  1. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Meh. Sounds like a lot of taking God's name in vain rather than praying. haha Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  2. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! The reason why it always seems like little rumors in the background if someone talks to someone of the other gender is because we are so backwards. Nothing wrong with casually talking with ANYONE... and frankly if you are thinking that there are weird relationships going on, its obviously your mind that's in the gutter :D Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  3. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I'd rather they cut their hair and run around without turbans... than go and drink with a pug on giving us all a bad name. (the point: I would prefer only good sikhs looking like sikhs than bad ones making us all look that way). Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  4. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! A different point of view: why not take something that will help you in a career? Taking Religious studies courses may be interesting (up to a point), but few jobs I know need that kind of a degree... although it would make for an interesting arts option. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! 5. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Remember the context with which this is written. At the time and place, this poetry is written where people believed in many gods, angels, devils, etc. So the easiest way for those people to understand the concept of Ik Onkaar is to say that "of all the gods, devils, demons, and angels, only one God controls them all." ... so the references to Gods, angels, devis, devis, demons, etc. is all relative. For a spiritually poor man, a spiritually rich person is an angel or a God. But to another spiritually rich person, the other spiritual individual is like a brother (nearly equal). But the key is that of all that is described, Waheguroo still lies on top. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  6. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Ignore em. If they are wrong, they are wrong. Some people (family especially) won't agree to anything no matter how obvious your point is. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  7. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! This may sound a little harsh, but I believe that anything that is "Punjabi" is usually wrong. Ironically, we intermix punjabi culture and sikhi, but if you look closely, when Sikhism was founded in PUNJAB, it was based upon the facts that almost everything that people were doing at the time were basically wrong. Seti, drinking, female fetocide: all characteristics of punjabi culture, but absolutely wrong in sikhi. That said, culture in itself isn't wrong: but make sure to keep that separate from other stuff. Sikhi is a way of life... and it should take top priority over any other cultural influences. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

    Question

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! In a way you are correct. The term "Sikh" is literally "student" (learner is such a brown way of putting it). Our Gurus never discriminated against anyone, nor did they outright declare all other faiths wrong. BUT they did point out shortcomings. Religion is "organized" by definition, with leaders, rites, etc. But this is all politics effectively, and the point of Sikhi is that you don't NEED all of this to reach God. So if someone asks you what religion you are, say "I follow God's religion". That will always be true. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  9. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Rippers? What kind? CD ripper: free one in windows media player 10! if you don't have it preinstalled with WinXP, go to windows updates and download it from there. For DVD rippers, the best free one is DVD Shrink. Google it up! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  10. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I'm assuming you already have a speaker system set up right? With a laptop, or any basic MP3 recorder, just take the "line-out" from the amplifier into your laptop/computer/MP3 recorder (any will do), and record straight from the amp. That way, you don't need to get extra mics, etc. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

    My Kesh

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Wow KFI, you really have stupid things to say for EVERY post! Good for you! To guest, all that is important is that you be keeping your hair. If you don't have enough for a joora, that's OK. Just do make sure you have a kanga, and try to tie a bhag/patka the best you can. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  12. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Congrats! Hope you have fun! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  13. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Yeah, that happens. Parents always look at the younger one and think he/she's sooo innocent and stuff, but they're only blind because they just assume that everything bad must be your fault somehow haha. It'll pass. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  14. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! It just sounds like it hasn't been configured correctly. Did you install it with the CD that came with the mouse? You need to use that CD in order to install extra button functionality. Once that is done, there should be a control-panel entry for the mouse (or a special program, or something in the system-tray) that will allow you to configure each button and customize each feature. 15. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I don't have an X-box, but I'm gonna try to answer just to get back on topic. If there are options for music and photos, its possible the system doesn't have the bandwidth to allow for video streaming (since that doesn't seem to be an option). Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  16. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Wow, its pretty cool! I love the interface *cough* *mac* *cough*, and the application ideas are neat (similar to YouOS *cough*). The only thing is that although its pretty neat, it doesn't really have many applications that I would even use. I was hoping for a featured word-processor, or spreadsheet app, or SOMETHING. The most featured app I could find is eyeNAV, the web-browser!! (oh, cruel irony). Keep up the work though, its really neat! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  17. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Much respect to Pritam veerjee, but seriously, these forums should be focusing on why SIKHI IS GOOD, not why everything else is bad. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  18. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Your mindset should be it doesn't matter what others think. THEY AREN"T GETTING MARRIED! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

    Jatha

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! I agree that there are lots. But as long as you consider yourself a Sikh and Khalsa first, (and not run around and go "ya man, I'm like AKJ" to give one example) then you won't have any issues! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

    Eating Langar

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! He doesn't know jack? It seems from your reply that you don't know ANYTHING about him. Or anything about sikhi. That kind of anger is completely wrong, and not only leaves a black mark on your sorry head, but on everyone in this forum. Be a man and apologize. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  21. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Wow. A direct competitor to Google's new platform. Interesting to see how this works out. Is there a demo of the EyeOS system? I would certainly like to give it a try. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  22. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Well, until our OWN people (sikhs) stop using the caste system, why should we laud this as one of our virtues? Our gurus banned it. 80% still use it. WTH! Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  23. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Generally, I just use windows media player 10 for ripping CDs. Its as simple as turning on WMP10, insert the CD, goto the "RIP" tab, and click "Rip Tracks". You can go into the options, and select the format for ripping (MP3 or WMA), the quality of the rip, and where to save it. Once it is ripped, you can import it the way you normally do for your MP3 player. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!

    Eating Langar

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! Make sure that it IS langar (some weddings don't have langar, just "lunch" (no bhog). Then its fine to eat whereever. But if it is langar, I guess eat in the corner or something. And then don't go back to that gurdwara again. (Akal Thakt hukamnama) Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
  25. Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh! maybe I'm not understanding the question, but why don't you just (1) put the cd in the computer (2) open Itunes (since you have an IPOD) (3) click "Rip CD"? Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa! Waheguroo jee kee Fateh!
