I'm Doing A Project On.....?

this year for heritage fair i wanted to do a project that's related to my backround is a sikh. i've thought of 2 projects but can't figure out which one to do...ive only got a couple of weeks left

my 2 choices are:

to do a project on the 1st Gurdwara in Canada

(want to build a model of the Gurdwara)

or

The Air India Bombing

(I would interview one of the 2 people that were on trial recently for the bombing)

please provide any insight on which project you think i should do

you soudn as if you are in the vancouver area, so why not visit abbotsford gurughar and go see first hand what kind of information is available...

frankly, the air india bombing is a very sensitive issue and you are a student not a politician. You may not want to bring that into the classroom, with it being as sensitive an issue as it is. like i said you're not an activist or a politician, you're a student.

let's try to teach people about sikhi, not about issues.. know what imnea? like.. history of sikhs in canada is what you could do and then talk about the first gurdwara, and then maybe even throw in things about Komogata Maru..

don't even touch the air-india case...if you end up sounding like you support Malik and Bagri, you may find people behaving differently towards you. you don't need to bother with something so deadly.

the abby gurdwara is a good project. there are currently huge renovations going on the structure

Totally agree with Japman S. If you want to do a project related to Sikhi, the bombing really doesn't have much to do with it, but describing the first gurdwara (in Vancouver) certainly will. From what I've heard, it has a rich history not only as a Gurdwara, but it was a major community center for all indian and foreign immigrants to Canada and it served as a pillar for helping Indian immigrants (including the ones that were barred entry) against a then raisist society.

thx for the help but i already chose a different topic

seeing as i only have a little over a week to finish this project, i've decided to do a project on Vaisakhi (the panj piarai "five k's", Vaisakhi parade, etc.)

I thought this would be more realistic project that i can finish in a week...though i really wanted to do it on the Oldest Gurdwara in Canada (The Air India Bombing thing was actually suggested by my teacher... :lol: )

Anywayz...if you know any good sites that have info on Vaisaki it would be really helpful

btw does anyone know the date of the first Vaisakhi Parade in Canada?
