The other side of the 'postcard' for the Slough programme on 11 June has the following text mentioning:

31 May 2006

Sikh Freedom Lobby in the European Parliament in Brussels;

4 June 2006

Remembrance March and Freedom Rally in central London; and

11 June 2006

Commemoration of the events of June 1984 at Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Slough;

JUNE 1984 GENOCIDE

Sikhs throughout the world were outraged by the June 1984 Indian army assault on the Darbar Sahib Complex, where the Akaal Takht, Sikh Reference Library and historic artefacts were destroyed or damaged beyond repair.

To maximise casualties the unprecedented action ordered by Indira Gandhi using artillery and tanks was deliberately timed to coincide with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Not surprisingly there were huge numbers of pilgrims in attendance, which resulted in thousands of innocent Sikhs being killed in cold blood, many with their hands and feet bound, including women and children.

Over 125 other Gurdwaras, including forty historic Gurdwaras throughout Panjab were simultaneously attacked using massive fire power. Thousands of Sikhs were arrested, tortured, and killed, including children.

On Sunday 4 June 2006 Sikhs across the UK will gather from 11:30am in Hyde Park, London for the Remembrance March and Freedom Rally. The Remembrance March will be between Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square, where there will be a large rally between 2:30-4:30pm. The rally in Trafalgar Square will be similar to the excellent 'Sikhs in the Square' event held in November 2005

On Sunday 11 June 2006 Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Slough in association with the Sikh Federation (UK) and Young Sikhs (UK) will be commemorating the events of June 1984. Sikhs from across the UK are encouraged to take part in honouring the Sikhs that laid down their lives in June 1984.

The Sikh Federation (UK) in collaboration with Sikh organisations throughout Europe is organising the first ever European Sikh Lobby Day. The SIKH FREEDOM LOBBY will be taking place in Brussels at the European Parliament on the afternoon of Wednesday 31 May 2006 from 12 noon.

The four freedom issues to be covered are:

- the freedom of Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar and other Sikh political prisoners languishing in Indian jails

- the freedom of Sikhs in Europe to practice their faith

- the freedom to expose the genocide of Sikhs in 1984 and the widespread abuse of human rights in India

- the freedom for Sikhs to exercise their right to self determination

Sikhs are urged to contact their local MEPs and:

i) get them to sign Written Declaration 0030/2006 on the punitive treatment of political and human rights activists in India

ii) encourage them to get other MEPs belonging to the same EU political grouping to support the declaration

iii) ask for a brief lobbying meeting with a small delegation from their region to discus the four issues above

Any person wishing to attend from the UK or elsewhere in Europe should keep the Sikh Federation (UK) informed by emailing sikhfederationuk@yahoo.co.uk so the event can be properly co-ordinated.

Postcards were distributed today in Slough and all three events were mentioned from the stage.

Did the postcards make an appearance in any other town/Gurdwara?

As the postcards mention the 31 May Sikh Freedom Lobby in Brussels it would be best of these were out by next weekend.
