    Amritwela

There are 8 types of amritvela. Please listen to japji sahib Katha by giani thakur Singh Jee where he explains what each of them are The first is as everyone knows from 12 midnight till sunrise. Giani Ji said that door of sachkhand is fully open 12-4am. Then it gets closed half way till 5am. After 5am it is closed completely but a small window is kept open till sunrise. Once sun rises even that small window is closed Another type of amritvela is when we read gurbani. This can be anytime during the day. It is well known within the panth that rising early is one of the most important things for a sikh. Bhagat fareed Jee says Fareedaa raat kathoori vandeai, suttea Miley naa bhao. Jinna nain nindravaley tinna Milan kuaoo.

  6. ^ Is it just me that thinks that showing mutilated bodies of our highly respectable shaheeds is disrespectful?
  7. Again, don't make things personal in the thread or it will be closed. Use the PM feature instead.
  8. If you read jeevani of puratan Singhs, one thing is common to all of them. They had very strict amritvela and did LOTS of Gurbani abhiyaas. I read Bhai Rama Singh Jee's book a few years ago and Bhai sahib noted that as you move further on the path of Gursikhi, your body starts to get numb. The process starts at the feet and it progresses upward from there. Eventually, you get to a point where you do not feel pain or pleasure at all from anything. Giani Thakur Singh Jee also talks about this in his Japji Sahib katha. It's not a matter of 'mind controls the body' as you put (I feel you are moving fast toward becoming an atheist) but it's the power of Naam. That power comes by doing lots and lots of Gurbani abhyaas which can only be done once Waheguru Jee does kirpa on us. To answer your questions directly, Yes, their body did feel pain. But through the immense amount of Naam kamai they had, they were in complete anand at all times and thus didn't care/feel. Such things are impossible to explain and impossible to understand unless you have such a avastha your self. I certainly do not.
  9. Please be advised that if things get personal, the thread will be closed.
  10. Well put. Thread closed. Let's focus on Gurbani first please.
  11. Your last thread was closed as it was in the wrong section. Moving.
  12. ^ Right you are. Thread closed West London Singh, perhaps I wasn't clear enough. Women and men are equal, but only spiritually. I hope I don't have to go into details of how they are different physically. That is all I was trying to say. It's Panj Singh (not singhnia), panj Payarey (not payaria).

  14. This has been discussed plenty of times on this forum, please use the search feature. A quick search found me this thread http://www.sikhsanga...2Bbibia+%2Bpanj I would also like to add that the western concept of equality (which the current generation is aware of) is not necessarily the same in Gurmat.
  15. Dhanwaad payareo I Googled and came across a direct link to the Katha done by Giani Thakur Singh Je http://www.gurmatvee...Granth_Sahib_Ji A huge thank you to the payarey at gurmatveechar for their untiring seva in making so many gurbani resources made available to the sangat worldwide :respect:
  16. Can the entire katha be downloaded from somewhere?
  17. So we are just suppose to take your word for it? While I have nothing against you personally, that does not sit well with me. If you make a claim on a public forum, you should provide direct evidence to support your claim.
  18. ^ Again, do you have any proof for what you wrote?
  19. This is recited prior to starting katha from Suraj Prakash Granth written by Kavi Santokh Singh Jee. I'm not sure of the source of the dohra (?) but I always assumed it was noted in Suraj Prakah Granth.
  20. As noted by other members, there are good and bad apples in every community. Learn from the good ones and pray for the bad ones. Closing topic.

    Confused

I think all that needs to be said from a Sikhi perspective has been said, the link is quite good. So I'm closing this topic now as it has already been reported (thank you for that).
