Bringing back Shasters

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ke Fateh,

I want to bring back some shaster from India, like Sri Sahibs, Tulwars, Khandeh etc.

Will I need to bring them from India through Indian customs or can they be put in my tetchee?

Oh and I heard Singh there ripp you off proper (well foreigners), so any advice on where I can purchase good shaster (tulwars and khandeh to be used for training purposes) and that aren't like expensive due to their history.

You shouldnt have any problems, wrap the shastars up in kapra (so they aint easily accessible) and put them in your tetchee, stay under the weight limit and you shouldnt recieve much attention.

i would definitely do so, or if possible have THEM mail it to your house.

actually, once ur through indian customs , your cleared the whole way unless ur a victim of random customc hecking or something like that but its all good, i dont hitnk theyll mind in britain

Put them in your suitcase and you will have no problem.

I have flown from Delhi back to UK several times in the last year and Indian customs do not check your suitcase on the way back to the UK. You do have to get your luggage scanned for security and they put a sticker and a plastic band type thing on to show it has been checked and stop it being tampered with. To further reduce any pilferage attempts you can get it wrapped for 100RS within the airport.

On leaving Delhi you do pass through a customs point but this is after you have checked your luggage in and have passed the immigration. They rarely check your hand baggage but this is checked (through Xray and sometimes hand search) before you get to the gate areas.

It is not illegal to carry sharp objects in your checked in baggage. In the past I have carried several kirpans etc without any problems.

I have not seen any people at the customs area at Birmingham airport for a few years. The Akal Takht Jathedar walks through customs with his Jathedars Kirpan so customs do not have an issue with Kirpans.
