VAHEGURU KI KA KHALSA VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH !!

I THINK THE MYTHICAL BULL IS A HINDU MYTH WHEREBY HINDUS BELIEVE THAT THE WORLD HIS HELD UP BY A BULL. HOWEVER GURU JI QUESTIONS THIS IN JAP JI SAHIB JI SAYING HOW CAN 1 BULL HOLD UP SO MANY WORLDS:

DvlY aupir kyqw Bwru ]

Dhavlai upar kaytaa bhaar.

What a great load there is on the bull!

DrqI horu prY horu horu ]

Dhartee hor parai hor hor.

So many worlds beyond this world-so very many!

THE THREE WORLDS ( STATES )

Rajo, Sato and Tamo are three states of Maaya.

People residing in state of Rajo aspire for money and status. They do not, however, adopt any wrongs means to acquire these.

People residing in the state of Sato have a natural temperament for doing religious work, hence are regarded as less materialistic than Rajo. These kind of people try their best to lead an honest life however are very fussy people and are inclined to religious rituals.

People in the state of Tamo are pure materialistic and can attain any method for fulfilling their desires. Most of the world today is in Tamo state.

Guru Jee tells us about these three stages of MAAYA:

raajas saatak taamas ddarapehi kaetae roop oupaayiaa ||

Those who embody the energies of sattva-white light, raajas-red passion, and taamas-black darkness, abide in the Fear of God, along with the many created forms.

But, a Gurusikh lives above these states. This state is called 4th Paad which as explained in the following shabad can be attained easily by doing Naam-Simran.

kar kirapaa jis aapanai naam laaeae ||

Those whom the Lord mercifully blesses with His Naam

naanak chouthhae padh mehi so jan gat paaeae ||5||

- O Nanak, in the fourth state, those humble servants attains salvation. ||5||

The following Shabad is by Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Maaroo on Pannaa 1037

maaroo mehalaa 1 ||

Maaroo, First Mehl

raj tam sat kal taeree chhaayiaa ||

Your Power (Gods) is diffused through the three gunas: raajas, taamas and satva

janam maran houmae dhukh paayiaa ||

Through egotism, they suffer the pains of birth and death

jis no kirapaa karae har gurmukh gun chouthae mukat karaayidaa ||11||

Those blessed by His Grace become Gurmukh; they attain the fourth state, and are liberated. ||11||

Following Shabad is by Bhai Gurdaas Ji in Vaars Bhai Gurdaas:

siv sakatee no la(n)gh kae piram piaalaa nij ghar aayiaa||

raajas taamas saatako teeno la(n)gh chouthhaa padh paayiaa||

BHULL CHUKK MUAFF
