The reservations were meant to expire at some point in the future but the govt knows there would be riots if it ever got rid of reservations. They only way would be give every caste reservations based on it's population percentage. That way it would make it a lot fairer.

Dalsingh, I see you take the word of a few homeless guys saying they own so and so acres of land in Punjab and yet you don't see contradiction that they only need to contact back home and an acre of land sold off would get them about £20k. If there is not the political will to prosecute the people at the top then the Sikh orgs should aim to get the lower rungs prosecuted. There are literally hundreds of former Punjab police officials who after murdering innocent people in fake encounters retired and settled in the US and Canada. This is more to do with the fact Punjabis are probably the only people who cannot get political asylum in the UK. Tamils,Somalis, Kurds, Afghanis (including Afghani Sikhs) etc only have to land in the UK and they can apply for political asylum. Even if they get refused which is not very often they can still extend their stay by constantly appealing and some cases can take 5-7 years in total. By that time they can have got married and had kids and then they can apply on compassionate grounds! During the time that their cases are being assesed they are entitled to benefits including rent being paid for them. In majority of cases they will get accepted for political asylum and live off the state for the rest of their lives, apart from the Tamils and Afghani Sikhs. This is the main reason you don't get homeless Tamils or Kurds or others. Non-Punjabi immigrants might get support from their own people but the main reason is the benefits that sustain them while they get on their feets. If Punjabis were able to get rent and benefits paid for a few years they too would be able to make a go and you wouldn't see any Punjabi homeless in the streets. I had to laugh ate the anecdotes of the 'rich' illegals that some people are discussing here. People like to tell 'guppan' so there may be some guys on Dalsingh's building site who try and big themselves up as if they have 20 acres in Punjab but the truth is that for most the immigrant dream is the only dream they can pursue. These guys probably belong to poor farmer families where the daughter has to be married off by selling half an acre, one son eaks a living on a few acres along with taking a few more acres on hefty maamla or theka and one son goes abroad on the money of another acre sold off. This is how it has always was even in my grandparents time. The only difference being that not many people went abroad but there were job opportunities for one or two of the sons of each family to get into the Army or a government job like teaching or revenue work. Two or more of the sons would farm and the family income would be supplemented by the pay from sons in the army or other jobs. These are all shut off to people from a farming background even who have worked their backsides off studying. The only avenue available is to go abroad. There may be some who are after a good time although I doubt that, most just have a dream to make it big outside Punjab where we all know the Indian system have turned the state into a mess. It is only the unavailablity of jobs due to the recession and lately a government clampdown on employers employing illegals (£10,000 fine for each illegal caught) that has led to the homelessness epidemic. There are nowadays daily raids on big businesses in Southall by the border agency trying to catch illegal workers. Most of the goray in the Border agency are racists ar*eholes and the Asians working with them are self hating idiots who delight in trying to impress their goray bosses. It wouldn't surprise me if Dalsingh didn't go straight from his building site on being a uniformed cgumcha working for Cameron's kuttay. If the Border agency backed off for a few months and turned a blind eye most of the illegals would be able to get jobs and get off the streets. I think the truth lies somewhere in between what WLS and HSD2 wrote. In a sense the people who came over in the 50s and 60s were probably more greedy if that's the right word to better themselves when the situation in Punjab was much better than it is now. Agriculture was on the up, land holdings hadn't become uneconomic and government jobs including the army were still there to be had. Compare this with now, no hope of a government job even in the police or the army for Jats. Land holdings have been made uneconomic due to high rate of mamla or theka. HSD2 is right about the UK. It's pretty much a lost cause especially since the Muslims are now close to 5% of the population. Most of Europe has gone the same way, the UK's hope is that a significant number of white Eastern Europeans settle here and as well as paying taxes to fund the benefits of the chavs /Paks and the pensions of the oldies their high birth rate will also negate the rise in the number of Muslims. Being nearly 5% the Muslims will now really start to push their agenda in earnest with the threat that if the country doesn't accept their shyt then there's plenty of Muslim youth that may become radicalised if they don't see the majority bending to the will of the minority. They've drained the country's treasury dry like no other people have and Sikhs will probably need to consider whether they still want to be contributing their hand earned money to a country that seems to think that paying for Islamic road shows and bogus exhibitions about the 'contribution' of Islam to the world is a country worth staying in. Probably the only option left for the Sikhs who have the skills and means is emigration to US/Canada or Australia/NZ. This what most of the ambitious goray are doing.

After the Delhi Police beat up the protesters, one was interviewed and he was outraged that the Police had beaten him and his fellow protesters, "WE ARE NOT MILITANTS, WE ARE PROTESTERS!" He shouted out. If a Sikh or Muslim protests then he is automatically a Militant and thus the police has every right to beat him up. Neo You might think that it's insensitive to bring out the way the justice system has treated two events 28 years apart but your logic as usual is extremely faulty. It is not to belittle what happened to the girl but to show those protesting that if they feel Delhi streets are unsafe for them then maybe they should have ensured that they didn't vote for the Congress murderers in each and every election. If you put those who led the murderers in Delhi in 1984 into ministerships then don't expect your city to be a haven of peace. You might not see the hypocrisy of the Indian media and the protesters when they protest for justice when they know full well that the rapists will receive a summary trial. Get your facts straight! I wrote that those protesters never protested when Sikh women were raped and Sikhs murdered in Delhi in 1984. They never protest when rapes ten times worst are committed in the slum areas of India. They are only protesting because one of their middle class girls have been raped and now they demand 'justice' and feel that the streets of Delhi are unsafe for them! They didn't feel the streets were unsafe when Sikhs had burning tyres placed around their necks.
