Sat Sri Akal:

1.) How you call the first word of Guru Granth Sahib?

Huh?  Explain this question please.  It does not seem to make sense.

2.) What is Amrit?

Book on the topic -->http://akj.org/skins/default/books.php?ch=1&bookid=2

3.) Why we have to become an AmritDhari Sikh?

Guru is a Sikh's teacher, therefore the Sikh should follow the Guru's teachings and example.  Guru Gobind Rai himself took Amrit to become Guru Gobind Singh.  The example was set and the Sikhs should follow it.

4.) Who told us that we have to do Akhand Path in some amount of time, and who said it should be Akhand?

There are general estimates of how long an Akhand Paath can take, but the Rehat Maryada is clear and states that if it takes longer, then fine.  Nobody should be conducting Akhand Paaths to make the deadline.  Akhand Paaths are a way of doing Paath, Akhand meaning without stopping.  There are other Paaths as well, such as the Sehaj Paath, in which a Sikh will read from the Guru Granth Sahib daily.

5.) Why Guru Gobind Singh Ji Had 3 wives and told us to only have 1 wife?

That is an issue that is being debated.  Some say 3, some 2 and some 1.  Guru Sahib never held anything from his Sikhs and never made any statements that he only had one wife (if he did, the current debate would not be occuring).

6.) Why we still find The God, while we are saying that he everywhere?

Saying and accepting something are two separate things.  A Sikh who has fully embodied the teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib will lose the self-ego and himself/herself become the Almighty as well as see the Almighty everywhere.  It is the self-ego that puts the roadblack in the way, defining things as yours and mine.  That is the purpose of Sikhism...to overcome the self and go beyond the concept of "me".

:----1.) I understand but that guy says that the first letter is" EkO" means god is one but some says it is "ek ownkar" how you pronounce it in real.

:----3.) he says that guru'slived life like a raja, had 3 or 2 wifes that doesn't mean why we have to be an amritdhari sikh just guru was and what is its motive?

questions will continue....................

My father, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, had one wife, Mata Sundari Ji, my mother. The reason people assume Guru Ji had 3 wives is becuse of ignorant Punjabi writters. Before Guru ji married her she had a differnt name, then after marrige the name was changed once again, very common to do that in that time. Then her name was change the thrid time becuase she became a religious leader.

--- And how about MATA SAHIB KAUR " mother of khalsa".................

I have proof that Guru Ji had only one wife. It is in dasam granth. Guru Ji had only one wife. It is due to ignorant and bramnified writers that Guru Ji is given more than one wife.

we don't eat meat because we only eat it for taste.. u can't say 'its for protein' because there are many other things that can be substituted... so never kill another animal/human for ur own pleasure.. in this case it would be to satisfy ur taste... another reason... u know how they say 'u are what u eat'... well tha's tru... if u eat a chicken... u'll eventually become a chicken in one of ur next lives... we shouldn't eat animals because we take in their past karam... all their wrong-doings... we take them in and they become apart of our karam....

plants.. they dno't have karam.. they reproduce asexually.. which is why it's okay to eat them...

sum1 please correct me if i'm wrong..

bhul chuk maaf...

Guru Gobind Singh jee had only 1 wife... Mata Jito jee who was renamed Sundari by Mata Gujri(Guruji's mother) cuz she was extremely pretty...it was also an affectionate way of calling her daughter-in-law. Mata Sahib Kaur never got married to Guru Gobind Singh Jee and so cannot be classified as his wife. She is just known as Mother of the Khalsa cuz she contributed patasehs to make Amrit in 1699....a title bestowed upon her by Guru Sahib himself. Therefore, Guruji only had 1 wife i.e. Mata Jito jee a.k.a Mata Sundari. Hope that clears up the confusion. tongue.gif

And this meat thing keeps on popping up. People just search for topics on meat. Don't raise this meat thing again and again. Once again, meat is not banned in Sikhism. Only halal meat is banned. Plants also have male and females. They also react to music.

Sat Sri Akal:

1.) I understand but that guy says that the first letter is" EkO" means god is one but some says it is "ek ownkar" how you pronounce it in real.

You may read the analysis of Ik Onkaar by Professor Sahib Singh at:

http://www.gurugranthdarpan.com/0001.html

which state the three parts of Ik Onkaar, and their meanings.

2) he says that guru's lived life like a raja, had 3 or 2 wifes that doesn't mean why we have to be an amritdhari sikh just guru was and what is its motive?

Guru Sahib lived like a Raja, true. Samrath Raam Daas, teacher of Shivaji of Maharastra once heard that Guru Hargobind Sahib was the current embodiment of Guru Nanak, whose fame as a spiritual being was now spread across India. Raam Daas desired to meet Guru Sahib. Upon seeing the Sixth Patshah, he became disappointed and asked, how can Guru Hargobind Sahib abandon the saintliness of Guru Nanak and live like a King...what were this wife, kids and money? Guru Sahib responded that the wife it Iman, or respect, the children, Nishan, or the living symbol of the family, and the wealth is Gujran, or the means to get through life. He further remarked that he was a king outside, but a fakir inside. Raam Daas expressed his satisfaction at the answer. Guru Sahiban set that example for their Sikhs too. The Sikhs themselves are the image of Kings and Queens, but inside, they retain the humility and saintliness that the Guru Sahib has taught them.

Why Amrit? Amrit is the committment that a Sikh and the Guru make to each other. It is admittance into the school of the Khalsa, not graduation. The fee to get in is your head, and the education imparted is that of Gurmat. Without Amrit, one cannot be a Sikh. Since ancient times even recorded in Vedic scriptures, a student would bring his teacher an offering and if the Guru accepted this offering, the student and the Guru from then on would be bonded in their education. This tradition continues in Sikhism and Amrit is that physical and spiritual committment to that relationship.

And how about MATA SAHIB KAUR " mother of khalsa"

You may read a view on the wives issue at the following webpage:

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
