Langar Hall = Tables And Chairs?

Sat Sri Akal:

Ok...here's a simple challenge:

Give me one reason (not the elderly disability) for the Sangat to sit on chairs and tables.

The entire prospect of tables and chairs is a bunch of bull. It is like Yogi Harbhajan Singh's Katha. He goes to a Gurudwara and he sees the entire Sangat sitting on chairs and with their shoes. President Sahib is sitting on a couch. The Guru Granth Sahib is suspended like 18 feet in the air and the Granthi has to climb a ladder to do sewa. All management were monae.

What is the real reason for such acts? Simple...trying to blend in. Note that in the majority of cases, this table and chair phenomenon is associated with older Gurudwaras. Why? They tried to blend in with everyone else....run it like a Sikh church...don't look too different. As much as people try to rationalize this, the real reason is fear, not some advancement in thought or alternative lifestyle. Same reason why many people insist on cutting their Kesh when they go to a foreign nation to live there...FEAR!!!

Yogi Harbhajan Singh went on to say how after people moved to the area, the chairs and shoes were gone and the Sangat resumed the traditional Maryada of the Gurudwaras. That same management had full Kesh and Dastaars. What happened to modernity and alternate Maryadas then?

Fear is the real reason...nothing else.
