikh and coluring hair is unnatural ... lets sit and think for few minutes what is unnatural ... jassa, you're right, our lifestyles, food intake are less and less natural. very important points in fact. i don't understand the last part but that may be just me. i do believe the vast vast majority of coloring is related to pure vanity, fear, and cultish beleifs about aging. color is not unnatural....but lack of confidence sucks... When it comes to health, immature blacking is a far more pervasive mental health issue than premature greying is a medical issue. Singh just two things to stop premature greying ... 1 stop worrying 2 start using natural anti oxident it would balance the unnatural diet and pollution stuff ... i had couple of white hairs i never worried and changed my life style added an anti oxident in my diet and it proved working for me ... i may sound as a marketer... but my brother in law is in bussiness with such health products ... if u want more detailed info and science behind it u can pm me and take his contact information ... thanks bro, i'm all for health products and antioxidants. Physical health to the best of one's ability is part of mental and spiritual health... so your message contains much positive. However, I think greying is only premature if it is part of some other diagnosis or disease.... my jumbled post essentially says that I look forward to grey.
  12. "We"? With that knowledge base, you consider yourself a Sikh?...based on your birth I assume? That would be the very definition of non-sikh. There is a great deal of basic info on the net and on ss, have some quick basic reads if a sikh forum interests you. Why don't governments ban the manufacture, production, sale, use, display, etc of: swords, guns, baseball bats, cricket bats, field hockey sticks, ice hockey sticks, pool cues, motorcycles, alcohol, concerts, protests, hammers, kitchen knives in homes,.... all those things are invovled in crime, violence, or risky behaviour in far larger ways than a kirpan. Wait lets get really modern kpull.... Maybe the school should think about mandating turbans for all the kids when they are on the playground equipment. God knows such a simple step could prevent so many childhood head injuries, so many that also go undiagnosed and become barriers in some way education and employment for a lifetime.

  14. Really? Yet somehow you have the right to challenge Guru Gobind Singh Ji? If we have any love for Sikhi, regardless of our personal circumstance, we need to honor it's parameters and definition, rather than whimper about our individual frail egos and need for identity. uhhh how am i challenging maharaj?? lol and u want to honor sikhi's paramaters? u want to honor a sikh's definition? really. start with urself. how many hours do u spend doing nitnem singh sahib? how many banis do u know by heart? do u do panj granthi nitnem? do u do dass granth nitnem? how many hours do u do simran ji? lets hear it. pata tey lage tusi aap kini sikhi honor kiti aa. Shastr, save the good ol punjabi showdown. You win. In your previous post, you were perhaps trying to be humble rather than challenge maharaj. However, given the nature of the thread you were challenging, and perhaps inadvertently, perverting sikhi. There are many kids who read this and there is a pervasive whimpering that is gaining ignorant confidence to suggest…. identity is not necessary for a Sikh!! And in the context of the thread, that is what you supported. My comment was not about your personal practice but about your comment. What an absurd response? This is where you completely miss the point. I am saying that anyone who cares for sikhi will not redefine sikhi to suit their purposes. As for our personal practices, well you be the Sikh and I not, that is fine with me...I am forever learning ABCs. However, it is not fine that Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s sacrifices be challenged. I think we're not so far apart on our thoughts, in lieu of a showdown, how about you make the cha, i'll bring the snacks, and I just give you a loving smack to restore harmony. Then I'll be your student when it comes to honor.

  17. Have i read the original post? yess i have.... Did he mention changing or removing or bla blaa obviously you've taken it out of context. Are you trying say he wasn't askin for a solution? You know actually i haven't read the post, im just posting without reading the dam post! u happy? en... "Please enlighten me... conceal white hair to accomplish what?" ahhh mate, thats such a silly question! ...loooll Is it the question that is silly or the answer you have that is silly? ....looooolll
  18. do the trick? trick to accomplish what? Remove white hair...what else? have you even read the original post properly......lollll very dim singh Please enlighten me... conceal white hair to accomplish what?
  19. Take this from someone whose had more than his fair share of street fights... I trust that the kirpan will give you the strength to first lift others to fight, then conquer a thousand fights with your mind, pen, and sheer determination and if absolutely necessary even hands and conventional weapons before using a kirpan. I hope the kirpan gives you courage to consider taking on 10 people in a dark lane with your hands before considering the kirpan. And even then have the courage to walk away so you can fight real fights... and with all that in mind understand what a LAST RESORT truly is, in which you might use a kirpan.
  20. nice to see someone thinking beyond the surface. nice post.
  21. G Singh… Approach the memory card slot and inhale. Close mouth to increase suction, open mouth to increase suction area. Don’t swallow it or you’ll be asking us next ‘how do I get a memory card out of my esophagus’. Seriously don’t attempt that unless you are a professionally trained memory card remover cause you could have your airway blocked and pass out and die before being able to post on how to remove it. Handheld vacuum or more powerful vacuum where you will be able to retrieve card. Make sure it’s not so powerful that you damage the computer. Take the laptop to a store that sells vacuums. Explain the problem and bring candy.
  22. will do ardas. if she has told you that she is suicidal ask her to be more specific in what she means by that. To assess her risk find out if she has a specific plan, how, when, where. The more specific the plan the greater the risk. This is not to say that no plan and other signs mean she is safe. Do not assure her confidentiality. At some point you may need to get others involved.
  23. Could you change the title of the post? It is not necessary. You and I may disagree with practices and point them out or ask about them, but it is rather crude to declare a diverse and varied faith or identity a 'joke'.
