  1. It's a very personal thing fella, more credit to you and your character that your willing to be there for them, when something like this happens in a family people always come out of the woodwork with their "advice", as hard as it may be, you have to maintain your composure and not give in and give them the reaction they are looking for.
  2. It's an interesting subject, one that people just brush under the carpet (as is the way with most things when someone passes away in our community). My wife's mother passed away recently and my wife doesn't want to stay in touch with her Nanke, she say's that if my "mum's not here then what's the point of me keeping up my relationship with them, I was related to them through her." I find the whole thing ridiculous, we put a lot of time and effort into building up relationships and maintaining them, to throw them away just because the person that links you to them has gone just seems wrong and speaks more about your character as a human being than anything else. Personally, I would stay in touch, grief is a strange thing, the more we support each other through it the better, her family probably need you around to process their grief and vice versa, ignore what society say's, that's the only way we'll get rid of these inane traditions.
  3. They are, my point being, if they apologies then they will have provide financial remuneration for every single atrocity they committed.
  4. When David Cameron visited there a few years back he stopped short of an official apology, stating it would be wrong to "reach back into history" and apologies for the wrongs of British colonialism, he called it a "deeply shameful event". The British government will never apologies for it nor will they say sorry for the many other atrocities commented by them during the day's of Empire, the moment they do they will be liable for it and reparations will have to be paid.
  5. Do they become celebrities because of their sainthood or become saints because they are celebrities?
  6. If you don't see what the issue is from this one sentence then your too far gone mate.
  7. Completely agree fella, i sometimes wish i lived under a rock in blissful ignorance of all of this kind of stuff, but hey, not the case, we live in a messed up world, just trying not to get messed up with it is the test.
  8. Can't say i remember, but like i've already mentioned, to go and get someone killed for an alleged incident is a bit extreme, that's some Bollywood level stuff. I've read in in passing, it's aimed more at the grooming of females from the Sikh community, the part you've posted say's as much, if he did do that to her he should have been locked up, simple as, but as i've already said, she didn't say a thing until she was arrested (as far as i can remember).
  9. I'd assume the dogs were kept for hunting, as much as i love these painting one has to keep in mind that these go back to the time of Maharaja Ranjit Singh so i'd assume you'd have to have a little leeway as to what's real or not.
  10. No idea, I think it came up during the trial but the judge rejected it, and if he did, getting him killed and then burning the body in the boot of a car really isn't the answer, she should have gone to the police and pursued it that way, it's already been mentioned on here that she made the claim after being arrested.
  11. The simple truth is there is no answer, i don't really want to de-rail this thread so i'll keep this as short as possible, mt wife lost her mother to Cancer just under 2 years ago, it devastated her and her family, her mum was not Amritdhari but was attached to Sikhi in a way i've never seen. she was diagnosed, went through treatments but then just gave up, it was all to much for her. My children ask me all the time "Why did Waheguru take out Nanni away from us", "there's bad people in the world and they are still alive", to this day it don't have a simple answer for them, they are too young to understand the philosophical thinking behind it all, i really thing we are all too young to understand why, i really am sorry for your loss fella, from reading the comments you made i think i remember when and what happened to your wife. There's on thing i've learnt in life, the universe takes car of everything, it's a difficult thing to accept, the case of this woman and what she did, it'll come back to her, if not directly, it will by some other means.
  12. I remember it pretty well, it was some pretty messed up stuff, if the gut had assaulted her i any way, that was some messed up way of getting her own back, she should have just gone to the police and let them deal with it. Her sentence just shows what a joke the legal system in this country has become, and as for the guy who married her, if he thinks it won't come back and bite him in the rear when he's climbing the political ladder then he's in for a shock. More info here if anyone want's to read up on the case: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17027513 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17202157 https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/9412116.Housemate_of_body_in_boot_murder_suspect__didn_t_feel_safe_in_own_home_/
  13. I'm really lost for words, you can't make this stuff up, that dude best watch his back.
  14. Us brown folk do have a slight advantage over other's, our names tend to give away our religion (in most cases), either way, unless their beliefs or faith will directly impact you in some negative way there's really no reason to ask, i have a good friend I've known for over 20 years, i only found out recently he's an atheist, it never really crossed my mind to ask him his religion.
  15. The fact that his now wife was at his wedding with Amrita Singh and he called her "beta" say's everything you need to know about bollywood, people like that live in different world.
  16. Mothering Syndrome mate, that and already mentioned, she's probably trying to fatten you up, enjoy it while it lasts fella.
  17. I have no sympathy with criminals, they make their bed and lay in it, in the same way i have very little tolerance for readers of the Daily Mail. I don't blame the media, i just choose to not believe the narrative they spit out all the time, especially papers like the one your so fond of linking articles to all the time. Black man instead of Indian, nah boy, i'm not Indian, that country ain't done nothing for me, Punjabi yes. Steet cred for what, killing someones father, grow up son, and thanks for calling me a youth, it's been a long time since someone called me that. Look, you wan't to sit behind a keyboard and criticise everything that goes on in the world, i come from a generation where you would talk face to face and sort stuff out, not be a closet racist on the internet, oh how the times have changed.
  18. Indeed, we just have a huge problem with alcohol in our community, there was a generation of Punjabi men who were notorious for getting drunk and beating there wives, every community has there own issues, we should focus on ours first.
  19. Yeah, it's a fact, in the same respect i know plenty of Punjabi's that have a chip on their shoulder, hatred/jealousy isn't limited to one community, that's also a fact. I'm originally from the Midlands but have lived all over, including our lovely capital. Like i said, do your research, the black youth have the same mentality everywhere, they want a short cut to making money, i grew up in an area where two on the most prominent and violent black gangs ran things in Birmingham, it's not limited to "London". Like I've already said, there are plenty of youth and middle aged men from the Punjabi community with the same issues if not worse. You seem to pick on particular communities all the time, we have enough issues in our own community (not just UK, crime in the Punjabi community in Canada is at an all time high but i'm sure there are people on here from those parts who know better) to deal with, maybe post up some stuff(if you haven't already) about what our lot get up to.
  20. Statistically speaking most crime committed by the black community is against there own community, saying it's due to jealousy and hatred for other communities is naive at best and to say they have serious issues due to their skin colour is just plain old fashioned racism. What you've stated is a huge generalisation, go and do your research instead of believing the narrative fed to you by the media (especially gutter press like the Daily Mail), we have no idea about the background of what happened on that train, what we do know is someone died while his son watched. The Black community has many problems, the same as any other community, do your research fella.
  21. I'll just leave this here, a video by the OP on the very same subject.
  22. Whatever my personal feeling about Amritdhari marrying a non-Amritdhari this sounds like some grade A bull, he should just be honest and say that he likes/loves a girl who isn't Amritdhari and wants to marry her instead of coming out with excuses, If your an Amridhari girl you keep doing what your doing, the world is full of excuses.
  23. Really, this is what it's come to, a Amritdhari marrying an non-amritdhari (but happens to be from a Sikh family) and you want to protest, surely there are more important things to protest about.
  24. The only one i know of that's played a fair amount at funerals is this one.
