  1. Yes I'm sure the cleaning staff at the airport would really appreciate that. After all, it was their mistake to try and earn a living by cleaning garbage of people like you and me by working at the airport. *major sarcasm* If it really bothers folks to land at Delhi airport, next time land at Amristar. Simple.
  2. Yes! That's what I wanted to say. You just put in pefect words There are songs like the one I linked to, which make you self reflect and bring you closer to Sikhi.
  3. Perhaps it wasn't clear from the post, I was being sarcastic Edit: Just realized my reponse above wouldn't help, allow me to explain. Dhadi vaar and kavishri are also not classified as Gurbani Kirtan. So then, if all non-kirtan songs are to be shunned then lets shun dhadhi and kavishri as well. What people are saying here is like saying: oh look, tabla/harmonium is used in a kotha (where prostitutes dance, used to happen in old times a lot) so lets stop using it in Kirtan. Just because something is used in bad ways does not mean it can also not be used in good ways. Things are typically never black and white so lets try to avoid treating them as such.
  4. :dry2: If listening to anything other than kirtan is "wrong", then I suppose we should stop doing dhadhi vaara and kavishri in our Gurdwaras
  5. hgsingh, please show courtesy while discussing with other members Dhanwaad.
  6. Police comes in and they go into the darbar with shoes on. I have seen this personally. Typically such situations arise because people are trying to stop beadbi from happening. But its ironic that their attempt actually causes more beadbi to happen. Sad really.
  7. As far as I know, Guru Sahib did not spend a lot of money constructing buildings for sangat. Even Sri Darbar Sahib did not have gold until Maharaj Ranjit Singh had it put on. While some of the things like ramps and larger elevators are good to have, I don't think something like that would have contributed much to the total cost of $4.5million.
  8. Bhaji, haldi is one of the primary ingredient in Indian cooking...should that be avoided too?
  9. I think its awesome that you be used as the face of a campaign to curb smoking.
  10. There is a vaar by Bhai Gurdaas Jee where he states and kirtan is like heavy pouring rain, it washes all dirt from one's mind. He goes on to say that katha is like a light drizzle, it does not wash away the dirt, but it seeps deeps inside one's mind. There is a reason why kirtan is done first and katha is done after. I can not remember which vaar or pauri this is stated in however.

  15. No we do not check PMs. Sometimes you have to trust that people will follow rules on their own without someone enforcing them. I certainly hope that is not too much to ask for.
  16. This is what I remember from katha done by Giani Thakur Singh Jee. In very simply terms kireman karam = karam you do everyday sanchit = karams as they have accumulated from kireman karam paralabdh = destiny already written for you; this is based on all your sanchit karam (this life and previous) Hopefully my memory of this katha is still intact enough that I have not given wrong information. Please correct and forgive me if I have
  17. Personally I think its okay as it is being taken as medication and not to satisfy one's taste buds.
  18. It's not a waste of time. There is a really important concept in Sikhi, it's called Sarbat Da Bhala.
  19. I'm not sure where you copy pasted that whole post from, but I have one question for you. Do you not understand the concept of Nirgun and Sargun? Also, I'm not sure what you are saying but I'm wondering if I suddenly am not able to write coherent English. I never said there were multiple Gods. No Sikh can say that as Gurbani starts from the the number One. Guru Gobind Singh Jee in Sri Jaap Sahib says Anyk hYN ] iPr eyk hYN ] nmsqM ArUpy nmo srb rUpy
  20. Gurbani clearly states jo aupijE so ibnis hY pro Awju kY kwil ] Since we can all agree that Guru Sahib is sada sada, it can be easily deduced that Guru Sahib did not take birth
