Sikhs in Wolverhampton gather to mourn Queen in special ceremony

About 200 people gathered for prayers and to share their memories at a Sikh temple following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prayers lasted for two days at Guru Teg Bahadur Gurdwara in Wolverhampton.

The Sikh holy scripture was recited in a special ceremony over the weekend and a langar meal was shared.

The Gurdwara said it was reflecting on the Queen's achievements, her role as head of the Church of England and her respect for other religions.

The chair of the trust in the Gurdwara, Surjit Singh Uppal, said the Sikh community was grieving.

"I believe the Sikh community in this country are part of the family of the nation," he said.

"We are grieving for her, same as the rest of the country, and this is the message we would like to tell the British people that we are part of you."

Gurdeep Singh Aulakh, from the Gurdwara, said the Queen was "deeply" devoted.

"Being head of [the] Church of England was not an easy task for somebody who needs to balance the other faiths," he said.

"All I can say is obviously from myself, from family, congregation, friends, we really want to send the heartfelt condolence to the Royal Family."

Bhangra Pa-lice: California cops called on Punjabi wedding after noise complaint join dance - Watch

Cops in California responded to a complaint about loud music coming from a Punjabi pre-wedding party in Tracy but took all attendees by surprise when they joined in for a dance. Manpreet Toor's family had organised a Jaggo ceremony ahead of family member Mandiver and fiancee Raman's wedding when the unusual incident happened.

Neighbours of Manpreet alerted the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office about loud noise coming from the pre-wedding party. Manpreet did turn the volume down eventually but not before two deputies from JCSO tried their hands and legs at the dance. All nervous attendees at the party were left surprised to see such an unusual interaction play out.

Gangs of Hindu youths are ‘terrorisingMuslims in Leicester’

Gangs of drunken Hindu youths have been terrorising Muslims in Leicester, local activists have told 5Pillars.

Tensions began in May when a 19 year old Muslim man was attacked with bats and poles  by a gang of around 30 Hindu youths, 5Pillars was told. They also attacked a man who was trying to protect the victim in his house.

The 19 year old was hospitalised and the incident was reported to the police, but the perpetrators have yet to be charged.

On August 28, after an India-Pakistan cricket match, a large group of Hindu men marched through the streets in Leicester chanting “Death to Pakistan,” which led to clashes. A Sikh man who was trying to stop the chants was assaulted as was a police officer.

According to locals, two days ago another 19 year old Muslim was attacked by a gang of Hindu men after he went out to smoke a cigarette late at night. The incident happened after another Pakistan-India cricket match. The Muslim was accused of celebrating the Pakistan victory by throwing eggs at people. He was subsequently hospitalised.

And last night there was a meeting in Leicester about the incidents attended by over 300 people, including police representatives. After the meeting a group of Muslim men marched through areas of Leicester to show their presence. Clashes and stand-offs with the police occurred up until about 11pm.

Community activist Majid Freemen told 5Pillars: “Something like this has never happened in this area; it’s very shocking. These gangs have been causing different types of issues for a long time, anti-social behaviour such as urinating in the streets and getting drunk. But now they’re attacking Muslims. Muslim women in the area say they’re being intimidated by Hindus and locals feel like the police aren’t taking it seriously. They are extremely frustrated with the authorities.

“Muslims and Hindus have been living in peace here for years. They’ve never had any issues. But this specific group of youngsters are going around getting drunk and beating people up and it’s causing disunity in the community. If the police had done their job they could have nipped it in the bud. There is a total lack of communication with the community about what is actually happening.”

He added: “The Muslims in the area didn’t respond to these provocations because the family of the victim of the attack in May told them they’d gone through the proper channels. But the attacks haven’t stopped. These gangs are picking Muslims off “30 on one” late at night.

“At the meeting last night the Muslims made it clear that they have no problem with Hindus. But what we will not accept is our kids getting beaten up repeatedly and nothing happening about it.”

    ‘Misinformation’

5Pillars contacted Leicestershire Police and they issued the following statement.

“Yesterday evening (Monday 5 September) we received reports that a number of people were in the area of Cottesmore Road and that three people had suffered injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing. One person suffered a stab wound to their hand. A full and robust investigation is underway. Our message is clear – we have a zero-tolerance approach to violence.

“We are saddened that these incidents have occurred and understand they are causing concern to our communities and we urge the community to work with us to identify those responsible. It is our aim to de-escalate tensions and officers are making progress on these investigations as a matter of priority.

“In addition, we are working closely with community leaders and trying to provide reassurance and prevent inadvertent misinformation spreading in the community.

An 82-year-old Sikh man was assaulted during a robbery on a Queens street Monday night. Naveen Dhaliwal has the story.

RICHMOND HILL, Queens (WABC) -- An 82-year-old Sikh man was assaulted during a robbery on a Queens street Monday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. at the corner of 112th Street and Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill, where the victim, Onkar Singh, was walking when two unknown suspects approached him from behind and punched him multiple times.

"I said, 'Don't hit me, don't beat me. Take whatever I have. Take my money, whatever I have,'" Singh said. "'Don't beat me, don't kill me. Whatever I have, you can take my money.'"

He fell to the sidewalk, suffering lacerations and swelling to the right side of his face and chest.

"They hit me in the chest; I fell down," he said. "I tried to jump to the middle of the street...I had my phone I my pocket. I don't know if it slipped out, but they took it and ran."

Police say the suspects took the victim's cell phone and fled in an unknown direction.

Singh was taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home.

He said he still has swelling in his jaw, and he will no longer walk alone, even in the daytime.

"It's very sad," he said. "They are spoiled street boys. They don't know anything about the well use of the life."

There are no arrests at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.

"This shouldn't happen in any community," activist Japneet Singh said. "There's a clear pattern that elders are being targeted."

    Updated: 17 August, 2022

Is Greece turning out to be a hotbed for Grooming Jihad by Pakistani immigrants? Recent murder of a 17-year-old is only the latest of such crimes

In another case, a 34-year-old Pakistani national named Imran Khan attempted to rape a minor girl and 3 young women in Athens. He was later arrested from a cafe by the officials of the Security Sub Directorate of Southeast Attica.

On August 2 this year, the Athens police launched a massive manhunt for a Pakistani man, wanted in the brutal murder of his 17-year-old girlfriend Nicoletta.

The accused, a Pakistani immigrant named Ahsan was even hosted by the girl’s family in their house. As per reports, he killed his minor girlfriend after she allegedly spoke ill of Quran and asked him to convert to Christianity. The body of the deceased was sent for medical examination which confirmed that the victim was suffocated to death.

The matter came to light when Athens-based doctorate researcher Paul Antonopoulos cited the case and warned the Greek youth to be wary of Pakistani Muslim men, conspiring to entrap them in ‘love jihad.’

This is, however, not an isolated case. Paul began documenting such cases of grooming since December 2020 when two underage girls (aged 16 and 17) were drugged, raped and kept in illegal confinement by a Pakistani national.

The victims however managed to escape and notified the police, leading to the arrest of the accused. On raiding the home of the Pakistani national, the police recovered 49 packets of cannabis, heroin and 70 pills.

In the following month, a 20-year-old Pakistani attempted to rape a 5-year-old toddler in the Koropi area in East Attica in Greece. The accused was identified as Ihtisham Ali, who worked at an equestrian club.

Following a complaint by the victim’s mother, the police swung into action and nabbed the accused. Ali confessed to committing the heinous crime. The Juvenile Protection Sub-Directorate officers also launched a probe to determine whether he had committed such sexual offences in the past.

Opindia-Office-Work-1-3.jpg?resize=696%2C398&ssl=1Pakistani national Ihtisham Ali, image via Twitter/ Paul Antonopoulos

In January 2021, a 29-year-old Pakistani was apprehended by the Juvenile Protection Sub-Directorate for sexually abusing a minor girl in Athens since September 2019.

As per the complaint, the accused chased the victim near Attiki Square, and stabbed her with a knife on August 23, 2020. He then went on to rape her brutally.

The Pakistani man also coerced her into silence. He continued his heinous crime until January 2021 when the victim finally reached out to the police and had him arrested.

In a tweet in February that year, Paul Antonopolous wrote, “A Pakistani attempted to rape and rob a woman with a knife in the small municipality of Koliri in the Peloponnese. How many more rapes and attempted rapes need to occur before mass deportations begin?

He also highlighted another case wherein an 11 year old girl was sexually assaulted by a 25-year-old Pakistani in Karpathos islands in Greece.

In March last year, a Pakistani national attempted to molest his 13-year-old neighbour in Messara village of the Crete island. Reportedly, the pervert tried to kiss the victim on the mouth when the latter went to his house.

The matter came to light when the child informed about the sexually inappropriate behaviour to his father, who in turn called the police.

Similarly, a woman named Despina Platanaki was sexually assaulted by a man of Pakistani origin on March 19, 2021.

While recounting the incident, she said, “He started beating me furiously, kicking and punching me, and tearing my clothes, while he was punching me in the chest, buttocks and genitals!”

“Despite the shock and terror, I reciprocated the blows as much as I could. Better dead than raped,’ she added. A cyclist came to her rescue, following which the Pakistani man fled the crime scene. The perpetrator was arrested and sentenced to 7 years in prison for victimising a total of 16 women.

In another case, a 34-year-old Pakistani national named Imran Khan attempted to rape a minor girl and 3 young women in Athens. He was later arrested from a cafe by the officials of the Security Sub Directorate of Southeast Attica.

He was charged for attempted rape, disobedience, insult of sexual dignity, violence and minor bodily harm. Prior to his arrest, he had posted on Instagram, “I think I’m afraid of being happy because every time I’m happy something bad happens.”

In one case, a 25-year-old pregnant woman was raped by an Afghani man in Athens.

“After the 3-month-pregnant woman was raped by an Afghani in Central Athens, she called for help. Instead of receiving assistance from the 3 Pakistanis that approached her, they gang-raped her instead!!!”, Paul Antonopoulos stated.

As recently as July 25, 2022, a 23-year-old woman was drugged, abducted from Livadi beach and raped by 2 Pakistani men.

Paul pointed out that the existence of grooming gangs in Greece can be directly attributed to the overly sexually repressive society of Pakistan.

He emphasised, “Overly sexually repressive societies like Pakistan is a major reason for the rape culture we see them bring to Greece when they illegally enter as “Syrian refugees.” Of course, Pakistanis in Greece are not the only ones to do this, but they’re massively disproportionately represented.”

I remember in the early 2000's Australia was all the rage and you never heard about Keneda.

I think that even though both are Anglo countries, our people in general prefer Keneda over Australia.

Though Australia had their fair share of the putteh kam by these "hard working students"

What happens when all the Anglo countries dry up their student visas, where will these students go?

At least in Canada there are virtually no illegal Panjabi immigrants, they all get pakay.

SURREY, Canada: A function was held by Sikh National Archive at Lovely Banquet Hall in Surrey to release Dr Jasbir Singh Sarna's book ' The Sikhs in Jammu Kashmir'.

The event was presided over by the Director of World Punjabi Center, Patiala. Prof Balkar Singh, Reverend Jaiteg Singh Anant of Haridarshan Memorial International Trust Canada and Gyan Singh Sandhu, Founder President of World Sikh Organization....

There is a very good historical account of the history of 17 historical places associated with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and six Gurdwaras of the Sixth Patshah. Sri Guru Har Rai Ji went there in 1660 AD and Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1692 in Jammu. The description of going there is also found in this book. Dr. Sarna has presented the background of the Sikh state very well in it. The story of the tragic partition of 1947 is depicted in which 100 Kashmiri Sikh personalities (men and women) are identified with highly inventive figures and photographs. In chapter 14 of the book, the creative description of the eight decades and challenges of the Kashmir valley, the narrative of the ups and downs of human life like the Kashmir valley is also done with very appropriate research and vocabulary....

Dr. Sarna's book is political-free and is an important document of Kashmir through which Dr. Sarna has provided important information about Kashmir which is not available elsewhere. Through this book it is known about the very close relationship between Kashmir and Sikhs...

Well-known Brampton, Ont. real estate agent, media personality attacked outside home

    Published Aug. 10, 2022 2:48 p.m. ET
    Updated Aug. 10, 2022 5:49 p.m. ET

A well-known real estate agent and media personality in Brampton, Ont. was viciously attacked in broad daylight in his own driveway by three men, two of whom appeared to be wielding an axe and a machete

Peel police said it happened at around 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 4 in the area of Hurontario Street and Mayfield Road.

In video obtained by CTV News Toronto, the victim, who has been identified by family as Joti Singh Mann, is seen approaching his white Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. As he is getting settled in the driver’s seat, he is approached by an axe-wielding suspect and slams the door shut.

Video shows the suspect swinging his weapon in full force at the driver-side window—breaking the glass on impact and removing the window completely on the second swing.

    Brampton assault

As Singh Mann opens the door, two other suspects enter the frame, one of whom is armed with what appears to be a machete.

The three men, dressed in black and wearing masks, are seen savagely attacking the man while they pull him out of his vehicle.

Mann attempts to escape his attackers by running behind the vehicle, where he is caught and attacked for another 30 seconds before a woman, who has since been identified by CP24 as Mann’s mother, exits the home to intervene.

Once the suspects flee, Mann’s mother can be seen running to her son, who is not seen for the remainder of the video.

Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after the incident. Peel police could not speak to the extent of Mann’s injuries, but said he is currently in stable condition.

Mann is a well-known real estate agent in Brampton and frequently appears on his own podcast in which he discusses ongoing issues in India.

    Joti Singh Mann

Speaking to CP24, Brampton Councillor Gurpreet Singh Dhillon said he has visited Mann in hospital and that his injuries include an amputated big toe, the loss of mobility in one of his hands, and that he has received upwards of 25 stitches.

“A lot of people are questioning the safety in this city,” Singh Dhillon told CP24, adding that this is the third attack on a Punjabi media personality in Brampton in the last year. In fact, Mann’s mother told CP24 that her son had received a threat while he was recording a recent episode of his podcast.

“A lot of people are also questioning the freedom of the media to report and do their commentary. So we’re looking forward to getting more information from police as they do their investigation.”

Investigators tell CTV News Toronto that the incident was targeted and not related to a carjacking, but that the motive behind the attack is not known at this time.

    No arrests have been made.

THIS WAS CLEARLY ATTEMPTED MURDER’: BRAMPTON MAYOR

In an interview with CP24 Wednesday afternoon, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown praised Mann’s mother’s bravery while condemning the attack in the strongest terms.

“The courage of the mother to face these criminals—this was clearly attempted murder,” Brown said.

“She showed incredible courage and her heroic actions probably saved her son’s life."

Brown said he is in communication with Peel police and that they have “very strong leads” on the suspects involved.

In the meantime, Brown underscored freedom of the press and reiterated that no one should feel intimidated for sharing their ideas.

“Whatever topics this podcaster was speaking about, the notion that someone could try through violence to silence them is criminal behavior that can never be tolerated,” Brown said.

West Midlands Police officer faces misconduct panel after Sikh man's patka removed

A police sergeant is to face a gross misconduct hearing after a Sikh man said his head covering was forcibly removed in custody.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it investigated the actions of seven officers over an incident at a custody suite in Perry Barr, Birmingham, in October.

It said one, a sergeant, may have breached standards.

The complainant described his experience as a "racial hate crime".

He said his treatment was due to discrimination against him as a Sikh.

Hundreds of people demonstrated outside the Perry Barr station in October after a video started circulating on social media suggesting the man's patka had been stamped on, although the video was quickly branded by the IOPC at the time as false.

On Wednesday, it said CCTV confirmed this was the case.

However, the watchdog said standards for equality and diversity may have been breached during the incident.

    'Significant unrest'

It also referenced the sergeant's "use of force relating to his handling of the situation and his decision to remove the man's head covering".

IOPC regional director Derrick Campbell said the incident had "caused significant unrest within the local community at the time".

He said a misconduct panel would now be put together by West Midlands Police.

While the watchdog said the other six officers would not face a hearing, it said four of them "would benefit from taking part in reflective practice".
