ive been told only chiefs or warriors at a high rank, such as 'major' wear farla. This is because, if we go into battle, we take orders off farla singhs? Farla singhs have the leadership to train and lead a fauj.

Also farla can act as a nishan sahib, as nishan sahibs may have been distrespected if taken into batte (like fallen on the floor or tramped on). So to upheld the honour of the nishan sahib, they wud place it on the highest part of their body, which is the head.

I've been told it's given to Nihangs, who have done a loot of Seva, just like the siropai (unforutnatly given to every joe, tom and harry nowadays)

ours consisted of the akaali nihang singha, nihang singha, and the singha

the singha were permitted 2 take off their baanaa n weapons in peaceful times, the nihanga and the akaalia werent.

how cud u tell the diference wid a akaali n a nihang? the akaali wore the farla, theirs alot of honour in wearin a farla, alot of it, as it is hard 2 gain, akaalia know 400 bania by heart

on the siropa topic rasied earlier, whats up with that, at my local Gurudwara they give out Siropas to kids on their birthdays? Are they trying to say like well done youve made it to 8 years old and not died?
