Malton Nagar Kirtan

Waheguroo ji ka khalsa

Waheguroo jee ke fateh!

I just attented the Nagar Kirtan that took place in Malton. It was brought to my attention that we did not receive permission from the city if Mississauga to hold this Nagar Kirtan, even after the case was taken to court. Therefore we were held to walking on the sidewalks for some parts of the Nagar Kirtan. This did not allow us to have floats of any sort and was very restricting. The Mayor of Mississauga is a royal *** and has a thing against the Sikh community. this is evident in the racist and anti immigration remarks she has made in the past. Anyway the point of this is that i was hoping that the sangat would each write off a quick email to the mayor and let her know that we find this unacceptable. A vast majority of the community is made up of Sikhs. So if other communities are allowed to hold parades i.e. the santa claus parade etc. why should the Sikh community be restricted?? grin.gif It's not as if we leave a huge mess or are unruly...so please write an email to the mayor and let her know how we feel. Her email is mayor@mississauga.ca

I agree this action is needed cuz he should allow us and give permission ...

but...

There is also another nagar kirtan on the SAME day and the SAME time ... i dont get it ... why not just one ...

... for people who dont know the history ... there always has been just one nagar kirtan in toronto ... and that is downtown where every sangat goes and its wicked ... but recently in da last couple of years ... there is a split and MANY including myself are upset at this fact...

... ok you guys wanna do different nagar kirtans ... fine... but why not on a seperate day !? why do you wanna cause such a big conflict...

... for personal reasons i dont agree with two nagar kirtans on the same day ... around the same place... and im sure a lot have similar views... we are planning to take some action or at least get the sangats views out ... cuz this is just getting into a very messy political mess...

yeah its getting terrible, i was watching sur sagar and they had a interview witht he one of the malton commitie members and hes like look how many people are here to see Ranjit Singh and what not.

Its great that the Malton Gurdwara was packed but the Committees reasons were just to capture sangat for the nagar kirtan in my opinion

Look how deep the poltics are getting no.gif

although i agree that it is weird to have two nagar kirtans on the same day, the point of this topic was to gat people to write letters to the mayor addressing the issue of not being granted a permit...i know that a lot of people feel strongly about the two nagar kirtan issue and it could get way off topic...and remember that there is more than one nagar kirtan held in malton....dont forget the nagar kirtan for the parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji that took place last september...so if this pattern of not granting permits continues that nagar kirtan could be in jeporday also...so write those emails!

lets stress that the emails shud b w/o swearing and immaturity. They shud b written in a civilized manner so our voices will actually be heard and appropriate actions may be taken otherwise they will just think of it as hate mail etc. n not pay attention to it n give Sikhs a bad name no.gif

so if ne1 is thinking of writing an email plz keep this in mind

and think b4 u write

if possible read it ovr n make sure u r not writing sumthin inappropriate!! blush.gif

It wuz recently brought to my attention by Sony that malton Gurudwara Sahib signed a paper saying that next year they will only have one nagar kirtin and if they were to have two nagar kirtins they would do it for a diff ocassion on a diff day what is why they did not recieve the clearance this year.

Also the Missisauga mayor has always supported the Sikh sangat and they are putting the blame on her for no reason, she lets them do nagar kirtins on other days like Guru Ji's janam utsav. There is a reason we shouldnt send letters like that to her. If letters need to be sent newhere they should be sent to Malton Gurudwara. The cops went to Malton Gurudwara the day before the nagar kirtin took place and showed the letter to the people in charge.

I don't think the Missisauga Mayor should recieve any emails since it wuz not her fault, plz contact Malton Gurudwara if you have ne concerns.

Thank you Sony for the other side of the story!

    • the whole 'your husband/wife is chosen for you'/sanjog thing is real, it's just that a lot of people end up marrying the wrong person. they did not end up with the person that was meant for them. my friend, you should marry someone who you feel a connection with and love. there are millions of sikh girls, i'm sure you can find someone who aligns with your sensibilities and who you can truthfully say that you love. sikhi does not say anything against love marriages. you can also be in a loveless arranged marriage which is a safe option b/c both families are more inclined to keep the union intact. i was one of those people who was like meh, i guess i'll just get arranged to some sikh. well i finally started dating for the first time this year and i'm getting married to someone that i love and cannot even imagine leaving. i think it's better to have lost & lost than never loved at all. unfortunately, a lot of people confuse love w/ looks & lust. a lot of men go for the fittest girl they can find and think they won the jackpot or something. in reality, your partner should be like an extremely loved best friend. there's a reason why it's a fact that the most stable and long-lasting relationships started as friendships.  i also think a lot of women are petty and divorce over small reasons, but there's other terrible things like high cheating rates as well. that's why the divorce rate in the west is high. be careful out there.
    • andrew tate praises sikhi too & likes sikhs. his brother also donated to sikh families iirc. they just like any "alpha" religion and tbh islam is the most "alpha" in their eyes. islam is very good at promoting that image. but imo a real alpha man doesn't command respect by beating up his wive(s) or forcing them to wear a burqa. a real man will have his woman listen to him w/o raising a hand or his voice, and command respect by being respectful. he leads by example and integrity. that's true masculinity. you get the idea. + yes, it's definitely true that islam is growing rapidly and making massive inroads. strength in numbers + belief will do that. but rlly it's just because of the birth rate. a lot of them are muslim b/c it's their "identity" just like how a lot of young sikhs will say they're "culturally sikh" or whatever. there just aren't billions of sikhs who lambast their identity everywhere and have strict and linear rules like in islam. besides, the reality is that islam and its followers are some of the most morally bankrupt. you can see all the weird trans rules in iran, bacche baazi in afghanistan, visiting brothels, watching p*rn, p*dophilia what goes on behind the scenes in countries like uae & qatar, etc, and come to your conclusions. you can google all the stats yourself and see which countries do the most of these ^.
    • stop associating with hinduism, that's the absolutely worst thing you can do as a sikh. not sure if you noticed but the entire world looks down upon and spits at india & hindus, literally no one respects them and considers them weak and cowardly. literally 1+ billion of them but not perceived as a strong religion commandeering respect.
    • you wrote a whole lot but told us nothing. what exactly did you do wrong to make you feel this way?
