  2. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Very knowledgable answer, JSingh! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  3. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! My opinion: its WRONG. Ardas has become commercialized... vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  4. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! From what I hear, they will remain in Canada unless someone in the States or elsewhere decides to take one home vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  5. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! All I am trying to do is show that the Guru is in the eye of the beholder. If we wish to believe that our Guru is signified by the actual words, then we should look at ourselves and see that we do not even respect Guru's word, so why should they? For them it is a book... for us, the SGGS on computer is mearly a file, one that can be written, edited, erased at our wim. I will quit this debate, but not before we all understand what kind of double standard we have applied to others. I have faith in my Guru, but I also know that my Guru exists beyond the hardcover backing, glue, paper, and ink. When will we all realize this? We think we have come soooo far. Well, interesting fact: I have a small sized Guru Granth Sahib at home (the writing is tiny), so we tried to give it to the Gurdwara. At that point I learned that the Gurdwara disposes of any SGGSs that they have extra. THEY THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE. This got me thinking... is it OK to throw your Guru in the Garbage? (NO). But are we? The Gurdwara thinks of it like any other book... why should a Christian writer think of it as anything else? If it is MORE than a book, it is because of what it contains... and in the same way, that pathetic 200 kb computer file is also MORE than just a file. It is our Guru. Just as it is on paper. One and the same. If you seriously believe that they are NOT the same, are you attempting to tell others that the paper, ink, and hardcover backing has magically transformed this irrelevant computer file into your Guru? Tha t said, I know that even I treat my Guru with no respect... and at least this post has taught me this much. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!

  8. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! there is no need to be sarcastic here... it is just that when we matha tek to something, we had better know what we are matha tak-ing to, other wise it is just a ritual... vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  9. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Well then, I ask, what is the difference? If we are meant to bow to the word of Waheguru, the compiled scriptures of our Gurus, are you saying that it makes a difference in what form they are presented? That the word of God somehow doesn't maintain its ability because it is on a computer screen instead of white-bleached pages? The Jot of our living Guru exists in wherever the word of our Guru exists. There was a forum topic earlier where one noble Singh asked if we should bow to our PDAs if we are doing path from it... and the resounding answer is YES! Why? Because we bow to the knowledge, the words, the understanding. If you think its OK to respect Guruji in paperback, but not on a screen, what are YOU bowing to? vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  10. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! um... yeah, so what does that have to do with this? Guruji told his son that he never wanted to speak to him, he never said that he wasn't going to speak to his unborn son or daughter, or that his great-great grandkids were to be punished for his mistake! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  11. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! That is a dumb thing to say. Its a gift... vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  12. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! ssk, I think you hit the point on the head. It is THE WORD OF GOD. That is what is important. The WORD. May I ask, I know that many of us have gurbani, or the entire SGGS saved on our computers at home... then does our computer become Guru when the file is open? When we play Warcraft, is it still guru, or do we not consider it Guru? I think the most fundamental part of this debate is finding out WHAT OUR GURU REALLY IS. If we think that the Guru is the written word, then our computers become as much of a Guru as the Sri Guru Granth Sahib itself. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  13. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! While I agree Guru will readily forgive this lady, it won't make any difference to Bahadar Shah himself. As shown time and time again, birth has no effect on any person. Many sons of the Gurus themselves did not become gurus... every person leads their own life, and just because one person did a good or bad deed does not mean that this will affect someone of the same bloodline! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  14. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Beautiful posts, all of them!! <> There can be only one! lol! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  15. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! It is just as important to keep our outside clean if we want to make our inside clean. That is why, for one thing, we must wear a kanga, wear a new turban every day, and take a shower BEFORE doing nitnem and simran. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  16. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Even a numbe like that will be enough to change the world vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  17. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! It may not be her fault, but praying for forgiveness and most importantly recognizing what was done wrong is a great step forward! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  18. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I'm gonna have to take a while to digest what khalistani wrote!! I just assumed it had something to keep Guruji on your right hand side (with your kara). Like Guru's gonna be your right hand man or something vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  19. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! ...and since we enjoy playing with numbers, 960 million is basically 1 billion... so 1/6 of the earth's population being GURSIKH ain't bad. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  20. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I failed everything where creativity is required... so how about just "Kaur" ? vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  21. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! People, calm down... remember, our Guru Granth Sahib IS a book!!! When we call it Guru, we are referring to its knowledge, but Just as the Bible is only a book to us (several have called the Koran a book on this forum), for the layman, it is only a really good book vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  22. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! But does anyone have the source, or a book with the source? vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  23. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I'm sorta on the borderline on this issue. Even though I agree with MKhalsa that some relationships may be distractions, Ravneet Kaur does have a point. Remember that spiritually, we can progress faster in the presence of a sangat... and for example having a significant other who believes in and practices Sikhism like you would acts like this sangat... so you have a sangat around you all the time! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  24. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Last 4 posts... well said!!! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  25. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Calm down dhillon, its based on the Simpsons, which as you know, judges its entire show based on stereotypes. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
