Labor leader Anthony Albanese to become Australia's next Prime Minister, networks report
By Hilary Whiteman, CNNUpdated 8:29 AM EDT, Sat May 21, 2022Brisbane(CNN)Australian Labor Party leader Anthony Albanese is set to become the country's next Prime Minister after voters turned their backs on Liberal leader Scott Morrison after just one term in office, according to projections from three news networks.
Albanese appeared certain to form a minority government, though it was unclear as counting continued if the party would have enough seats for a majority, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, 7 News and Sky News Australia reported.
Most Sikhs probably prefer him over former PM Morrison.

I don't understand why Panjabis/Sikhs risk their lives to go to these countries. I know Panjab has its issues but its definitely better than these places.
In 2014, 27 Panjabis were killed in Iraq! They went there for "employment opportunities".

Some recent news regarding fertility rates
Total Fertility Rate Falls In All Communities, Steepest Decline Among Muslims:
NFHS Data Writer: Shashwat Swaroop Garg India, 10 May 2022 10:18 PM
In the new NFHS report, the overall fertility rate of India has fallen below the replacement level of two children per woman.
Data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows that the country's overall fertility rate has declined. The Muslim community is said to have the steepest decline out of all the religious communities over the past two decades. The Muslim community's fertility rate declined from 2.6 in 2015-2016 to 2.3 in 2019-2021.While, all the communities have shown a noticeable decline in their fertility rates, which in turn contributes to a drop in the total fertility rate of the country, the decline has been the steepest in the Muslim community, going from 4.4 in NFHS 1 (1992-93) to 2.3 in NFHS 5 (2019-21).
The fertility rate of the Muslim community is the highest among all religious communities. The Muslim community has faced two accelerated declines in the community fertility rate. The first decline occurred between 1992-93 and 1998-99, while the second decline occurred between 2005-06 and 2015-16, when the rate dropped by 0.8 points.
In a data report by The Indian Express, the current fertility rates of the religious communities in NFHS 5 are as follows: The Muslim Community has a fertility rate of 2.3, with the Hindu community following at 1.94 in NFHS 5. The Christian community has a fertility rate of 1.88, the Sikh community at 1.61, the Jain community at 1.6 and the Buddhist and neo-Buddhist community at 1.39—the lowest rate in the country.
Fertility Gap Between Two Communities
Poonam Muttreja, who is the Executive Director of the Population Foundation of India, an NGO, said, "The fertility gap between Hindus and Muslims is narrowing. High fertility is mostly a result of non-religious factors such as levels of literacy, employment, income and access to health services. The current gap between the two communities is because of Muslims' disadvantage on these parameters." She further said that over the past few decades, an emerging Muslim middle class has been realising the value of girls' education and family planning.

Pakistani Panjabi film industry is so much worse than the east Panjab with rampant vulgarity in lyrics and costume. Even Pakistanis called out directors for the vulgar content in their films and told them to follow good east ones.
Caste based titles for films were first popular in Pakistan such as Gujjar Badmash, Ziddi Rajput, Maula Jatt etc. The east Panjab film industry also began copying elements of Pakistani films such as these titles.

In love with a Pakistan girl,Punjabi student commits suicide in Canada
September 25, 2020 - PatialaPolitics
A 21-year old Punjab student, Amrinder Singh, has committed suicide in Surrey, Canada due to mental stress.
He was the only son of his parents living in Punjab. His father Malkit Singh is an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police in Punjab.
A baptised Sikh and a student of Douglas College, New Westminister, Amrinder had gone to Canada in the year 2017 on a Study Visa.
Malkit Singh told media persons that in November 2019 his son had again asked for Rs.20 lakh which was sent to him.
It has been learnt that he came into contact with a Pakistani girl, a resident of Karachi and was allegedly sending gifts and cash to her.
According to his friends in Surrey, he had run out of money and was not able to pay his college dues landing him into huge stress which led him to take the extreme step.
Amrinder’s parents have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to bring their son’s body back from Canada. Arrangements were also being made to send the body back to Punjab with the help of community members in Canada.

Will try and dig those out for you Singh. I believe the explanation to be that on that occasion Akali Phula Singh actually caught Ranjit Singh drinking,
1. Yes. Anand Karaj always meant that regardless of erstwhile faith that those joined in holy matrimony thereafter became Sikh. Thus during the 1881-1941 period when the Sikh population almost doubled (following steep declines after annexation by the British Empire) that many couples who were both Hindu (bride and groom) and both Muslim (bride and groom) became new Sikhs as Anand Karaj was a free blessing that poor people were given which Mandir's and Mosques denied to the poor and socially ostracised.
2. No! Absolutely not! That is another urban myth cooked up by the enemies of the Sikh Panth who want to see 13,000 fully operational Mosques in each and every village of Punjab. What's more ridiculous is that these enemies of the Sikh Panth have gone above and beyond the lie that Ranjit Singh built mosques and mandirs to even stating that Guru Sahib built a Mosque and Muhammad Izhar Alam even promoted this depraved lie in cahoots with neo-Nihangs a few years back.
Thank you for replying. I got a few more questions
1. That Masjid built for Moran still exists, how do we know it's a myth and Maharaja Ranjit Singh didn't get it built?
The Maharaja at Moran's request, built a mosque called as Masjid-e-Tawaifan, which was renamed in 1998 as Mai Moran Masjid in Lahore. This is located in Lahore's bazaar now called Pappar Mandi near Shah Almi Gate.
2. Why did some of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's Hindu wives commit Sati upon his death if they became Sikh through marriage?
Eyewitness record of Maharaja Ranjit Singhs personal physician

1. He was whipped for drinking alcohol and not on account of the urban myth promoted by Mullah's that it was because of erstwhile birth religion of his (Sikh) wife Moran Kaur.
2. It's am urban myth cooked up by Mullahs (yet imbibed by our own without critical analysis) designed to prevent Sikh males from taking wives from the majority Punjabi community and thus increasing the strength of Sikh demographics in Ranjit Singh's raj (which would have left many Muslim men childless as a result and possibly prevented the partition of Punjab over a century later). Think about it logically why would Guru Sahib prevent Sikh men from California from marrying from one of a pool of one billion (Muslim) women today so long as via Anand Karaj (with the bride accepting Sikhi by default via the puratan definition that anyone bowing down before Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj) and the children being raised Sikh. We know from history that the Khalsa Fauj married many of the rescued Hindu and Muslim slavegirls that were being abused and mistreated by Muslim men.
3. His alcohol intake and debauchery were exactly what caused him to be whipped.
1. Sikh faith does not arise from birth or parentage but via conviction as we see in the example of Bhai Mardana Ji the first Sikh in History (who was an apostate from Islam as we see when Wali Qandhari tried to murder Bhai Mardana Ji and Guru Sahib for that very reason).
2. Agreed
Did Moran adopt Sikhi after marriage to Maharaja Ranjit Singh? Did Maharaja Ranjit Singh build a Masjid (Masjid-e-Tawaifan) for her before their marriage or after?
Deeply spiritual, Moran had a spiritual guide called Mian Jaan Mohammad of Laverian, who told her that a madrasa would benefit more people than a masjid. Manveen describes how Moran was instrumental in setting up a school for Persian and Arabic studies for students who would be spared the trouble of travelling all the way to Persia.

Dubai-based NGO offers AAP govt to facilitate FDI into Punjab
Yudhvir Rana / TNN / Apr 19, 2022, 12:03 IST
AMRITSAR: A Dubai-based industrialist has offered the Punjab govt for facilitating foreign direct investment (FDI) into the state especially from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to set up industries and create job opportunities for the Punjabi youth who spend lakhs of rupees and often fall prey to the dubious agents for getting their dream jobs.
Joginder Singh Salaria, founder of Dubai-based PCT Humanity (Pehal Charitable Trust-Humanity) informed that he felt pity on seeing the struggle of parents of Punjabi youth who did everything in their hands including selling their houses, liquidating their fixed deposits, and even borrowing money on huge interests, only to send their children to UAE for their dream jobs.
Claiming that PCT-Humanity helps on an average a thousand Punjabi youth in getting jobs in UAE every year, Joginder said “The first priority of the Punjabi youth is to move to Canada, Australia, US, UK or in the European nations for which their parents shell out anything around Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh and those who can’t afford they prefer to spend anything around Rs 1.5 to Rs 2 lakh for a job in UAE” .
He said there were several examples of Punjabi educated youth doing manual jobs after failing to get jobs in European destinations. “Many of such youth are here working as masons, plumbers, fitters, etc.” he added....

I'm interested in those South Indian states, why they got a high population of incest?
Marriages between cousins, maternal uncles and nieces are prevalent in some south Indian communities.
Some theories to explain the practice
Historian MG Sasibhooshan suggests several possibilities, considering the social situation of ancient times. “Elamkulam Kunjan Pillai (late historian and academic) suggested a theory that such marriages could have evolved in primitive societies when men mostly went to war and found it difficult to find alliances from circles beyond the immediate family. The practice was followed by Hindus and Muslims, by people in Tamil Nadu and even in Sri Lanka,” Sasibhooshan says.
He puts forth another theory: Kerala was made of really small kingdoms once upon a time, each fighting one another and possibly not wishing to have marriage alliances with each other. This possibly limited the choice of finding a partner to immediate family circles.
“Yet another possibility is that in the old days, people would not look for marriage alliances beyond a certain river that functioned as a sort of physical boundary. Take Korapuzha river in Kerala’s northern district of Kozhikode, for example. Families considered it beneath their dignity to form any relationship with members south of the river. But, there were rule-breakers, like VK Krishna Menon’s (late Indian politician and ally to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru) father Krishna Kurup, whose marriage to a woman in the south of Malabar was something of a rebellion back in the 19th century,” Sashibhooshan says.
Why such marriages declined over years
Over the years, the practise of marrying cousins declined drastically, says Sashibooshan. It could perhaps have links to the many studies revealing that marriage between blood relations can cause health problems and genetic disorders in the offspring.
A 2013 story in The Hindu mentions a detailed study involving 11,000 children from consanguineous marriages. The revealed congenital anomalies in 386 such children. This was double the number of children with anomalies born to parents who were not related by blood. Kerala, with its literacy rate increasing through the decades, very possibly took these studies seriously while considering marriages with cousins.
It is still not completely absent and even among newer generations, there are willing cousins marrying each other, as a practice handed down through generations.

Two Sikh Men Attacked Tuesday in Same Richmond Hill Spot Where Sikh Elder Was Assaulted Last Week
April 12, 2022 By Allie Griffin
Two Sikh men were assaulted in Richmond Hill Tuesday morning in the same location where a 70-year-old Sikh man was assaulted just over a week ago, according to residents and social media footage.
The men were reportedly attacked near the corner of Lefferts Boulevard and 95th Avenue — the same spot where the 70-year-old was punched in the face by a stranger on April 3.
Local community members shared details of today’s assault on Instagram. The NYPD, however, was unable to confirm the assault by the time of publication.
Sikh community leaders in Richmond Hill condemned the assault and called it an act of hatred.
“This is the exact fear we had when this happened last week,” Japneet Singh, local community leader and a candidate for State Senate, wrote on Instagram. “Same location, same intersection, same act of HATE.’
Singh posted a video showing the apparent aftermath of the assault. One man can be seen holding his eye and another is sitting on the sidewalk surrounded by police officers and firefighters.
The two men were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment and are in good spirits, according to Singh.
Singh said the Sikh community — many of whom call Richmond Hill home — is being targeted and called on state and city leaders to address the issue.
“This is disgusting behavior, and it’s clear the Sikh community is being deliberately targeted,” he wrote. “Calling on @govkathyhochul @nycspeakeradams @nycmayor @queensdakatz to address this ASAP!’
Police are investigating the assault last week as a hate crime and have released photos of the suspect in that case. It’s unclear if the same person is responsible for both attacks.
One person has been arrested in connection to Tuesday’s attack, Singh said.

Sydney man calls for wife to be deported from Australia back to India
A Sydney man said he wants his wife deported back to India after their marriage unravelled.
Kanwal and Naina were introduced a few years ago and broke up this year.
Naina said she wants the dowry her family paid for their marriage to be returned.
"All I want, give me back whatever my parents paid in this wedding and whatever my parents gave you, just give me back," Naina said.
Kanwal claims his wife's demands are what initially caused some friction.
But he said things got worse after Naina received permanent residency in Australia, claiming he received a difficult call from one of his wife's relatives while they were visiting India.
Kanwal's wife Niana. (A Current Affair)"Saying I'm impotent and I'm not keeping Naina happy and he's going to file a case against me. I was shocked I was absolutely shocked," Kanwal told A Current Affair.
"I can tell you I'm not impotent."
With impotency a valid excuse for divorce in India, Naina filed a complaint against her husband with the Punjab Police.
Naina and husband Kanwal. (A Current Affair)The complaint included demand for Kanwal to repay the wedding dowry.
But Kanwal didn't stay in India to face the police.
Instead, he flew to Sydney to visit a doctor who gave him a note confirming he had no physical issues.
Kanwal's dowry dossier includes demands from an Indian police officer to pay compensation.
Kanwal and Naina were introduced a few years ago and broke up this year. (A Current Affair)Kanwal was sceptical about the demands he received via email but Indian police confirmed to Kanwal that Naina's complaint is official.
Now his family say they fear if they don't front up to face the allegations, they could lose their family home in India in order to pay the compensation.
Naina is now back in Australia and living in Melbourne.
https://www.desiblitz.com/content/australian-indian-man-wants-wife-deported-back-to-india
She also revealed that her nickname for Kanwal was “honey”, even having it tattooed on her hand. This is something Naina wants to remove.
Kanwal claimed that his estranged wife used him.
He said: “She has broken my trust, my family’s trust and she’s just used me as a guinea pig just to get what she wanted.”
Meanwhile, Naina alleged that she was the one being used, saying:
“He had planned and plotted to dump me, to use me and to take money from my parents, that was his plotting, not mine.”
Kanwal went on to reveal that their wedding photo is now kept in the wardrobe.
Naina explained that one reason for their marriage declining was a lack of physical intimacy.
She added that her love for him had been genuine.
Kanwal said: “I went against my family to get married to Naina because I loved her.”
According to the report, the decline in their marriage turned nasty, with Kanwal stating that he does not love her anymore, adding:
“I don’t think anybody would.”
Both want the marriage to end but Kanwal wants Naina out of Australia.
He elaborated: “I don’t think any person of this mentality deserves to be an Australian citizen, this is against Australian values.”
It is believed they are disputing over dowry, with Naina revealing that her parents spent a lot of money on the wedding.

Widespread Condemnation, Outrage After Hindu Teenager's Murder in Pakistan
Pooja Kumari (18) was murdered allegedly by a Muslim man in Pakistan’s Sindh Province for refusing to marry him.
New Delhi: A teenage Hindu woman was murdered allegedly by a Muslim man in Pakistan’s Sindh Province for refusing to marry him, triggering considerable outrage and condemnation on social media from that country’s top opposition leaders and activists.
The woman, Pooja Kumari (18), was a resident of Ghotki city in the Shukkur region of Sindh. According to a report in Dawn, quoting Sukkur Station House Officer Bashir Jagirani, the suspect identified as Wahid Bux Lashari, along with two other accused, “broke into Pooja Kumari’s house and opened fire on her.” It said, “Officials said Lashari wanted to marry the teenager but she refused.”
A March 22 report in the Express Tribune said the police nabbed Lashari after it registered an FIR based on the woman’s father Sahib Oad’s complaint under Section 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), Section 302 (punishment for murder) and 337H –II (punishment for hurt by rash or negligent act) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
“The law enforcement agency apprehended the main accused today and produced him in a local court, which remanded him into its custody for 10 days,” it said.
A Daily Pakistan report said the girl died on the spot. According to the newspaper, “Reports said that the accused, identified as Wahid Bux Lashari, wanted to marry Pooja Kumari, 18, after converting her to Islam.” He had allegedly entered her house to abduct her but shot at her fatally for resisting him. It said the her relatives “have staged protest on a road against the brutal murder and demanded stern action against the accused”.
On March 22, with the spread of the news about the murder of the 18 year old, extensive condemnation and outrage appeared on social media, with #JusticeforPooja trending on Twitter.
Well-known activist Jibran Nasir took to Twitter to state, “Doors to forced conversion of minor girls are open because child marriages are facilitated by corrupt and ignorant [officials].”
Ziauddin, father of Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, was also spotted tweeting on the crime. “This is disgusting. Heinous crime indeed. We all must speak up to demand justice for the bravest Pooja Kumari.”
As per Dawn, the chief opposition Pakistan People’s Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari issued a statement condemning the killing of the Hindu woman, appreciating the Sindh Police for “expeditious arrests” of all the suspects in the case. “In the statement, Bilawal said the relevant authorities should make sure that the culprits were meted out stringent punishments.”
Shehbaz Sharif, the president of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), tweeted, “The brutal murder of Hindu girl, Pooja Kumari, is most heinous & condemnable. Such heart-rending incidents represent our collective failure & put our whole society to shame. No girl deserves to go through this. High time we thought why we continue to hit lows one after the other.”
Reports highlighted that “former MQM leader Raza Haroon was among those who demanded justice for the slain girl”.

The interesting aspect of this whole issue is the AAP supporters are no different from the Andhbhagats because until there was proof presented that the pictures were of different parts of the room, the AAP supporters were responding with <banned word filter activated>,ic statements like " so what, what did Badals or Captain do even if they had the picture of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in their offices"!
It's bad to blindly support any party when we're aware none will work towards our interests.
