(Press Release)

To further the interests of the Sikh nation and the Panjab, for the glory of the Khalsa Panth, the two political parties, Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and Shiromani Khalsa Dal have forged unity to form a single entity. Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) and Shiromani Khalsa Dal have been consistently persevering to protect and preserve the religious, social and cultural, economic and political rights of the people of Panjab. The two bodies have upheld the high ideals of the Sikh Gurus in word and deed. The leadership and cadre of the two parties have suffered the wrath of the Indian state but have never dithered from upholding the legitimate rights of the Sikh people.

The land and water rights of the people of Panjab, the worsening water and power situation, the illegal, free distribution of largesse to big industrialists, the menace of migratory labour, the executive clearance and ‘regularisation’ of government land forcibly occupied by the organized mafia in various cities of Panjab and chandigerh, under the tutelage of Congress leaders at various levels, the continuing suicides by farmers, no resolution of various long standing issues of the Sikh people and the state of Panjab, the incarceration of Sikh detenues without recourse to redress and succour, the increasing drug-abuse by Panjabi youth, rising apostasy amongst the Sikh youth, deteriorating religious and ethical standards of living, health and education for the entire populace of Panjab are areas of prime concern to us.

In consonance with the voice of the people of Panjab, our present journey will include complete and fullest participation in the ensuing elections in Panjab, to defeat the designs of the Congress and the unholy nexus of the Badal Dal-BJP-RSS. We are determined to inherit the proud heritage of Panjab and to foil all attempts by these parties to subvert the culture and annihilate the people of Panjab. Unlike these parties, we will uphold all democratic norms and will represent the case of the underprivileged, the poor and the neglected. “Sarbat da Bhala” is the mission delivered unto us by the Gurus and we will continue our endeavours to accomplish it.

S. Daljit Singh shall be the Sr. Vice President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar).

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) appeals to all sections of the people of Panjab to cooperate and participate in our struggle to protect Panjab from withering away under the diktat of the present rulers, the Congress, which has the legacy of browbeating the Sikhs and usurping their rights and aspirations. We urge all Panthic and Panjab-oriented political parties, human rights groups, kisan unions, employee organizations, religious and social organizations to join hands with us to defeat the Congress-Badal Dal-BJP triumvirate. We appeal to the Sikh Diaspora Indiawide and worldwide to strengthen us in order to forge a unified front to protect the interests of the Sikhs and Panjabis wherever they reside. As ordained by the Tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh, the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) will remain dedicated to espouse the sui generis character of the Sikh nation.our party stands committed to evolve the model of ideal man, society and state in accordance with the principles and spirit of guru granth sahib and the constitution of UN

Hope other like minded Dals follow suit to form a common platform against Congress and Akali Dal(Badal)-BJP combine.

Amritsar, June 7

In a significant development, Shiromani Khalsa Dal (SKD) of Daljit Singh Bittu today merged with Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), led by Simranjit Singh Mann.

This announcement was jointly made by Mann and Bittu at a press conference held at Circuit House here today. While SAD (A) was formed at the behest of the then Jathedar Akal Takht, Prof Manjit Singh, the SKD was formed in April, 2004, even before the release of Bittu from Nabha Jail.

With the merger, the SKD stands disbanded. While Mann will continue to be the president of the party, Bittu will be the Senior vice-president. The list of more office-bearers will be announced shortly.

Mann and Bittu said they had joined hands to defeat the designs of the Congress and the SAD-BJP.

They claimed that the merger would be in the larger interest of the Panth. To a question, they said more Panthic factions might join the unified Akali Dal.

Earlier, the Dal Khalsa and the SKD were contemplating to merge into one entity by accepting Bittu as president. However, this unity could not be forged. However, Bittu said efforts were being made to rope in the Dal Khalsa and other factions, which were interested in defeating the Congress and the SAD-BJP in the coming elections of the Assembly, scheduled to be held in February next year.

However, both the leaders evaded questions on their previous demand of Khalistan.

Ram Singh and Gurjatinder Singh Bhikhiwind, both general secretaries of SAD (Amritsar) and senior leaders of the SKD were present on the occasion.

You would think SS Mann would know better. This is the same Bittu who was able negotiate surrender despite most other senior militants being killed in encounters. The real militants like Shaheed Baba Manochal etc never sought such surrender opportunitites.

This is the same Bittu who despite his crimes got a quick release and the charges against him were watered down.

This is the same Bittu who invited police cat Sukhi to his wedding knowing full well that Sukhi was a police cat and had been shown as having been killed in an encounter.

Looks like all these so called panthic chamcha are all government servants who make a hue and cry when prompted to do so by certain indian institutions.
