  1. I used to think whats the point of all this 'religious' stuff, and think that they were all pretty much the same. Infact, I was an atheist. the idea of God sitting on some lil chair and controllin the world never made sence, and ontop of that, why would we have to praise him? wouldnt that make him selfish and egotistical? the concept never made sence. untill..i began to understood a lil more bout sikhi. I realised after that i had known nothing about sikhi. I'm not trying to infer that you dont know much about sikhi, well perhaps i am, because if you did know what sikhi was really about, the 'dont wana be a sikh' would never come to mind. Please dont get sikhi confused with religion, its a dharma, a way of life, truth. Sikhi is a beautiful journey of self-discovery, realising your true nature, that we are all one - one energy, one being, that we are God itself. Take a glance at our rich history - Brahmgyaani Baba Deep Singh ji, who fought with his HEAD IN HIS HAND - VAH! not many people can do that. you know WHY he was able to do that? cos he was ONE with everything, through kamai and understanding and submission to Bani. Paji, sikhi is a jewel, PLEASE, benti from you sister, before you decide to 'give it up', put it under a magnifying glass and see how beatiful it is, once you realise its beauty, you wont ever want to look away. aap pashhaanai th eaekai jaana - know/understand yourself, then you will know THE one. I aplogise if i confused you even more, or offended you.
  2. In terms of Maharaj, Sikhi, like most eastern paths, looks within..islam looks outwards.... for islam, God is like a third person, as in he is not a part of evrything, he is seperate from his creation... but for sikhi, we and God are one. all one energy Thats a BIG differnce.

  4. what can a kirpan do against a gun?
  5. I've always thought as Jamdoot in a metephorical sence, like if you do Bani, your more likely to hav a peaceful and 'braver' feeling at the time of death, cos you'll possess the mentality of 'its all in the will, it was guna happen, yesss i feel free'. However if you dont do much Bani, then you are more likely to be 'ahh craapp whats going on man' cos you'd be more materialstic and maya-fied. So the feeling of 'ahh craap whats going on' could be symbolised by jamdhoots, they're scaryness represents your emotions. I duno.
  6. Jus thinkin, what is the defintion of the Love, as in, mmm, cant explain what i mean, ahh language is so limiting, but anyway, whats this love thing all about? Cant really describe it i guess, anything i say would just be an expression of it, its an experince really..but like..what is it...WHAT is IT? I dont think I make sence, but I hope I do. Interesting to see some defintions.
  7. So once we are humanitarians in your opinion is that when we have stopped the circle of rebirth? I believe its a step in the right direction... Sikhi is LIFE. If you cant be good humans primarily, tuhaadaa naam japiya bhi kuch nahi kamm auhna... I see so you belive that one can be a good person without the recitation of Naam, i wonder do you belive in the 5 choor A good person is only one who recites naam? Hmm... interesting opinion... i dont know, i meet a lot of people in my day to day life, when im out and about, who i would class as good people, good "humans", as it were. They are not "religious" ... so that makes them bad? From the heart, they are well mannered, good intentions, genuine people... cant really call them bad, if im honest. The panj choor are illusions to me. Its Kaljug whipping you on your backside for you to wake up and realise the existence of Satguru Jee... so the answer to your question "do i believe in the 5 choor?"... is that i dont believe in anything except that my Guru exists and that i must realise that before i can reach His embrace. Everything else is just an illusion... Maybe its not that everything is an illusion and fake, but instead that our relationship with everything is illusional and fake.
  8. "QUOTE(Mindless @ Mar 6 2007, 08:17 AM) WHY does the fact that they are not 'attractive' have anything to do with it. Who are 'we' to judge who is 'attractive' and who is not. Penji, i do not mean to offend, but if they are not accepting you cos of your dastaar, you are basically following exactly what they are doing, by not accepting singhs cos of the way they look, cos they appear to be 'unattracitive' IVERYONE is BEAUTIFUL, everything is a part of the force, Infact people in KHALSA roop, are REALLY BEAUTIFUL, even if they're an amritdhari cyclopse with no legs. However, what you are suggesting in your post, seems to be hypocritical. I am really sorry if i offended you, that was not my intension. and i'm really sorry if i misunderstood and misjudged by what you meant by your post, i'm stupid. I really hate to say this but for some reason i feel i have to, dont know why. This is to 'mindless', if you were to have the chance to marry a singh/singhni who is so badly chardhikalaa but has the worst looks ever, do you really think you would marry them? seriously, ask yourself, unless your a proper chardhikalaa person yourself then obviously you wouldn't care what the person looks like, but would you marry someone who has everything spiritually except for the looks? Its easy to say this, that it's not about the looks, but it's very very hard when your in this position yourself... Forgive me if i have offended you or anyone else, this isn't an attack on you 'mindless', just wanted you to think about yourself first, if u get what i'm tryin to say. BHUL CHUK MAAF KARNA. Vaaheguroo " I agree man, I am not very chardi kala, and I probably could not do it. You have a good point. I think I just expect too much from a Khalsa. Are they not meant to be beyond all of this? Or atleast trying to be.

    Kaam

um, well i listened to this really good katha a few days back, and the singh explained that if you keep your mind as busy as possible with bani, any, you wont have time to think about anything else. continously, anytime, plug in an ipod in with bani maybe, or just recite some when u get the feelings, jus keep your mind REALLY busy, and you wont have the time to waver. BANI BANI BANII...it doesnt just stop with nitnem. and there is also a sankat mochan Gutka sahib which i have heard have, having numerous shabads for differnt things, i've never handled that bani, so i dont know any details, just the faint name popped up hope that helps, and i know everyone says do ardaas, take a hukamnama, e.c.t e.c.t, but sometimes i really dont think we know the tru power of ardaas, if done with proper sharda and pyaar, and if you follow the hukamnama to the T, your problem will be sorted in no time, just gota trust it. bul chuk maaf, i'm jus another wanabe.
  12. lol, penji, i'll be your penji friend! pm me or something, if ure based in the uk, that'd be great, and we can hook u up with the other singhneeyaa
  13. Sun and moon orbit Sikhism tells us that the sun and moon do orbits cMdu sUrju duie iPrdy rKIAih inhclu hovY Qwau ] cha(n)dh sooraj dhue firadhae rakheeahi nihachal hovai thhaao || and the growing grass became sweet rice; if I were able to stop the sun and the moon in their orbits and hold them perfectly steady BI qUMhY swlwhxw AwKx lhY n cwau ]2] bhee thoo(n)hai saalaahanaa aakhan lehai n chaao ||2|| -even then, I would worship and adore You, and my longing to chant Your Praises would not decrease. ||2|| Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji ang 142 but paji, the sun does not do an orbit...i do not understand this quote, i might have interpreted it wrong, mafi ji
  14. ooo and if it was all so happy dappy, no-one wourld really be looking for happiness, and they wouldnt really appreciate it as much cos they wouldnt know the feeling of suffering, and well, there wouldnt be much point of living if there wasnt a goal. Not much competition, and so not much advancment, cos everyone would be so satisfied. everything fits in so cleverly like a jigsaw. The world is perfect man.
  15. Pajiiii, where do i get it from?.. i've onli seen the punjabi version, any in english..? or maybe i have a differnt book in mind. thanks oh yeh, the matrix, its well well well good, well well wellllll waaaay reaaly good.
  16. oooh thanks paaj, how about any 'physics related" stuff, to do with atoms and cool stuff like that...
  17. Fateh Ji I've realised recently, that Sikhi works along science alot. Could someone please explain to me any scientific reasons for taking Amrit. Apart from the fact its submitting yourself to Guru Ji, what are the practical logical aspects of it, like wearing a Dastaar is meant to keep in that spiritual energy around the head, and keep it concentrated, also protects the most important part of you body, keeps hair clean e.c.t What about Amrit? Its important I understand..But Why...?
  18. MY POOR PENJI'S. THAT IS INHUMANE. WHERE IS THE LOVE IN THESE PEOPLE?!!??
