  1. Wonder how long before someone on here blames the 'haircut jobs' for not wearing turbans and making the victim stand out or the usual excuses of 'these people need more education' or 'we arent muslims' gets prattled out.
  2. Some in the west have wised up and sold their land but kept some land/house just in case they ever have to stay in India which is smart as they will never farm there or have kids who want to do it but want to keep their presence in the village. But if you're ever feeling lonely, tell some Sikhs you want to sell your land and watch as your phone rings nonstop as randoms from all over the UK offer to give you loads of money to buy it. There are still plenty who want land, regardless of how badly off they are in the UK. Some of them even rub peoples noses in it back home, telling them they can buy the land because they are so rich in the UK when they actually live in a 2 up, 2 down in Southall. This just gets peoples backs up back in East Punjab and fuels a lot of animosity and distrust. The thing is, if you want to be a farmer be a farmer because you like the lifestyle not because owning land is a sign of being a 'big' man. The rest of us cant dictate to them because its not our livelihoods on the line nor do we want to affect 'food security' in an adverse way. But with companies like Monsanto opening labs in East Punjab, the uneducated farmers are ripe to be exploited. Funny how these foreign companies target India and Africa for their experiments, isnt it? The English call it 'not ****ting on your own doorstep'. Unfortunately the East Punjab government dont take food security seriously, so expect the worst. Sikh farmers face issues no different to what other farmers around the world have faced but they have managed to get over it. Hopefully ours will too, before they end up like those african farmers who are suffering thanks to western companies (though we never hear about it on our news here). Though it's good to hear people there arent just doing what NRIs are telling them to. Leaving NRI land will hopefully get them to sell and lead to sustainable sized farms for those who actually want to do the work or lead to less overfarming.
  3. Large land owners owning more land than they can farm and legging it to the West to live the high life whilst small farmers/rural workers live a third world existence and send their sons/daughters abroad to work as menial labour/prostitutes. Desperation to get the most of the land leading to overuse of fertilizer which leads to eutrophication, poisonous drinking water, lower water levels etc, but they still dont understand any of that. Overuse of fertiliser = good in their minds, but in reality it just means bumper profits for the companies making the fertilizer. Most people think its the Indian government who are behind the poisoning lol. Add to that NRIs investing in land and then moaning that the prices are so high and East Punjabis are so poor... because they cant afford land to farm as the NRIs drive the price up. Then NRIs moan there is nothing else to invest in in East Punjab so they buy more land they will never farm. Youngsters there see this and become obsessed with getting out of India no matter what, and we all know the problems that leads to. Then we in the west just cry 'oh its a secret war against us'. Yeah maybe it is, but we arent exactly helping ourselves here.
  4. Brevik a martyr? He's not even dead! If you read his manifesto he berates Islam and it's imperial history whilst to play down Western imperialism. It's done so badly he just comes across like a middle class white clown. What was funny though was how people in the Uk responded. At first they thought it was muslims who had committed the outrage and were saying how all brown people should be kicked out etc. Then when it turned out he was white, they suddenly sympathised with him and saw him as the victim. Why so many of our own community want to emulate these losers is beyond me.
  5. The Jews dont trust the musis or the EDL. With the rise of anti-Semitism in the UK and Europe it shows how right they are. Sikhs shouldnt be any different. Many of the whites were happy to see the Sikhs be a buffer to the muslims in the past. They only care now there are so many muslims that it affects them too. Dont see that as a great reason to join in with them, once the muslims arent a problem they will turn on Sikhs and other groups. My only advice is not to get caught in the middle. If you do, then you are dumb or have picked a side and should follow through with your commitment. I couldnt care less either way, just different skin tones of the same hateful Abrahamic heritage.
  6. Organisations like this are usually built around a small group of people. As they get older they dont really hand the reins over so the organisations just wind down. I think they both exist but dont have as much presence as they used to.
  7. And this is why agriculture is turning into a train wreck in Punjab.
  8. Somebody tell the Nihangs and SGPC to double the guards in Amritsar tonight...
  9. They tried to didnt they? I think it was the 1880s, the British tried to sell Harmandir Sahib but there was a storm and one of the auctioneers was killed by lightning or the auction house was destroyed by a storm. It's years since I was told the story and I cant remember the details but nobody talks about it nowadays.
  10. Even if he did apologise, he wouldnt really mean it. Sikhs have supposedly overtaken Jews in the last census when it comes to contribution to the Exchequer per capita. The Tories want to tap into that, thinking that having Cameron visit Harmandir Sahib will make us think he's a really great guy. Most Sikhs in the UK probably will fall for it, especially as the media are presenting it as a great thing that the PM of Britain is visiting. When in reality he's just another tourist, just a richer and more well connected one than usual.
  11. It was a bad idea letting Cameron into the Golden Temple. Did you see how his eyes popped out? The man had never seen so much gold in his life. Wouldnt be surprised if he tried to break some off to sell at Cash4Gold to bring the deficit down. It's not like they havent tried before...
  12. Probably. But the same is true of the UK.
  13. Any Indian student who wants to come to the Uk needs their head examined. He wants indian students to prop up the broke English uni system. Dont fall for it and waste your money! Go to Canada or the States instead. Once you finish the course you wont even be able to get a job stacking shelves but they will make sure you pay through the nose for the pleasure of studying here. @Hammertime: NonEU students have to pay between £15,000 to £30,000 a year in course fees whilst it's EU residents who pay £9000. I dont know any restaurants that pay over £30,000 so your idea that they will flood here is stupid. This is all about the UK using its' image to con naive foreigners - UK PLC's modus operandi for last few centuries.
  14. Can we buy this one and stick all the tourists in it? Overcrowding at Harmandir Sahib is supposedly a major problem.
  15. Could you get me Diljit Dosanjh's autograph? Thanks.
  16. Even if he does apologise, it wont mean anything. The goreh screwed us good and proper, an apology wont change that. Pardoning all the shaheeds killed by the British Government, acknowledging their wrongdoing in starting wars with Punjab and returning all stolen artefacts and scriptures would be a start though.
  17. I'm not surprised, some of these aunties never shut up.
  18. Is your surname Saville by any chance? Somebody call SAS!!!
  19. The vast majority of Sikhs in West London, East Berks and Buckinghamshire are behind the school. Opposition is the typical nimbyism felt by villagers with a mob mentality. If they dont get it they will just go somewhere else. No big deal. But were Sikhs dont go, someone else does, and the hope the residents of Stoke Poges will enjoy that rather than Sikhs.
  20. Can people sign this please? We all whinge when we access to good institutions and having problems growing up in schools where Sikhs are a minority. Then when a chance to change it comes along, we do nothing. How are you going to get anything done if you cant even fill in a form?
  21. What goes around come around. They wont be like that when they are in trouble. Petty, I know, but that's the way it is.
  22. I havent seen you at the Punjab Fascist Party meetings so I'll say no. Unless you were hiding in the toilets or something.
