Veer, First it is not a buddhist attitude, We should wait to know, because simply knowing it from reading does not mean you have KNOWN it. Simply believing in the word of another does not mean YOU have KNOWN it. If it is true then it is true for THEM, not you. Just becuase you have read about the afterlife, does not mean you have experienced it. You are believing what you read, rather than experiencing it.

It is a common err by the reader that once he/she begins to read, he/she begins to belive that they have found it. Reading and Experiencing are on 2 different level. The same err is made about God. You have read about him, but have you found him? Is reading about him enough when you know the words you read cannot express him to the fullest? So is reading about hell greater than knowing thru divine experience/knowledge that it exists? You convince your mind by reading, but now you must experience what you have read. That is why i said we will know when we get there and it has nothing to do with having a buddhist attitude.
