  1. Obviously, I have no idea how old/mature you are, but suggesting that people should be killed because they put forward a viewpoint that you disagree with - is highly irresponsible. We are not Al Qaeda or the Taliban.
  2. genuine question...this is not the group that did well on India's Got Talent??
  3. Such hypocrisy!! Some of you really need to question how you behave when a muslim commits a crime. Here are the facts on this guy... Mr Singh Rana was found guilty of five counts of indecent assault, 11 counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of attempted assault in August 1986. During his trial, it was revealed he posed as a doctor and tricked his way into women's homes. He then subjected his victims to internal examinations and injected them. He was jailed for a total of four years.
  4. I haven't seen any news coverage of this in the local print or online media? If anyone has found coverage, please could they post a link....
  5. You shouldn't stereotype women as being scared and weak - many of our Sikh women have displayed great bravery. I don't have a particularly strong opinion on this 'baba' except that he has displayed behaviour that I don't associate with true Sikhi living - the birthday party video, his obsession with fashion (and colour co-ordination), luxury living and travel (when touring the west).... ...but given his clear love of the media - I suggest he should do a meeting on live TV with Sukhwinder Singh - where face to face he can challenge the accusations..
  6. This interview is embarrassing .... to give it some credibility, the interviewer should make an attempt to challenge Ranjit Singh's comments. He just keeps saying Jee, Jee, Jee.... I am not saying that Sukhwinder Singh's allegations or those of other people have been proven, but I think that Ranjit Singh has a mountain to climb....even though he and his supporters are clearly engaged in a major media offensive.
  7. There is a difference between deliberately killing an animal and accidentally killing one. anyway....It was supposed to be a joke...
  8. I don't know why you guys are suggesting using a shampoo that kills head lice - Sikhi teaches you that it is wrong to harm other life deliberately and using a shampoo is a deliberate act to kill head lice. You should only pick them out one by one and then put them in the garden.
  9. Well then...need to improve your sentence structure!! ;-)
  10. Ha!! ha!! 4 hours?? You must be kidding .....that's running 26 miles at 9 mins a mile - he's over a 100 years old!! If he does double that (i.e. 8 hours), it'll be an outstanding performance.
  11. I'm not sure that response was worth the hour or two it probably took you to come up with...
  12. If you don't drink alcohol, why do u feel the need to prevent other people from drinking alcohol. It's a reception held in the PM's offices to celebrate Baisakhi..three points: it was not a religious festival; it was not held in a place of worship; no one was forced to attend. so get a life and stop carping about everything!!
  13. You have to appreciate that at the time, the Gurbani and other religious scriptures were compiled, spiritual leaders felt an obligation to explain many thanks that - in reality - they could not explain, because Science was not yet advanced enough. For example, the old testament's explanation of how God created the Earth in 7 days. Similarly, use the Gurbani as a spiritual guide in your life but not as a source of explanation for matters that require scientific analysis.
  14. I have not read Dawkin's recent books - but have read his earlier material such as Selfish Gene and the Blind Watchmaker. He is right in what he says about Evolution and the fact that the Earth was not created through some divine act. I don't agree with him on faith though. It doesn't stop you being a good Sikh.

  16. LUCKNOW: Twenty years after a case of staged shootout, a CBI court in Ghaziabad on Thursday held 17 policemen guilty and sentenced 16 of them to life imprisonment, making it perhaps the largest number of cops convicted for life at one go in the country. They were convicted of killing an alleged Sikh militant, Jaivender Singh Jasna of Amritsar, in a fake encounter in 1992. One of them was given a seven-year sentence. All 17 were fined Rs 5,000 each. Jasna, a "sewadar" (worker) at Gurdwara Rakabganj in New Delhi, was gunned down by a team of 17 policemen in Bardpur, Bijnore, on October 31, 1992. The police claimed that an AK-56 rifle and 24 cartridges were recovered from Jasna, a sewadar at Gurdwara Rakabganj in New Delhi, when he was gunned down by a team of 17 policemen in Bijnore in October 1992. They suspected he was handling Sikh militancy in the Terai region of UP. Out of the 17 cops, 16 were given life term on Thursday. The only comparable instance of such mass convictions took place in Nagpur. Eight people were convicted for massacring a Dalit family in 2006-six of them got death sentences and two life imprisonment. In July 2010, the convictions of six of them, who were given death, were commuted to life. The Ghaziabad CBI court order, a rarity, only underscores UP's dubious distinction of recording the largest number of fake encounters in the country, with one police officer saying it was higher than in insurgency-hit states like Manipur, J&K, and Chattisgarh. Given the recovery of an AK-56 rifle supposedly from Jasna, the FIR lodged in connection with the encounter with Bardapur police under Sections 307 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act also included sections 3/4 of TADA. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/16-cops-get-life-terms-for-fake-encounter-in-UP/articleshow/12462460.cms
  17. Dude....this isn't 1812...it's 2012. If she won't even hold your hand...is there a chance she is not interested in men?? Seriously, I would ask. Also, you should consumate the marriage on the first night after the wedding..tell her, its like eating sprouts the first time...just open your mouth and chew and worry about the taste later... and after that you love them (anyway I love sprouts). If you are unsure, there is plenty of material on the internet that offers advice on such matters.
  18. So this was filmed at the earliest in 1988 (4 years after the attack on the Golden Temple) and the only "saviours" of the honour of Sikh women were Sikhs with cut hair??
  19. Can someone bolster my low self esteem, by praising me too.
  20. I was in Gurgaon last month and met a black labrador and an English sheepdog who were commuting to their job as call centre operatives. The black labrador (i think he was called Ranjit) had just returned from the gurdwara where one of his uncles had organised an akhand path. He gave me his mobile number and on my next visit to Delhi, he is going to take me to the gurdwara - i'll update details on the forum then.
  21. Yes, you're right. I have been completely beaten by your successful arguments and effective debating style. Well done.
  22. Judging by the quality of your (and KhalistaniGunMan's) English and your opinions, I assume you are either very young or mentally challenged?
  23. Look, my issue is with something that happens on this website - making massive generalisations about ethnic/religous groups. There are good and bad Somalis - just like in every community there is good and bad. Somalis have also regenerated neighbourhoods by opening businesses that meet the needs of their community - just visit the Uxbridge Road in Shepherd's Bush or shopping areas in Southall. yes, some may be involved in drugs smuggling .....but so are plenty of Sikhs in cities like Vancouver..
