    Veer ji It has been this way from the beginning of 3HO that gorey were kept away from Punjabi Gursikhs except when paraded around for cameras in Amritsar and then they were totally chaperoned from place to place by Harbhajan's minders. Even a Friend's experience of Miri Piri Academy was negative in terms of the Gorey sikhs being brainwashed into thinking they are superior to Desi sikhs as they are more pure somehow and in on the real deal . Gursant Singh an ex3HO member has written much about what the internal politics are of the organisation and I suspect that they will not be welcoming to Gursikhs as they know that what they are doing is not Gurmat and will remove their newly impressed flock from their well-controlled bubble of 'sikh dharma' ...

    Having been through similar myself I think confrontational is the wrong approach as he seems too set in his anger pattern to listen in a balanced way, what has worked is making the effort to make the rest of the family mittbolardey and the home full of gurbani kirtan thus the atmosphere is calming ...and purifying

I propose that sikhs do sewa of dastar tying for sangat every weekend/weekday ideally in every Guru ghar so everyone has a chance to learn and pass on the knowledge, it's not just sikhs who are interested even people outside our faith wish to do things right when going to Darbar.     3HO are not following gursikhi ...the gursikhs who had amrit in the seventies eighties from Birmingham of AKJ jatha were sabat soorat and had no special dispensations except being allowed to plait head kesh to make a joora not corn rows by the way

    Bhen ji , it is all maya jaal , he has his path and you yours, do your ardas in front of Guru ji to lift your mind out of this chinta/judgemental frame of mind and do more naam and mool mantar abihaas . My dad was similar and it took me a long time to realise what Guru ji tells at the end of our daily Japji Sahib in Salok it is all down to Guru's kirpa whether we become nearer or further from Akal Purakh. Do your work and be successful in your life's mission and maybe your father will change in time too.

    plus you are handicapping your naam japna as it passes through the different stages ...gurmukh rom rom har dhiavey ...you have many lakhs of rom each becomes a jeev which vibrates har nam so your naa, abihaas increases exponentially as you progress...if you damage them then they cannot help you

    Veer ji, there are plenty of Amritdhari African descent sikhs which have coped with kesh question , use the right oils and conditioning products and it will be OK

    to straighten your hair permanently you need to destroy the strength of the protein bonds in it , so this is willfully harming your kesh ...I think Guru ji would not be down with that... however if you are using gels , sprays with hot air for a temporary straightening the hair is not harmed in the same way so I think that would be preferable to the other method however best would be to accept your kesh as is.

    Agreed this is drug gangs turning the cities of Canada into the wild west. The shame of it is when arrested they will parade their 'sikhness' in the form of their names and invite politicians to tar the Sikhs as a troublemaking immigrant group .

    Thanks Siran Bhenji I'm currently trialling StayStrong hair range from l'oreal it is very good no Sulphates to irritate scalp whilst strengthening hair , the conditioner is a bit minty so puts a refreshing feel to the head . looking for a good combo to use daily without making my scalp sore ...anything anybody else tried that's worth a mention...usually I shell out for litre bottles of Aveda products for family's kesh
